Chapter 7: The Great Warrior
Night had come, the sun starting to set in the west. Only a few minutes remained for these individuals to make it inside their houses and prepare for the new curse of the night. It was unbearable, but they had to be careful with those beings, for they possessed a strong sense.
Their weakness was the sun; the rays and light of day would burn them if they were touched by it. Darkness wrapped around every corner of this place. Suddenly, a loud howl echoed in the distance, coming from the west where the sun sank into the shadows.
Solari tapped my shoulder. "Fight them," she urged me, her voice steady.
Claudia glanced at me with determination. "You can do this. There are only five minutes left before the demons arrive."
I looked at the blade in my hand. "Okay," I stated, exhaling heavily. "I will engage in this combat."
I raised the sword into the air, closing my eyes as a violet aura swirled around me until I vanished from view. When I opened my eyes, I found myself outside, witnessing the arrival of demons. They charged toward me from the north, their forms dark and menacing. My eyes glowed in purple light as armor cascaded over my body, enveloping me in protection.
With a swift motion, I slashed the sword into the ground, unleashing a powerful breeze that knocked the demons off their feet. They growled loudly, their saliva dripping from their snarling mouths. My eyes glowed once again as the blade began to radiate light, lifting me into the air. Thunder rumbled through the gloomy night, and I pointed my sword down to strike the demons with a bolt of lightning.
I heard Marcelene speak in amazement, "I didn't know that's how strong she is."
Neima had just arrived, her expression one of shock as she witnessed the thunder striking the demons, turning some into black ashes. I glanced back, and her eyes widened further when she saw the glow in my eyes. They collectively cleared their throats, astonished by the power I wielded.
I felt the presence of the Blade of Shadows until I saw Covyn Reeve jumping down from the roof, pointing his sword at me, ready to slash. I used my sword to slash the dusty ground and create a strong breeze that made him turn in the north direction and fall to the ground.
"Mr. Arrogant, you can't trick me," I coldly uttered.
My eyes glowed as I raised my sword in the air, summoning the thunder. The thunder was coming out from the dark sky, and it was about to strike him, but I heard Neima.
She stepped in front and yelled, "Don't!"
I put the sword down and raised the thunder as I turned around. "What's the matter?" I coldly inquired.
"I understand your frustration, but please don't kill him, and I am the one who offers apologies," she responded, her body trembling as she knelt down.
I felt the presence of the Blade of Shadows until I saw Covyn Reeve jump from the roof, pointing her sword at me, ready to strike. I used my sword to slash the dusty ground, creating a strong breeze that spun him northward; he fell again.
"Mr. Arrogant, I told you that you cannot deceive me, especially with my visions," I pronounced coldly, my eyes sharply set on him.
My eyes glowed. I raised my sword, summoning thunder. Thunder came from the dark sky, about to strike him, when I heard Neima.
She stepped forward again, her eyes filled with worry and concern about him until she decided to yell, "Don't do that, please." Her expression was painted with fear and begging me not to.
I paused, turning my attention to her. "What's bothering you again if I make his existence disappear in this chaotic world?"
My voice was firm, as was etched on my face how furious I was since this guy was actually adding more chaos!
She took a deep breath. "I understand your resentment due to his behavior, but please spare his life," her voice was pleading as her orbs drew a look of fear.
I sensed demons approaching. I redirected the thunder, striking them all. All the demon hunters and huntresses were dazed by what they witnessed. Neima started attacking with her bow and arrow. Covyn Reeve woke up and slowly stood. He sat on the ground. A demon was about to bite him, but Marcelene fired her electric gun.
Covyn glanced behind him, then at her. "Thanks, Marcelene," he said slowly, picking up his sword and slowly standing.
Zylia looked at me. "What?" I raised my eyebrow.
"Great warrior, what's the plan?" she asked arrogantly.
"It's up to you; I'm going solo," I replied, hopping to the ground.
I crossed my hands. We were surprised when my sword suddenly became two. I slashed all the demons as I landed, lacerating them one by one until they slowly burned up, becoming black ashes that faded into the air. I slammed the swords into the ground, summoning the thunder again.
I have no powers; I'm just an ordinary girl, but this sword makes me extraordinary. This feels like a great adventure, but there's danger in claiming this sword.
"Whoever you are, violet-haired and eyed girl, you should leave!" Covyn called out, directing his index finger
at me.
I exhaled and gazed at him sharply. "Why would I do that if people need me here?" I queried.
"You ruined this night and stole the demons we should have killed!" she yelled, pointing at me.
"There are a lot of demons coming," I answered, ignoring her.
The demons were coming from the same direction, their backs together, while I leaped into the air. The sword made me float above them; my eyes started to glow. I really have no idea what was happening, and I guess the sword was controlling me to fight these disciples of darkness.
As the demons approached, I saw Claudia and Solari peeking from the window, giving me thumbs-up before hiding. These hunter and huntress warriors were running to attack these demons, their swords prepared to kill these disciples of darkness.
"Just be safe," I mumbled.
"I will kill you all!" Covyn shouted and slashed at the demons hard.
I swirled my sword, forming a strong breeze to push them away, summoning thunder to strike each demon. Marcelene was kicking them and jumping above them, firing her electric gun. Drake used his dual swords to slash them all. It may be hard to fight these demons, but we need to.
"Damn these demons," Zylia complained, slashing them with her sword.
