At dinner, Katherine didn't join the family they thought she fell asleep. Elijah went to her room and found her meditating. He sat by her side until the sun came up. When Katherine opened her eyes she saw Elijah sleeping on her bed.

"What are you doing?" She asked him baffled at his antics. Elijah in response became saddened by her response, in the past she would gently smile in apparent happiness that he would accompany her even when she is not able to entertain him.

"I wanted to talk to you but you were busy so I fell asleep waiting." He said with a gloomy tone but Katherine scoffed.

"What did you want to talk about?" She pretended not to notice his sulking behavior.

"I wanted the kids to have a somewhat normal school experience and you being there with them is the opposite of normal." He said the stern tone rolling over naturally when they were still mates.

Katherine looked at him and smiled brilliantly. "Do you know one of the reasons I proposed marriage to you was because you could always handle my temper with such calmness. Perhaps it because of your experience with your brother over the centuries." She walked towards him and her hands roamed over his arms feeling the strong muscles underneath.

Her face moved from his strong arms to his face. "But do you know why you could always handle our temper? Your brother and I?" She asked him and he gave her a strange expression.

"For him, it is because he loves you, very much so. Over the years you have made it impossible for him to live without you. He needs you Elijah. There could never be a Klaus Mikealson without Elijah Mikealson.

For me? It is because I genuinely loved you too and I have a deep respect for you and I couldn't bare to disappoint you. I wanted you to be happy.

But did you respect me? Did you love and want me to be happy? You disappointed me Elijah, whenever I think about the good times we had There's always a deep sense of disappointment in my heart. Even now looking at you right now I should be tempted by your messy 'just woken up' look. But instead all I feel is pain. It is painful to look at you Elijah everything I used to love about you makes me want to ridicule myself for being so stupid." She stopped him when he tried to speak.

"So when I want to do this one thing to make myself happy you are trying to take it way from me why? Just because you can? To show me up that the foundation I have with the kids is shallow and you can destroy my plans to bond with them with a single sentence? Is this your power now?" Her face has turned chilling.

"Perhaps you can be a local but not directly stay in their school? This way you may see them on weekends and bond, but moving into the school is a bit excessive." Elijah spoke softly.

Katherine went to take a shower but her mood is already very low so she skipped breakfast and went for a run.

The place were the wolves are located is located in proximity to a dense forest. Katherine shifts into her fox beast and reduced the size to be a little bigger than a normal cat and ran through the woods.

She has been inside a dark dimension unable to smell the air or feel the earth beneath her feet.

She ran for an entire hour hunting and enjoying the smell of nature. When she came back she saw the clan children training hard including her own children.

She stood next to Elijah who is supervising the training and said nothing. Elijah didn't know what to say to her so he continues his work.

Katherine is checking the level of her kids training and is a little surprised with the team work they displayed. It is polished to the extreme, she subconsciously smiled with happiness. Elijah caught sight of her smile and became dazed for a moment. His wife is really beautiful.

"I will move into my old pack house and lay low. You don't have to worry about me being a domineering mother." She said to Elijah as they they walked back to the house after watching the training.

"Alright. We leave tomorrow. I normally drive them back but you can do it since you're here."

"Actually I don't have my license anymore. It expired a long time ago." She said with a bit of embarrassment.

"It's okay I will drive you all back as usual but I may have to stop near short of entry since Rebekah is in Mystic falls. Can we talk?" He asked but Katherine shook her head.

"You don't even know what I want to talk about. Please." He said with a rare vulnerability that shook Katherine. She might have not known before but one look and she knows what he wants to talk about now.

They went into her room when the kids went to shower for dinner. "Can you understand me a little Katherine? At that time Niklaus was on the verge of a total breakdown. And Hayley... She had just turned into a hybrid and lost her baby in one breathe she was falling apart."

"I understand you. And it is because I understand you that I took my children and crossed a portal without even bothering to tell you. It wouldn't make a difference." She said coming out of her closet dressed in silk black and pink long pajamas.

"But to sever our bond just for that was a bit much."

"I am unreasonable and too demanding." She said flatly.

"Katherine."

"Elijah." She said in response. Her expression didn't change or soften even a little bit. A long silence stretches and then he finally said something.

"I am sorry." He said with all the sincerity he could muster. "I a need you Katarina, you are my wife. The first woman I married in a thousand years of heartache. I know I am flawed, my family is my flaw I know this but darling. Can you have me anyways? Please..." There's tears in his deep brown eyes making Katherine feel surprised.

She closed her eyes and took a step back. Clearly drawing a line between them. She opens her eyes without any emotions. This one look was enough to make Elijah disperse.

