Chapter 20: Halloween Crisis
In the following weeks, Lynn repeatedly studied alchemical runes, visited the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor's office on Saturdays to carve alchemical circles, and refined his alchemical process under Professor Green's guidance. During this period, Lynn made remarkable progress in alchemy. His wizard's robes and accessories had become alchemical products engraved with alchemical circles.
There are more than a dozen different defensive alchemical circles on his robes, making him immune to disarming spells and other spells from Auror-level wizards, as well as resistant to the dark magic of regular adult wizards.
The strength of these defensive alchemical formations depends on Lynn's own magical power. As his magical energy grows with age, the power of the alchemical circles he creates will also increase.
Soon, Halloween arrived.
When the young wizards woke up in the morning, they could smell the sweet and tempting scent of roasted pumpkins floating through the halls. Countless pumpkin decorations adorned the Hogwarts Castle, making the Halloween atmosphere even more intense.
On this beautiful Halloween day, Fred and George Weasley proposed launching a dungbomb in the Great Hall, but Lynn tried to stop them.
"Please, even Professor Flitwick had a hard time removing the dungbomb from his hands. Don't you have any self-awareness?!" Lynn took the dungbomb from their hands with a determined expression on his face, looking as helpless and powerless as possible.
The day after Lynn learned to carve the alchemical circle, he taught Fred and George how to improve the dungbomb. Although they didn't understand the principle, the twins were still able to follow Lynn's example.
After making a simple carving knife, Fred and George had stored dozens of improved dungbombs over time.
If these dungbombs were to be thrown into the auditorium, it was clear that Gryffindor House would lose a significant amount of points.
Although Lynn was from Slytherin House, they were still his friends, and he didn't want Professor McGonagall to hang them up and hit them.
"Alright!" "You've convinced us!"
Fred and George shrugged and said.
At the Halloween feast, a thousand bats fluttered around the walls and ceiling of the hall, and another thousand floated like dark clouds over the dining tables, causing the pumpkin candles to flicker.
Suddenly, countless delicacies appeared on golden plates, and the feast was even more lavish than the opening dinner.
In front of such a feast, even Lynn, who usually had little appetite, couldn't help but eat an extra plate.
After dinner, the young wizards dispersed one by one, and the professors left the stage as well.
Just as Lynn was about to return to his dormitory to memorize more alchemical runes, he suddenly noticed that Professor Green, who had just gotten up from the table, seemed to be acting strangely. Lynn could see something wrong in the professor's pale blue eyes—a murderous intent.
Moreover, the direction the professor took didn't lead to his Defense Against the Dark Arts office.
Lynn saw Professor Green heading toward the Hogwarts Castle doors. After exchanging a few words with Filch, the professor left the castle. The direction he was heading appeared to be Hogsmeade!
"Fred, George, wait! Something seems wrong with Professor Green!"
Lynn grabbed Fred and George by the collar and said with a serious expression.
He had never seen murderous intent in the always kind Professor Green's eyes. Clearly, Professor Green must have encountered some trouble.
Lynn told the twins about his analysis and said, "I plan to go to Hogsmeade Village through the One-Eyed Witch Statue to see if I can help Professor Green. Also, during my journey, there may be danger. If I don't return within an hour, inform Professor Dumbledore or Professor McGonagall immediately!"
Lynn wasn't blindly arrogant about wanting to help, but he was confident.
Firstly, during his training, he had learned to cast the Fire Curse without a wand while speaking the incantation aloud, and he could also silently cast other spells like the Disarming Charm. His magical power was even comparable to some newly graduated Aurors.
Secondly, the gear on Lynn's body contained a large number of alchemical circles, which would allow him to survive for at least an hour even if he encountered a powerful dark wizard. What he had asked the twins to do was his last resort.
If Professor Dumbledore or Professor McGonagall could come to his aid, even if Voldemort himself appeared, it was unlikely that Lynn would be killed immediately.
Upon hearing this, Fred and George exchanged glances.
"No problem. As long as you return safe and sound, it doesn't matter even if the secret passage is exposed!" George said.
The twins didn't intend to go with Lynn. They were aware of their own limitations. While Lynn had learned how to silently cast many magical spells, like the Disarming Charm, they could only cast a few spells. If they went, they would only hold Lynn back.
After giving them his warning, Lynn quickly reached the One-Eyed Witch Statue.
"Separate left and right!"
Lynn cast the spell to open the secret passage, crossed it as quickly as possible, and arrived at the basement of Honeydukes.
Lynn raised his wand and cast a Disillusionment Charm.
Lynn had learned the Disillusionment Charm from Professor Green a week earlier. This invisibility spell greatly improved Lynn's self-protection abilities.
Lynn felt a cold liquid flow from the top of his head and spread throughout his body. He raised his hand and realized that he was completely invisible.
Lynn quickly exited the basement and moved away from Honeydukes.
Hogsmeade was the largest magical village in the British wizarding world. If a battle were to take place, the location of the battle would likely not be within Hogsmeade. From this, it was clear that the final location of the confrontation was at the entrance to Hogsmeade!
Lynn walked toward the entrance of Hogsmeade under the Disillusionment Charm. After turning a corner, the entrance to Hogsmeade appeared in his sight. However, at the same time, a black-clad wizard with his mouth and nose covered also appeared in his line of sight.
Upon seeing this black-clad wizard, Lynn's heart sounded an alarm. Although he was nearly one hundred meters away, Lynn didn't dare to make any more movements.
He stayed still, focusing on the feet of the opponent rather than looking directly at him.
If this black-clad wizard was truly a powerful dark wizard, then the other party must have the ability to detect the Disillusionment Charm, so moving closer recklessly would certainly not be a wise choice. Powerful wizards can usually detect their gaze, which is why Lynn didn't dare to look directly at him.
This knowledge had been taught to him by Professor Green, and he benefited greatly from the professor's personal experience.
