Chapter 13: Bonds Beyond Eternity: The Ruler's Devotion and New Horizons
The golden light of dawn spilled gently into the serene chamber. Kal-El stood by the grand window, the expanse of the omniverse stretching endlessly beyond the horizon. Lois stirred awake behind him, her soft murmur pulling him from his contemplations.
Lois said playfully, her voice still warm from sleep
"Kal, don't tell me you've been up all night thinking again. Even rulers of the omniverse need some rest."
Kal turned toward her, his golden eyes shimmering with an affectionate glow. She was his anchor, his constant, and no matter the vast responsibilities he bore, her presence always brought him peace.
Kal-El said softly, smiling
"Lois, rest is a luxury for mortals. But I could never leave your side, even if my thoughts drift elsewhere."
Lois sat up, brushing her hair back as she studied him. Despite his casual tone, she could see the faint shadows of thought behind his calm demeanor.
Lois asked gently
"You've got that look again. What's on your mind this time?"
Kal-El crossed the room in an instant, sitting beside her and taking her hand in his.
"Nothing that needs to trouble you, my love. I've made certain… adjustments to the System for Arin whose mother you have known I have taken."
Lois tilted her head, her curiosity piqued.
"Yeah, how can I not know what you are doing but Adjustments to his system?"
Kal-El smirking faintly
"Let's just say it doesn't realize it's playing my game now. Whatever it tries, it can't affect me—or us."
Lois raised an eyebrow, a slow smile spreading across her lips.
Lois teasingly said
"You've been busy, haven't you? But if that's settled, then why the all thinking sage look?"
Kal-El leaned back slightly, his expression softening as he looked at her.
"It's not sage look. I was thinking about the others… about how they're doing. I've been away for some time from them."
Lois laughed softly, squeezing his hand.
"They've missed you, Kal. Every single one of them. They understand why you've been focused on the bigger picture, but… they still miss you."
Kal-El's gaze grew warmer as he listened to her.
"I've missed them too. All of them. I'll make it up to them soon—at the coming gathering. I'll show them how much they mean to me."
Lois smiled, leaning her head against his shoulder.
She knew how much he cared for every member of his extended family, his harem of incredible women who shared his life and his love.
"They'll love that, Kal. But you also know what they want most? Just you. Your time, your attention."
Kal-El tilted her chin up, brushing a kiss to her forehead.
"Of course I know"
"They'll have it, Lois. Every one of them. I am going to notify them to come home."
Lois sensing his thoughts shifting, curiously asked
"And what about now? You've got that look like there's something else brewing."
Kal-El's expression turned thoughtful, though there was a faint flicker of amusement in his golden eyes.
"I've decided to visit a new multiverse. There's some womans with potential. They will become your sister… and join our big family."
Lois blinked in surprise, though she had long grown accustomed to Kal's way of phrasing these things.
She playfully said..
"Potential sisters, huh? You're not wasting any time."
Kal-El grinning faintly
"I never do. But I'll take my caretakers with me. They've been restless, and this will give them a chance to stretch their powers."
Lois raised an eyebrow.
"Your caretakers? You mean… the Kryptonian girls? So whom are you going to take"
Kal nodded, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"Yes. They're more than caretakers, of course. They're warriors, scientists, guardians… and my women. Every one of them has grown immensely powerful—basking in the energy of suns and stars for centuries has made them capable of reshaping universes if they wished."
"I am thinking of taking Fiora, Laura, Lexa and also the new batch of little kryptonian girls. They were constantly nagging me to take them to play at the previous month's gathering party!"
Lois let out a low whistle, clearly impressed.
"Good choice. Yeah, they were also telling me how much they want to go somewhere with you. They sure will be very happy to know this news"
Kal-El's smile grew warmer.
"More than happy. Also, they'll be perfect companions for this journey."
Lois smirked, leaning back on the bed with a playful glint in her eyes.
"You know, Kal, if I didn't know better, I'd say you're spoiling all of us."
Kal chuckled, his voice a low, rich hum.
"You deserve it, Lois. All of you do. And I'll make sure none of you ever feel neglected."
The two sat in comfortable silence for a moment, the weight of Kal-El's responsibilities balanced by the quiet intimacy they shared.
Lois softly asked
"When will you leave for this multiverse?"
Kal thought Lois question placing his hand on his chin, um..
…
"Soon, After the gathering party. I'll meet with the caretakers first to prepare. But I won't be gone long—you know how efficient I am."
Lois laughed, leaning up to kiss him gently.
"I do. Just… don't forget to take care of yourself too, okay?"
Kal-El smiled, wrapping an arm around her and holding her close.
"With you waiting for me, Lois, I'll always have something to look forward to."
"but let's do some morning exercise first before meeting them"
Lois: "…"
Kal-el: "😊"
…
…
After some morning exercise…
As the morning light filled the room, Kal-El's thoughts drifted to the gathering he was planning and the new journey ahead. The omniverse was vast, its mysteries endless, but his love for Lois and his extended family of powerful, extraordinary women grounded him in a way nothing else could.
The ruler of the omniverse had much to do, but for now, he simply savored this moment of peace.
