The search that began from the Grand Duchess Chamber had already stirred up his master’s emotions from the first report.
“There are traces of magic usage.”
Among the members of Karma, there were also sorcerers. They investigated the traces found in the terrace and discovered that the first spell had been cast in Mariel’s room.
“While it’s still cautious to be certain, it seems that Miss Mariel has awakened her abilities.”
“How interesting.”
In response to Karma’s report, Calix sneered.
It was a chilling laughter that made every hair on his body stand on end. The bodies of everyone present trembled. The knights of the Grand Duchess, the maids, and the related servants were already taken away and imprisoned. Even the Countess Margo was not an exception.
The atmosphere in the Grand Castle was as precarious as walking on thin ice. Everyone was on edge, not knowing when they might upset their master’s mood.
Ryzen was no exception.
“Find her.”
When Calix’s voice, lower than usual, reverberated through the chilly air of the underground corridor, Ryzen snapped out of his thoughts.
“I will grant you the full authority over Karma.”
Ryzen swallowed hard. He hoped that not many people would be implicated. To achieve that, they had to find the missing Grand duchess as soon as possible.
A considerable number of Karma members, including Zeke, had already set out to find her, but they needed to act faster. They was no telling when their master’s patience would reach its limit.
“I’ll heed your command.”
*
Calix’s footsteps headed somewhere.
In a couple of minutes, he arrived at was Asella’s bedroom. He pushed the door open without hesitation and stepped inside.
The empty and serene room remained tidy as ever even when her owner was gone. The large window was adorned with pure white curtains, gently filtering the midday sunlight. Calix’s gaze shifted to the table, vanity, and bed within the room.
‘About a month has passed.’
The time Asella had stayed here. It might have been a short period, but her presence was already infused throughout the room.
The candle by the bedside carried a faint scent reminiscent of her. Several pieces of jewelry she often wore were neatly placed on the vanity, and a box near the table was filled with embroidery supplies she occasionally used.
“Asella Benvito.”
Calix softly uttered Asella’s name. He found the surname attached to her name appealing. A sign that she was his wife, a clear indication that they were man and wife.
She belonged to him. She was his woman. His one and only wife.
