Chapter 176: Chapter 176

"That was delicious."

I say while wiping my lip. I look at Shirou and say.

"You are a very talented chef, Shirou."

"Thank you. However, I am a home cook rather than a chef. I don't own a restaurant or something. I don't deserve that title."

"Humble as well. Anyway, thank you for the meal."

He nods and says.

"You are welcome."

I look at Rin and say.

"So, shall we get to business, Rin Tohsaka?"

The young woman nods her head and says.

"Yes."

"Tell me the location you want me to purify?"

She takes a map out and points her finger at the forest outside of Fuyuki.

"This is the place that I have already prepared. It is far away from where people gather, and the barrier will make sure it stays that way. Not only that, but the barrier will also keep the mana from leaking all at once. It will slowly leak the mana, and it will make sure humans here get used to the mana in the air so they are not dying."

"Perfect. For now, I need to take care of the curse in this city."

"I am sorry to interrupt, but what kind of curse is that? Will it be dangerous?"

I look at Shirou and say.

"Not at the moment, no. However, the longer the curse stays, the more problems the citizens of this city will encounter. From what I gather, the curse will make people easily angry, make it hard to get children, and make them easily get sick. At the moment, they will be okay, but the longer the curse stays, the stronger it becomes, and Fuyuki city will become a ghost city because no children will be born, and the people will kill each other in fits of anger."

"And the curse also affects the mana in the air."

I look to the side and see Zelretch return from his investigation.

"Ah, Zelretch! What do you find?"

"There is a taint in the Ley Line. It is very small and subtle, and I need to inspect it to determine the source carefully. Luckily, you are here and release that purifying aura. Dispelling that curse is easier than it is supposed to be."

"Then I am happy to help. For now, I need to purify the mana in the air. Can you check the barrier your apprentice creates? It is not because I do not trust her; rather, I need you to add more barriers to prevent the creatures that will appear from going outside."

Zelretch nods his head and says.

"I understand." He looks at Rin and explains my reasoning. "That place will be full of creatures that are supposedly extinct because Gaia wants to repopulate the earth with the animals that are already extinct. They are not dinosaurs, but they can be big. In return for you using the mana, she will create creatures that will help her heal."

Rin nods her head. I can see her pride getting hurt by my words, but after Zelretch's explanation, she understood the reason I said that.

"I understand. Thank you for your consideration, Lord Ryan."

"Think nothing of it."

|3rd POV|

It has been another week since he spent his days in the tomb of Babylonia, and Ryan has been around the world alongside Zelretch. He visits all kinds of places to heal and gets favor from left and right from the nobles of the Clocktower.

The country he likes the most is Greece. That place is full of wonderful magical sides that mundane people cannot enter or even see. It is full of magical plants that can kill or heal you. Among the favors he takes is getting samples from all the magical plants he encounters and a way to grow them.

Yasaka loves gardening, and she would love the plants he brings.

Not only plants, but many of the nobles gave him a Mystic Code. However, what surprised him the most was the El-Melloi family. They give their Supreme Mystic Code. The Volumen Hydrargyrum, a mercury automaton, can be used to attack or defend.

It cannot be used against a high-ranking person back home, but Ryan will give the Mystic Code to Asia and Kunou to protect them or at least buy them some time to run away. It is also good enough to be used as a maid for their everyday activity.

In exchange for that, they want Ryan to increase the mana in their secret mine. This mine contains all kinds of minerals that grow from mana in the air. However, getting the best mineral requires a lot of mana or a long time for it to grow. However, with Ryan's help, the mine can grow the best mineral without a problem.

The second place he visited was Antarctica. Zelretch wants him to increase the mana in that place because he wants to try something related to Chaldea. Chaldea does not exist in this universe, but Zelretch intends to try to save the Chaldea timeline where humanity has gone. He needs to create a workshop and a massive amount of mana to do that.

In exchange for this favor, Zelretch will install a Chaldea Fighting Simulator. This lets him fight all the servants Chaldea ever summoned in a simulation fight. There are a few exceptions, like Beast Tiamat, but there are a lot of servants he can choose to fight.

"Fuuuu"

Ryan releases a breath as he feels the chilling wind past him. Because of Zelretch's request, he is still in Antarctica, purifying the world from the taint.

"That should be enough. How long can the world last now, Ryan?"

Ryan looks at Zelretch, takes the hot chocolate in his hand, and says.

"Seventy thousand years, more or less. However, it will increase steadily if the humans of this world change their tech."

"Don't worry. We are working on it. In two or three decades, technology will be completely different. I already send agents around the world to make companies that focus on Solarpunk tech."

"Great. With this–"

Before he can finish his words, Grandeeney roars in his mind.

'Ryan! Yasaka is in danger. I can feel it from our connection.'

Ryan gets up and looks at Zelretch.

"Zelretch, Yasaka is in danger. Open the portal. I need to return."

"Gotcha."

Zelretch opens the portal, and the two of them leave the world. However, unknown to them, a small white dog-like creature follows them through the portal.
