The Heavenly Demon Does Home Repairs

Chapter 3 - I Am the Heavenly Demon (3)

In this world, monsters pour out of places called dungeons, and at the same time, awakened humans—those who have transcended human limitations—emerge to fight them off.

Thanks to their efforts, the world remains relatively peaceful despite the constant monster threat.

Humans, demons, and even gods who tread upon the earth, such as the Earth Guardian Gods, coexist within this world.

However, very few humans are aware of the existence of demons and Earth Guardian Gods, mainly limited to a select few in power.

“This world is indeed different. A place where demons and humans live together in peace…”

“It’s not exactly peaceful. Most humans don’t even know we exist,” the elderly dual-faced man added.

The Heavenly Demon nodded, contemplating the knowledge that had just been transmitted into his mind.

“I see. I accept that this is another world.”

In truth, he had already suspected as much. After all, there was no place in his world where a young girl could destroy an indestructible body or summon meteors from the sky.

Standing up slowly, the Heavenly Demon asked the elderly man, “Then, what are you? A god? A demon?”

“Who knows?”

“Why can we communicate without issue? And earlier, I could read the characters perfectly.”

“No idea.”

The answer was nonchalant, but with two faces, the Heavenly Demon found it hard to get angry.

“So, how do I return home?”

“How would I know?”

“What? Then how did you know I came from another world?”

The dual-faced old man sighed and shook his head.

“There are monsters in this world that come from other worlds through dimensional rifts. Well, I guess you’d call them demons… or something like that.”

“How do those monsters return to their original world?”

“Never seen one go back.”

A despairing answer.

The Heavenly Demon’s face stiffened, and the old man awkwardly licked his lips.

“Sorry… I guess I wasn’t much help.”

“No, quite the opposite.”

The Heavenly Demon respectfully clasped his fists and bowed slightly.

“You’ve been of great help.”

Even if this was another world, he had a secret way to return.

The dual-faced old man alternated between looking at Jang Chaewon and the Heavenly Demon before nodding.

“Help? If you say so. By the way, Manager Jang, you have a kind heart.”

“Huh?”

“You helped the person who destroyed your precious Spirit Tree.”

“What are you talking about?”

Jang Chaewon’s expression froze, and the old man blinked in surprise.

“Didn’t you know? Look.”

The old man gently touched her forehead with his shining finger.

Flash.

A huge meteor fell into the courtyard of her traditional house from the sky.

Boom!

The meteor hit the ground, creating patterns of light, and then a man appeared—the Heavenly Demon.

“Am I injured…?”

Wiping the blood from his mouth, the Heavenly Demon glanced behind him.

There, a massive tree emitted a mysterious glow.

“Perfect.”

His face lit up. After all, he was someone who ate spiritual herbs like they were everyday meals.

He instantly realized that the light flowing from the tree carried the mystical power of a spiritual herb.

“So, it is…”

Approaching the tree, a strange force halted his steps.

It felt as if a transparent wall surrounded the tree, preventing him from getting closer.

Every spiritual herb has a protective aura.

Some of the most potent herbs even create barriers as strong as powerful formations.

“But I have a way.”

With a fierce glint in his eyes, the Heavenly Demon pushed off the ground and launched himself toward the glowing tree.

“Ha!”

Boom!

Using his indestructible body, he shattered the mysterious barrier protecting the tree.

“Hngh.”

Once again, blood trickled from his mouth, and his shoulder throbbed with pain.

To think something could hurt a body harder than diamond? It seemed his internal injuries were worsening.

Staggering, the Heavenly Demon leaned against the tree’s remains, breathing heavily.

“This… wasn’t a spiritual herb.”

The broken pieces of the tree gave off no healing energy at all. When he put a piece in his mouth, it felt like chewing on a rock.

“No way…”

As the entire scene played out through the old man’s powers, Jang Chaewon trembled with betrayal.

Now it made sense—the one who had destroyed her annex and the Spirit Tree was none other than that brazen brute who looked like Gouki.

“The Spirit Tree. It was you who destroyed it.”

Crack. Jang Chaewon’s eyes gleamed with fury as she turned her head toward the Heavenly Demon.

“And to think, I let a thief sleep in my storage…”

“Wait! This is a misunderstanding.”

The Heavenly Demon raised his hand solemnly.

