The God of Ice and Fire at Hogwarts

Chapter 218: We Have Plenty of Time

"Cancel defensive stance!" Lynn ordered calmly.

The Purgatory Demon Puppet stood up straight, and the flame barrier disappeared.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Lynn raised his Desert Eagle and fired three more shots in quick succession.

However, as before, these three bullets were quickly melted into molten iron after entering the Purgatory Demon Puppet's body by the flames that were compressed to the extreme.

It wasn't just the flame barrier that the Purgatory Demon Puppet used for defense. The puppet itself was made of intensely compressed flames. The true purpose of the flame barrier seemed to be to resist magic attacks, not physical ones.

Thinking this over, Lynn decided not to continue testing the Purgatory Demon Puppet with Muggle weapons.

After all, swords, spears, wands, or any kind of firearm were made of metal, and no matter how high the melting point of the metal, it would melt instantly in the face of the Purgatory Demon Puppet's flames.

Thus, Lynn put away the Desert Eagle and pulled out his wand.

"Thunderclap!"

Lynn muttered softly, and a beam of orange-red light shot through the air, striking the chest of the Purgatory Demon Puppet and causing a violent explosion.

The blast from the explosion spread across the surrounding area for dozens of meters, and the smell of destruction filled the air.

However, despite such a powerful explosion spell, the Purgatory Demon Puppet only took a few steps back, with sparks flying from its body. It didn't seem to have suffered any real damage.

"God's Sword No Shadow!"

Lynn waved his wand again, casting the extremely lethal Sharp Sword Charm, which contained a curse's power.

An invisible blade cut through the air, and sparks erupted on the chest of the Purgatory Demon Puppet, with molten lava pouring out from the wound.

However, the curse that would normally prevent a wound from healing was ineffective against the Purgatory Demon Puppet. As the flames on its chest burned, the wound that had been created by the Sharp Sword Charm gradually healed.

After witnessing this, Lynn realized that the Purgatory Demon Puppet had a strong resistance to magic. He now needed to test its resistance to soul-based magic.

"Avada Kedavra!"

A whisper like that of the underworld escaped from Lynn's lips, and a beam of dark green light shot out from the tip of his wand.

This dark green beam, carrying an overwhelming aura of death, struck the head of the Purgatory Demon Puppet.

The Killing Curse is a spell designed to target the soul, instantly destroying it and causing the victim to die without a trace of injury. Those killed by the curse show no wounds, as the curse only affects the soul, not the body.

However, when the dark green light hit the Purgatory Demon Puppet, it only staggered a few steps back. The dark blue soul flame in its empty eye sockets dimmed for a moment but quickly returned to its original intensity.

The soul flame flickered weakly, as though questioning its own existence.

Seeing this, Lynn's expression shifted in surprise.

The Purgatory Demon Puppet is a magical construct with a soul, but Avada Kedavra could not destroy its soul. This might be due to the fact that its soul is powered by a unique, hellish magic.

Lynn considered this for a moment.

"Irina, could you do me a favor?"

At this point, Lynn turned his gaze to Irina, who had been practicing the Ice God and spoke aloud.

Hearing this, Irina, who was about to begin converting her magic power into ice energy, hurried over, looking at Lynn with a questioning expression.

Lynn explained, "Irina, could you use your magic power to forcibly extinguish this Purgatory Demon Puppet?"

Lynn himself had a very high affinity for fire, so if he tried to test the amount of magic needed to extinguish the Purgatory Demon Puppet, he wouldn't get the answer he was looking for. Even though Lynn could extinguish the Purgatory Demon Puppet with a thought, he needed Irina's help for this experiment.

Irina nodded slightly, raised her wand, and whispered,

"Ice Field!"

Before Irina could convert her magic power into ice energy and release the Ice Phantom, the Ice Field was already the most effective version of the freezing spell. To extinguish flames, extremely low temperatures were naturally the most efficient method.

Upon realizing that Irina intended to attack it, the Purgatory Demon Puppet instinctively tried to resist, but Lynn's command froze it in place, preventing it from resisting Irina's attack.

A large amount of frost began falling on the Purgatory Demon Puppet. Endless ice covered it, and the area within a ten-meter radius of the puppet turned into a snowy wasteland.

But even under these conditions, the Purgatory Demon Puppet didn't extinguish immediately. The flickering flames on its body began to weaken.

After nearly five minutes, the eerie blue flames in its empty eye sockets were completely extinguished, and the flames on the rest of its body also dissipated, leaving only the ink-black armor.

This signaled the death of the Purgatory Demon Puppet.

"How are you? How much magic did you consume?" Lynn asked.

Irina, now sitting on the ground, replied weakly, "I've nearly exhausted all my magic power. The magic you described in your book is a hundred times more potent than the Purgatory Demon Puppet's. It's not a lie."

Over the past three days, the two had also exchanged notes on the ancient magic each was learning, so they were both familiar with the spells the other was studying.

"I see."

Lynn observed the remains of the Purgatory Demon Puppet, now reduced to nothing but a set of ink-black armor, and nodded slightly. It seemed that he had successfully created the Purgatory Demon Puppet.

In other words, he had officially learned this ancient magic.

Turning around, Lynn saw Irina sitting weakly on the ground. He knelt down, took out a bottle of light-blue liquid from his pocket, and handed it to her.

"This is a potion that speeds up the recovery of your magic power. Drink it."

Lynn spoke with a hint of apology.

In order to help Lynn test the strength of the Purgatory Demon Puppet, Irina had exhausted all her magic power, which made her unable to continue her own practice of the Ice God. This made Lynn feel somewhat guilty.

Irina drank the potion Lynn handed her. She smiled and said, "I'm fine. I just need to rest for a while, and then I can continue practicing the Ice God. Don't worry, we still have plenty of time."