"I am not in love with you anymore. It is impossible between us. Forever." She said with a distant tone shattering Elijah's heart. He couldn't believe it, Katherine ha really hardened her heart. He closed his eyes and went towards the door.

"I am not giving up. You just need time." He said and walked on. "Katherine I still love you and I know you love me too, how can a love like that just disappear like that? Katherine you love me, you just forget how much because of what happened. There's no way my wife would leave me alone.." He sounded hysterical now but Katherine only sneered.

"You did this! Not me! Our marriage fell apart because of you! I did all that a single person could do and you still tossed me aside for your precious brother. So don't look for explanations where you know there's non. The one who should be owed an explanation is me not you." She slammed her hand on the wall and shouted.

"Then give me another chance. Give us another chance Katharina and I will make things right." He took a single step towards her but she seems to recoil in disgust.

"Don't say such things in the future they disgust me. That statement makes me want to wrench all over the floor. You and me are never happening in this life time. You want a wife? Go to your brother." She walked pushed him out of her room roughly making him stagger outside and she shut the door with a loud 'bang.'

Elijah is stunned by her resolve. Katherine was stubborn but she was always soft hearted when it came to him which is why she had brought back Kol, didn't kill Niklaus after all the terrible things he had done to her. It may have made him complacent.

He hurried to open the door and entered back into the room, he pulled her into his arms and pleaded. "Katherine please I can't live without my wife. Give us another chance and I swear to you we will make it work this time even if it kills me." He is even shedding tears.

"Let me go." Her voice is steady and without any fluctuations. She looked at him with no tenderness she used to have in the past. Her eyes didn't even show anger or disappointment. It's as if she is dealing with a stranger, someone she has no feelings for.

He let her go and his heart turned cold. She really means to divorce him.

The next morning when Elijah woke up he found breakfast ready as Katherine discussed something with the kids.

"I don't want to!" Erna said pouting.

"But.. you're a Mikealson first born witch, your power will surely bring you a lot of envy. This is power that will be at your back and call." Katherine explained.

"But you're clearly choosing for me. They get to choose which path they want but because I am the first born you are forcing me to lead the witches. Why?" She folded her small arms and asked.

"Alright. I am wrong. Choose whichever path you want." Katherine raised her hands in mock surrender.

"Now you're angry." The little girl said. She has always been hot tempered but her brothers are usually there to calm her down.

"I am not angry. I had assumed this is what you will be most comfortable with. But I was wrong. You may choose whichever path you want because you will be living it. So it's your choice and whatever you choose I'll support you." She soothed.

"You're not lying to me?" Erna frowned.

"No. I will support you. I promise." Katherine said with sincerity.

"I want to be a fox beast, like you." The little blond baby girl said with eyes like stars. But Katherine didn't look pleased.

"The fox beast is a very powerful devine beast. If you choose to take this path, you will be alone in the world. A power without equal is a lonely place baby. Think it over and if you still want it when you are 16 then mother will not desuade you." Katherine smiled sadly.

"Are you lonely mom?" Erna seems to have grasped something. Katherine only patted her back and smiled without answering.

Katherine wants to spoil her kids but decisions like these will affect their entire lives it's best to be careful.

Elijah ate and there is oddly no tension between them. They then got ready and soon enough they are going to Mystic falls.

"Dad I think mom is sad." The youngest said to Elijah.

"She will be okay. You can give her a hug and she will feel better okay?" He said and the youngest seemed sceptical but went to give a hug nonetheless. What if it will really make his mom feel better?

Katherine is suddenly hugged by a tiny body. She didn't question it and gave a big hug in return. Her smile made the boy relieved. A hug seem to work indeed.

She took her phone out and called May. "Clan leader. Are you coming tonight?"

"Where are my eunuchs?"

"They suddenly woke up and went to join the vampire faction. I don't think they remember you but they are loyal to the clan." Of course after joining the clan they will be as loyal as the rest.

"Do you want us to invite Masson and that Tyler? They moved back a while back." Mikel asked.

"Unless they are your plus one. They don't remember me so why bother? I find this endeavor very wasteful, I hope your art talents have all been polished. Because I am conducting a test soon." She dropped the call smiling lightly.

"What about your art? Who wants to learn sword dance?" Katherine asked her kids with a smile.

"It sounds like something girls would be interested in." Andrew said disdainfully.

"Fine. I will do the sword dance but mom. If I do well, you must make a gift for me. A magic gift." Erna said pointing at the pendant on her father's neck.