“When I found that tree, I was disoriented. I thought I had fallen into some unknown mountain valley.”

“Then why did you lie yesterday?”

“That was…”

Unable to find an answer, the Heavenly Demon pursed his lips and declared grandly, “Worry not. I am the Heavenly Demon. A mere tree is nothing… Ugh!”

Jang Chaewon’s fist slammed into his abdomen, forcing the Heavenly Demon to his knees with a pained cry.

‘Even if I had my full internal energy, I wouldn’t have stood a chance.’

As he clutched his stomach, his eyes lost focus.

Despite achieving a body on par with the legendary “Heavenly Steel Body,” he was brought to his knees by this girl’s punch.

Jang Chaewon, her voice filled with fury, shouted, “Now, I won’t be able to get compensation for this! What are you going to do about it?”

“Manager Jang, I’ll be off. Call me when the workers are ready.”

Wiping sweat from his forehead, the old man quickly made his escape.

Jang Chaewon, her eyes nearly white with rage, clenched her fists.

“You psycho, perverted, good-for-nothing!”

She added another insult to her growing list.

Looking down at the Heavenly Demon with an eerie glare, her voice dropped to that of a grim reaper.

“Follow me!”

Inside the Bokbok Interiors shop.

Jang Chaewon sat at the round reception table, holding a large calculator in her hand.

“Let’s calculate, shall we?”

She glared at the Heavenly Demon, who sat across from her, and quickly tapped on the calculator.

“The price of a Spirit Tree sapling is 30 million won. But considering the three years of nurturing, the labor, and the lost future earnings… Ugh.”

She grabbed her head and cried out in frustration, staring up at the ceiling.

“I can’t calculate it! It’s impossible to calculate!”

Turning to the Heavenly Demon, she trembled with rage.

“More than anything, now we won’t be able to take on divine requests! If we lose the sanctuary status, our shop could lose everything!”

“Divine requests? Sanctuary? What are you talking about?”

“Our shop is a sanctuary. We don’t just do interior design; we handle requests from gods and spirits!”

Her eyes blazed with anger as if fire would shoot from them at any moment.

“We’ve been barely maintaining a ninth-grade sanctuary status. I was just three years away from achieving it… and now…”

“What do you mean?”

“You don’t need to know!”

Still glaring at him, Jang Chaewon bit her lip.

“As long as you’re human, the only compensation I can accept from you is money. It takes three years of nurturing to raise a Spirit Tree to the point where it can fulfill its purpose in divine requests.”

“I don’t understand.”

“A divine request… Never mind! It takes three years of my knowledge and power to cultivate a Spirit Tree for such work!”

‘So, she’s not an ordinary human,’ the Heavenly Demon thought as he began to understand her tremendous strength and abilities.

After remaining silent for a while, Jang Chaewon finally spoke, her tone resigned.

“Considering you’ve come from another world, I’ll accept the minimum compensation. Deal?”

“Agreed.”

“Good. Glad you’re being reasonable.”

Placing the calculator down, she continued in a cold tone.

“Just pay me 100 million won.”

For any ordinary person, this was a staggering amount.

But the Heavenly Demon simply shook his head calmly.

“I’m unfamiliar with your currency, so I don’t know the exact amount.”

“Oh, is that so? Do you think I don’t read martial arts novels?”

Jang Chaewon quickly checked the price of gold on her phone.

“At the current rate, it’s 426 grams of gold. In your terms, that’s 42 taels of gold.”

“Forty-two taels of gold? That’s all?”

“What?”

The Heavenly Demon shook his head, unimpressed.

“I thought you were asking for something astronomical, like several renowned treasures. But just 42 taels of gold…”

A vein bulged on Jang Chaewon’s forehead.

“Do you even have the money to pay?”

“Of course.”

The Heavenly Demon spoke confidently.

“There’s an armory in the Ten Thousand Demons Palace that only I have access to. It’s filled with countless ancient weapons. Even a wealthy merchant of the demonic path, like Chugeum Mountain, felt like a pauper when he saw it.”

“So…”

Her vein pulsed even harder.

“The Ten Thousand Demons Palace is in your world, isn’t it?”

“How dare you speak so disrespectfully! The Ten Thousand Demons Palace is the supreme palace of the demonic path, built by the Divine Demon himself!”

