Chapter 8: Another Terrifying night
It seems the daytime is shorter than the night this time. I feel like someone is observing us from a distance. The demons' howls can be heard from the distance, and everyone shivered in fear again. All of them are really afraid and don't know what to do.
They locked all the doors and windows of their houses, and others were hiding inside their cabinets while most were hiding under their beds. Some people also huddled in one place, hiding themselves with blankets. Each of them wanted to live, but sometimes, in exchange, are the good deeds of the people who saved their lives.
"Why aren't these demons tired of chasing and searching for people to bite?" I heard Drake complaining.
I gazed at him. "Because they are starving for human flesh, and remember they are animals from another dimension," I answered his question, and he drew his attention to me.
Marcelene spoke, admitting I have a point. "She's right, and this unending starving will never end here."
"Get ready," I coldly uttered. "Don't let your guard down," I stated before I leaped into the air, crossed my arms, and made my sword double as I slashed the two demons and landed on the ground.
I slowly stood up. "That was cool, babe!" Covyn blabbered.
"Don't call me babe, you fool!" I shouted; it is evident on my face how irritated I am.
I really hate this guy for calling me that way, and he's really insulting me. Who the hell is he to call me that kind of old endearment? Isn't he terrified of what he's calling me? Isn't he terrified that the way he insulted and called me like that, he might be the next to face death followed by these demons?
Marcelene jumped across the room to the left, throwing electricity at the demons with her electric gun. As their numbers continued to decrease, they continued to multiply over and over. It's unending killing; these demons are so exhausting, and they multiplied as time went on.
"I hate being a huntress ever!" I overheard Neima complain.
"You need to bear with that; you chose it," Zylia spoke as she cut all the demons in half with her blade.
I saw some people peering from their window panes, their tears welling up, and trembling with fear. I signaled them to hide and never peer out from their window panes. I spotted demons trying to get into the house where I saw the woman crying. As I was about to attack the demon, Neima struck it with the bow of her arrow. The demon slowly burned up and turned to ashes.
"This place is really dangerous," Marcelene commented.
Neima turned her attention to me. "You know how to leave this town, right?" she asked.
"Why did you ask for it?" I inquired back as we were fighting these demons.
"We need to save these people from this town, and I want you to take them to a safer place," Neima replied, grunting as she pulled an arrow from her back.
Neima struck a demon with her arrow, directly into its mouth. The demon slowly burned up and turned into black ashes. We are now in the middle of chaos, and this apocalypse really restricted people from their movements and enjoying the rest of their lives because of this threat.
"I can't do that because once I take them there, the present will become different, and it might get worse," I responded, explaining the consequences.
"You should take the risks then!" I heard Covyn arrogantly shout at me.
I was bursting with anger when I saw his expression; he seemed to be laughing at me. "You can't take the risks unless you want to lose your life!" I yelled at him as I continued fighting these disciples of darkness.
My eyes glowed, and my body rose into the air as I summoned thunder, striking all the remaining demons. They were burning up and becoming ashes as they slowly faded into the air, but what's most horrifying is that once their numbers decrease, they multiply into more than that number.
"Listen, we can't reduce all of these disciples of darkness by just killing them," I stated, based on my observations.
"We can only reduce them by the power of our minds," I replied, but I heard someone laughing.
Covyn spoke. "What? Do we have any telepathy, hot chick?" he queried, insulting me.
"Covyn!" I shouted furiously. "This isn't the right time for your nonsense jokes."
"Then what are we going to do?" he asked, seeming so arrogant.
"They sense our fears; that's why we aggressively kill them, but if we use our minds to be fearless," I responded, grunting as I kept fighting. "We can end their lives easily," I finished explaining what he must consider and understand.
"Let's try what she said," Marcelene suggested.
Covyn seemed not going to cooperate. "We need to trust her," Neima urged him, so even though Covyn thought twice, he still cooperated.
We all closed our eyes, removing our fears from our hearts and minds as we slowly ran toward the demons with our weapons. We took a deep breath and slowly opened our eyes, determined to put an end to this chaos. I could sense the fears of all the people in this town, but we must consider this battle a trophy to win.
I shouted, swaying my sword at these disciples of darkness coming my way, cutting them in half. They slowly burned up and faded as they turned to ashes. I was catching my breath, but I'm glad it worked. The fear they sense from us is what made them multiply over and over; that's why we need to try our best to be fearless warriors.
"This isn't the end," Neima stated firmly. "It's just a beginning."
"We'll keep fighting, together," I agreed as we saw all the demons slowly fading without multiplying in number.
"I didn't know you were cleverer than I thought," Covyn commented, and he's losing my temper.