Katherine remembered and looked at Elijah. She narrowed her eyes. "Where are the bead bracelets I made for the kids?" She asked with a low voice.

"Those were taken by Nadia. She said they are taking too much magic from the kids, they may hinder their growth." He explained calmly.

"They did have space holding their inheritance and then there's the ability to record and store their surroundings. I can't believe I didn't think of that." Katherine frowned.

"We have space bracelets?" Eric asked with happiness.

"Yes. But you need to grow stronger if you want them back. You know, there are videos there of your interactions with the old viking. He loved throwing you guys in the air, you always puked all over him. But he never learned. Haha.." Katherine laughed happily.

"Then there's a lot of mine when I was still pregnant and some after delivery with the clan. But you were meant to access them when when you are 16 years if I didn't make it out sooner." She explained not seeing the shift in everyone's face.

"I think I'll take up sculpting. Maybe June will teach me a thing or two." She rambles when there is sudden silence in the car.

"June opened an architectural company that is doing very good. Of course it is the age of real-estate." Elijah spoke.

"Business? I was just hoping he can meet someone who will understand him and stop him from living in the shadows." Katherine said in response.

"Bobby fell in love with Stefan Salvatore. He died a human shortly after." Elijah said this and saw Katherine's expression as if she is going to be sick.

"I will hold my comment for when kids are not with in hearing distance." She looked sick.

"Damon took the cure to be with Elena. They have a kid now named Stephanie." He continues.

"That's actually nice. Elena made a bad vampire. She must be happy. Why did I think about Davina just now? How is she?"

"....dead." Elijah said and saw Katherine close her eyes.

"I told her to leave that place. What a shame. Such a bright little star." Katherine said sadly.

"Kol died and she wanted to bring him back but the ancestors messed with his mind and well he killed her." He said but Katherine could feel there's more.

"Sad. I guess this is because of yours and Niklaus's enemies?" She asked not looking surprised at all.

"There are kids in the car." Elijah warned.

"Why? You never tell us anything about anything. All you say is 'family is power' but what does that even mean?" Erna said rolling her eyes.

"Don't be frustrated with your father. You will understand him soon enough." Katherine patted her back.

"Mom. Can you tell us something about our aunts and uncles?" Eric said with excited eyes.

"I don't actually know them that well but I do know Klaus. I believe I know him better than I know your father." Katherine said In indulgence. These words made Elijah's hands on the steering wheel tighten.

"Then what can you tell us about him?" Erna asked.

"Katherine.." Elijah spoke softly almost pleadingly.

"He likes it when people fear him. It makes him feel powerful. If you meet him ask him for a scatch. He is an excellent artist. I bet there are 800 to 900 year old portraits painted by him. If you can get him to tell you their location, we can split the profits." She laughed.

"Deal." Erna laughed and agreed.

"How much would they be worth?" The youngest asked.

"Gold." Elijah said smiling.

"Really?" Erna asked excitedly.

"Yes. As a matter of fact, the originals are responsible for many legends and myths. Ask your father for some of them if you can retrieve the crolls with the original writing, it will be worth a fortune." She said thoughtfully.

"Dad.."

"Dad.."

Katherine successfully diverted the conversation to another direction. Elijah gave her a look of gratitude but she ignored him.

They booked a suite at a hotel on the road. "Thank you for not saying anything awful about him to the kids." Elijah said to Katherine and she nodded.

"It isn't easy. But I once said I forgive him so I must keep my word." She said straightforwardly.

"What can I do?" Elijah asked but Katherine is curious.

"What to do with what?"

"For you to forgive me?"

"I am not angry with you Elijah." He knows this, Katherine would have attacked him if she was angry. This is the thing he feared, non response from Katherine is very painful. But deep down he keeps feeling like he will be taken back if he persist.

The next day another car found them and the head of one Tony came out smiling. "Clan leader." He got out of his car and hugged her.

"We have all messed you very much. Paige cried in all our gatherings. Jake is also fed up he went oversees with that witch leader. I am going to the party. After sheriff Forbes died I changed posts now I am a proud owner of a construction company." Tony said without missing a beat.

"Look who I ran into also going home from the airport?" He pointed at a head full of blonde hair in his passenger seat. Caroline Forbes.

"Her mother's 9 year death anniversary is coming up so she is going home." He said. Katherine looked at Carolina then nodded.

"I'll see you at the pack house." There is no way she will waste her breath on this woman.They don't owe each other.

"A party huh?" Elijah asked but Katherine closed her eyes pretending to be asleep. She must still be mad at him for refusing to let her stay in the school.