“Whatever. So how are you going to pay?”

“How? I’ll pay as promised, of course.”

“Then how will you bring money from your world?”

Jang Chaewon eyed him with suspicion, her gaze sweeping over his ragged clothes. It was hard to believe he had wealth in another world.

“I am the Heavenly Demon. There’s nothing I cannot solve.”

“You can bring money from your world?”

“That’s not possible.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“Not at all.”

With his arms crossed, the Heavenly Demon smirked with pride.

“I have a way to return.”

“Really?”

Grrr.

At that moment, the Heavenly Demon’s stomach growled loudly.

“…Are you hungry?”

“Ahem.”

He cleared his throat, attempting to maintain his dignity.

“I am the Heavenly Demon. I can go for seven days and nights without food and remain unharmed.”

Grrr.

His stomach growled again, and he lowered his head.

“However, I haven’t had a single sip of water in eight days due to my battle with the orthodox faction.”

“Enjoy your meal!”

The delivery driver who had just set the food on the table bowed before leaving.

On the table were steaming bowls of jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork).

Since the Heavenly Demon claimed he could return to his world, Jang Chaewon had generously ordered both dishes.

Sluuurp.

Sitting at the round table, the Heavenly Demon held his bowl in one hand while quickly devouring the noodles with chopsticks. He even downed the tangsuyuk sauce along with the food.

After a satisfied belch, he placed the empty bowl down.

“It was delicious.”

The Heavenly Demon licked his lips, staring at the empty bowl. Jang Chaewon, still displeased, clenched her teeth.

“I didn’t order it because I liked you. I ordered it because you said you’d compensate me.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure to repay you.”

His calm expression didn’t seem to be lying.

Crossing her arms, Jang Chaewon eyed him suspiciously.

“So, do they not have jajangmyeon in your world? I figured they’d have an authentic version there.”

“They have similar dishes, but nothing quite like this.”

With their meal over, Jang Chaewon brought the conversation back to the main point.

“So, you’re going back to your world to get the money, right?”

“Correct.”

“And how are you going to return if you don’t even know how you got here?”

“I’ve mastered not only the supreme martial arts but also secret demonic techniques. One of them allows me to create rifts in space and time.”

“Wow, are you really human? That’s impressive.”

As the conversation flowed smoothly, Jang Chaewon complimented him. But for some reason, the Heavenly Demon’s expression darkened.

“What’s with the face?”

When she asked, the Heavenly Demon, who had been staring at the lights, shook his head.

“But I need to recover my internal energy first.”

“Internal energy?”

“Yes. It takes an internal force of ten cycles to perform the Celestial Void Spirit Art.”

Though she didn’t understand what he meant, his expression indicated it couldn’t be done immediately.

“So, you can’t go back right away?”

The Heavenly Demon nodded.

“Several of my energy channels have mysteriously been severed, and I can’t draw upon my full power. I don’t know how it happened.”

“What?”

Jang Chaewon clenched her fists in frustration.

“You tricked me!”

“Tricked you? I don’t understand. What do you mean?”

“You said you could return and bring the money!”

“I can return. I just didn’t mention that I need to restore my internal energy first.”

It became clear that this shady character was skilled in twisting words.

“You should’ve said that from the start! You can’t pay me right now, can you? That’s the important part!”

“Is it?”

Seeing the Heavenly Demon blink innocently only made her angrier.

“So what are you going to do? I’m losing money as we speak! Without the Spirit Tree, how will I handle divine requests? If we lose our sanctuary status, how will I gain any favor?”

“Divine requests? Favor? What are you talking about?”

“Divine requests are tasks given to us by gods and spirits. Favor is… well, never mind about that.”

The Heavenly Demon understood half of what she said and rested his chin on his hand.

“So you’re asking for immediate compensation?”

“Exactly.”

As Jang Chaewon rolled up her sleeves, the Heavenly Demon waved his hand.

“Hmm, severed energy channels are my issue, so… very well.”

After thinking for a moment, he said with utmost seriousness, “Once I return, I will compensate you tenfold—no, a hundredfold.”

“A hundredfold? That would be 10 billion won.”

As Jang Chaewon blinked in surprise, the Heavenly Demon nodded confidently.

“Yes. I’ll give you the Demon Steel Chain Sword.”

“The what?”
