The Genius Physician Princess

Chapter 8

Yeo-ul thought she knew Kite well.

Or at least, she thought she did. Seeing him today, she realized otherwise.

Kite could be described as a ‘cheerful magic genius.’

He showed incredible talent in creating new spells, sometimes inventing one each month.

Considering that an average mage might spend their entire life without creating even a simple spell, his ability was astounding.

Despite his lacking physical abilities, Kite becoming an elder of Wizardian at a young age was almost inevitable.

In summary, Kite was a genius with a cheerful and easy-going personality… or so she thought.

“You really are heartless, sir.”

Today, Kite seemed a bit off.

“Suspecting such a cute girl of malice, isn’t that too much?”

As soon as he saw Yeo-ul, Kite started trembling and ranting.

“She’s your benefactor! If she hadn’t helped you, the elders would have killed you, Wizardian would have fallen, the Holy Kingdom would have rejoiced, and the continent would have been doomed!”

“Why so extreme… And you said you would confirm it too!”

“That was before I knew she was this cute!”

Kite burst out.

“If I had known, I would have believed her without question! Keeping such cuteness to yourself and leaving early is truly heartless!”

The core of his rant was unclear, whether it was ‘a guardian of Wizardian ignorant of cuteness is guilty’ or ‘a boss who left early without me is guilty.’

Lantus, completely fed up with Kite’s tirade, turned to Yeo-ul.

“That lunatic is worse today. I apologize.”

“It’s okay.”

“What that guy meant was…”

“I understand. He checked on me, right? I think it was necessary.”

The power to see through malice.

It was right to confirm, especially when Lantus was in enemy territory.

If he hadn’t, Yeo-ul would have asked him to use his power on her.

“Thank you for understanding.”

“You’re welcome.”

Despite this, Kite’s rant continued.

Lantus, grinding his teeth, turned to a nearby mage watching with amusement.

“Why is he suddenly like this? Did something happen at the mausoleum?”

“A high priest attacked during the cleanup, and he had to fight them off. They used a scroll.”

“A scroll?”

“Yes. Somehow they got one made by Andante. Kite dealt with it, but he blamed you for his troubles.”

Lantus pressed his forehead in frustration.

“Damn it.”

Andante was Wizardian’s top alchemist.

Blocking one of her attack scrolls would have taken all of Kite’s strength.

“That guy holds grudges… Haa.”

Kite laughed at Lantus’s distress.

“Finally, I feel better. As the old saying goes, holding it in makes you sick.”

Turning to Yeo-ul, he smiled and bowed.

“Thank you for your patience. Allow me to properly introduce myself.”

With a hand on his chest, he continued.

“You may know me as Kite, the third elder of Wizardian.”

His serious gaze surprised Yeo-ul.

‘High-ranking nobles are different.’

Kite was originally the second son of Duke Mussolin of the Empire of Fatima.

Though treated poorly due to being an illegitimate child, he had left his family.

“Today, Wizardian owes you a great debt. On behalf of the elders, thank you.”

He bowed deeply.

His earlier antics seemed a facade, his elegant demeanor flawless.

Yeo-ul blushed, knowing that Kite, who had renounced his noble status, was showing her such respect.

“Thank you too! You welcomed me even though I came suddenly.”

“Your kind words are appreciated. As expected, you’re as kind-hearted as they say.”

Though something sounded off, Kite’s courtesy made her overlook it.

“Would you allow me to formally greet you as Wizardian’s benefactor?”

“Of course. But I’m not a noble.”

“That doesn’t matter. I abandoned my family too. That’s a secret, by the way.”

Kite winked playfully, making Yeo-ul smile.

“May I know your name?”

Yeo-ul hesitated.

Could she tell him her real name?

She had the name Rivierre, but preferred her real name.

“I have two names. Can I tell you the one I prefer?”

“Sure.”

“My name is Yeo-ul. It means ‘river’.”

At that moment, her heart fluttered.

It felt like her floating feet were finally grounded in the dream.

“Yeo-ul, a river.”

Lantus murmured, smiling faintly.

“A river flows endlessly, saving and helping people. It suits you.”

“Hmph. You talk well. But you didn’t even ask her name until now. Were you going to keep calling her ‘kid’?”

Kite’s question made Lantus wince and cover his face with one hand.

Yeo-ul giggled, making Kite smile.

“It’s good to see our benefactor so cheerful. May I call you Miss Yeo-ul then?”

“No, just call me Yeo-ul. Like my brother used to.”

“Then, Miss Yeo-ul it is.”

“Nice to meet you, Miss Yeo-ul.”

“Thank you for saving us!”

Other mages greeted her warmly.

Yeo-ul felt a balloon of happiness swell inside her.

“Alright, enough introductions.”

Lantus raised his hand.

“Kid… no.”

He smiled.

“Yeo-ul.”

Her face lit up.

“Yes, Lantus.”

“You said you wanted to be a doctor? If that’s still true, I have a proposal.”

“A proposal?”

“If you come to Wizardian, we might be able to help. There are many doctors, and I can protect you.”

“Wow!”

Doctors seeking refuge in Wizardian!

There was nothing better. They could use her medical knowledge effectively.

“I’d love that! Visiting Wizardian was always my dream!”

“I’m glad you like it.”

Lantus patted her head.

“We leave in three days. Rest well until then.”

Kite interjected.

“Because of the wanderer? Do you have a lead?”

“Yes.”

Lantus nodded.

“The search stone darkened. The wanderer is nearby.”

Yeo-ul’s ears perked up.

‘Wanderer? What’s that?’

A term not in the novel.

Kite, sensing her curiosity, explained.

“A guest from a distant place. Someone Lantus is determined to protect. You might meet them if things go well.”

“I see.”

Someone Lantus must protect.

Yeo-ul wondered if she could help find this person.

If clues were needed, her knowledge of the future might help.

But how to bring it up?

‘I’m actually from Korea. I think this is a dream set in a novel, and while it’s a bit different, it’s similar enough that I might help?’

‘…Sounds crazy.’

Lantus might worry and try to help her, which felt sadder.

‘I’ll think of something. A natural way to share useful future insights with Wizardian.’

“The search stone takes time to fully awaken. But it’s faster now, so it shouldn’t take long.”

“Is three days enough?”

“No more. If they catch wind, it’ll be troublesome. If the Holy Kingdom finds out, the wanderer could be targeted.”

“True. But what if three days pass without progress?”

“I’ll stay behind. I’ll handle the critical moments alone, no need for many people.”

Kite nodded.

“Understood. We’ll gather clues in the meantime. If the wanderer is here, someone must have noticed something.”

“Good. Start searching tomorrow. But,”

Lantus looked at Kite.

“Kite, you have a special task. While here, you…”

Were supposed to take care of Yeo-ul, as the safest option for her.

Seeing Kite’s earlier outburst, Lantus hesitated.

Kite, sensing his dilemma, grinned.

“Don’t worry. I wouldn’t act up around our benefactor.”

“So you knew it was an act, you crazy bastard…”