After entering Mystic falls Elijah had to come out of the car because Rebekah Mikaelson is also in Mystic falls and the two can not be so close to each other.

"Erna take care of your brothers and Eric stop messing around and get to the second phase of your training or else..." He stops watching Katherine yawning as she grabs the steering wheel after adjusting the seat.

"Or else...?" The youngest laughed. "Dad is staring at mom again."

Elijah looked away from Katherine's cute expression. He is glad she is back but she looks to be disregarding him altogether. He came closer to the window and asked.

"Can we talk when you have settled in nicely? I have a flat near here when you have time just call me." He said in a gentle voice.

"Sure." Katherine drove off.

She got off the car and entered the school carrying some of the luggage. She carefully helped the boys unpack and said good bye before going to Erna to do the same. Erna is staying with Hope 'Marshall.'

Katherine greeted the blue eyed girl "Good evening Hope." She said while helping Erna.

"She doesn't talk much mom." Erna spoke softly but Hope heard her and stood up to walk out.

"Ow? Hayley didn't teach her manners? Or she is angry that her father is forced to run away from her? It can't be hormones she is not a teenager." Her words are low musings but Hope widened her eyes in shock.

"You know my parents?" Hope asked. She seems nervous but her eyes are full of longing. Then her expression morphed into horror. "How did you know who I am?"

"You have the power of a witch, werewolf bloodline and vampire scent. There's only one such girl child in the world." Katherine said.

"Are you also one of my father's enemies?" The girl asked but Katherine only smiled.

"If I was, your father would be dead or dying or both." Katherine rolled her eyes.

"Mom..." Erna complained and Katherine turned her attention back to the stationary she was organizing.

She ignored Hope's burnig gaze to focus on the job. When they finished she offered to have supper in the local restuarant.

"Is it fine to go out of school?" Erna asked her mom who smiled and nodded.

"The place is not a jail." She went straight to Alaric Saltzman finding him in his office.

"I heard you got married and had children. How bold." Katherine said walking into his office.

"Excuse me?" Alaric doesn't know this woman but her tone when speaking to him is always familiar as if she knows him very well.

"You got married again after what the last one did to you? You are truly a daredevil. If I ware you I would have sworn off women for life." Katherine walked towards his book case taking out one book and flipping it open.

"What do you know about me?" He spat in anger.

"I know Niklaus used your body as a meat suit to infiltrate Elena's little gang and then made up his mind to kill Bonnie that day." She smiled at him when his eyes flickered.

"I see you have read Stefan Salvatore's journal." He scoffed.

"Does it also record how you became a murderous psycho going around killing innocent people because your soul was fractured by that abominable Bennett ring?" This information would never be left for students to read, how will they look at their principal is a murder.

"What do you want?" He gritted out.

"I want a teaching post here. Something fun like weapons instructor or combat trainer." She smiled. "I want to be close to protect my children. We both know how much of a death trap this place is."

Alaric Saltzman frowned at the words. "Nothing has happened so far."

"You want to wait until something happens to get the students ready?"

"It's not the school's objective to make them violent." He argues.

"But Hope Mikelson can be violent?" She tilted her head.

"I'm curious, you are paying so much attention to a girl who is not your own daughter while ignoring your own children why?"

"That is non of your business." He got defensive.

"Alright. But other students should be able to protect themselves should a need arise especially my children. It's not just those whom you deem worthy that should learn to defend themselves." She is just making a fuss, she saw how powerful her children are.

"I will agree to it if Elijah calls and express his agreement." He said in annoyance, Katherine frowned remembering how Elijah was against the idea.

Katherine narrowed her eyes slightly and when it seemed like she has been looking at him for too long she turned and took her baby out to eat. Alaric always felt like he was stared at by a venomous snake just now.

Katherine looked at the menu with deep concentration. Erna narrowed her eyes at her "Did the principal anger you some how?"

"Uhmh.." Katherine glared at the menu. They ate in silence but Katherine caught sight of someone familiar.

That niht, Alaric fell asleep and saw his wife's death in the dream. All night he couldn't sleep, every time he fell asleep it happened again with such accurate detail he would wake up screaming and his body drenched in sweat.

He went to run until he fell unconscious from exhaustion but in the morning he woke up screaming again. When Emma saw his state she examined him. She looked at him with concern and told him what she found out.

"You are cursed." Hearing her Alaric is shocked.

"Who? Could it be one of the students?" He asked but Emma shook her head.

"It can't be. This was done deliberately and by a very powerful witch. Did you anger someone with this description?"

"No.." His eyes shot open in shock.

"Katherine."
