Episode 039
Episode 039
The two of us facing each other.
At first, I didn’t exactly understand what Park Jun was saying.
It sounded like he was talking about having a confrontation.
‘A confrontation… What? A fight?’
Certainly, Park Jun’s eyes and voice had quite an aggressive feel.
But we weren’t middle or high school students, so talking about a confrontation didn’t make sense.
Even middle or high school students wouldn’t suddenly do such a thing.
Besides, this was a filming set.
Of course, some actors did throw punches even on set.
But there wasn’t even a point of contact between Park Jun and me to cause such an incident.
To begin with, tomorrow was the first day we were filming a scene together.
We hadn’t even built enough rapport to cause any trouble.
‘Ah! Could it be that he’s expressing tomorrow’s joint filming as us facing each other?’
I belatedly understood Park Jun’s meaning.
Come to think of it, as mentioned earlier, I had worked with most actors, but I hadn’t had the chance with Park Jun.
‘Why is that?’
The reason wasn’t hard to figure out.
Because Kim Won-young was Kim In-young’s brother, writer Kim Hee-soo had intentionally postponed the meeting with Jang Hyuk-jun.
If Jang Hyuk-jun met Kim Won-young before enough emotions had built up, it could become a big obstacle in the love line of the main leads.
After all, the existence of a younger brother generally isn’t favorable to the sister’s love interest.
So there hadn’t been any notable opportunity for Park Jun and me to work together, and we were finally shooting our first scene in episode 3.
The first scene with the main male lead.
No matter how I tried to attach meaning to it, honestly, I wasn’t very excited.
I already knew what kind of skills Park Jun had.
Perhaps my thoughts showed on my face.
Park Jun raised one eyebrow and asked.
“Why? Is it uncomfortable for you to act with me?”
I quickly shook my head and answered.
“Not at all. Rather, it’s an honor to be able to work with you, senior.”
Park Jun seemed to accept my answer and nodded immediately.
Judging by his reaction, it seemed my thoughts hadn’t shown on my face.
However…
I couldn’t understand why Park Jun’s tone felt aggressive.
It was similar to when I faced Ji Jung-hyun, but subtly different.
While Ji Jung-hyun’s tone felt caring within indifference, Park Jun’s tone felt like a strange excitement within sharpness.
Excitement?
Was Park Jun really a face-con?
Lee Joo-yeon’s words kept coming to mind, and I felt somewhat scared.
At that moment, Park Jun, who had been staring at my face, suddenly turned his head and started walking away.
Then, with his head turned, he muttered.
“I’m looking forward to tomorrow too.”
What did he just say…?
I wanted to ask again what he had said, but Park Jun had already walked quite far.
Even if he had been close, Park Jun’s back view looked somewhat blunt, so I probably couldn’t have asked.
That’s when Yeo Kyung-chan, who had been waiting for a chance to approach me, spoke up.
“Actor, we should go wait. I have some warm coffee here.”
“Yes, we should. Thank you for the coffee. Did you buy it from a cafe?”
“Jin-ah bought it. She went for a short walk. What did you talk about with Actor Park Jun?”
After asking this question, Yeo Kyung-chan started drinking the hot coffee he was holding.
I watched him for a moment, then looked back to where Park Jun had disappeared and answered.
“Well… How should I put this? A conversation about us facing each other?”
Surprised, Yeo Kyung-chan spat out the hot coffee.
“Cough. What? What?”
I quickly spoke to reassure Yeo Kyung-chan.
“Ah, I’m sorry. The expression was a bit strange, wasn’t it? It was just a normal conversation about filming.”
So, I moved with Yeo Kyung-chan to start waiting.
After that, the day’s filming was completed safely without any particular incidents.
* * *
Since there was filming for two consecutive days, I arrived early on set the next day as well.
Today was a day to film with Team A under Director Kang Han-sung after a long time.
This meant that all the scenes we had to shoot today were related to the main leads.
As my confidence had increased quite a bit through the filming so far, I cautiously predicted that the schedule would be completed smoothly.
‘There shouldn’t be any problems.’
Just as I was greeting the staff as usual and about to go to the waiting area,
I saw Jung Se-hee who had just arrived on set, and I approached her first and bowed.
“Hello, senior. I look forward to working with you on today’s filming as well.”
Jung Se-hee received my greeting with a bright expression, clapping her hands once.
“Nice to see you, Si-joon. It feels like it’s been almost a week. Have you been well?”
“Yes, I’ve been well. I heard Team A re-shot some scenes from the beginning. Is that true?”
The reason I hadn’t worked with Team A for a while wasn’t simply because there were no scenes with the main leads.
Rather, given the setting of being a close sibling, I had quite a few scenes to film with Jung Se-hee.
Yet, the reason I was meeting Jung Se-hee after so long was because Team A had been doing re-shoots recently.
I heard that Director Kang Han-sung had requested the re-shoots.
It wasn’t common, but there were times when a director would request re-shoots during the editing process.
Sometimes critical issues would come to light belatedly.
Sometimes these things happened at the writer’s request as well.
But this case was different.
It wasn’t the director or the writer who requested the re-shoots.
“Ah, yes. It’s true. Park Jun asked for re-shoots of some scenes. The director gladly accepted the suggestion. So we’ve been quite busy.”
“So it was Senior Park Jun who asked for the re-shoots. I thought the director had requested it.”
“That’s strange. Did such a rumor spread in Team B? Why?”
I was curious too about why such a rumor had spread.
Then suddenly, I thought it might be because of Team B director’s tendency.
Team B’s director, being cautious, didn’t easily spread just any words.
But sometimes, this attitude could lead to misunderstandings.
‘Even if there’s a misunderstanding, it’s not something that would cause problems…’
I made a mental note to step in next time to clear up the misunderstanding, and replied.
“Well, I’m not sure of the reason either.”
“Hmm. Anyway, the re-shoots were specifically requested by Park Jun.”
“I see.”
“Yes. And I also mentioned that I’d like to re-shoot a few scenes during that process, so the schedule was extended a bit.”
“Ah, you also requested re-shoots, senior?”
“Looking back, there were too many scenes I wasn’t satisfied with.”
“Ah…”
“If I could, I’d like to re-shoot everything, but that would be inconsiderate. So I just picked a few.”
Having experienced re-shoots through
‘Come to think of it, the director has now done re-shoots for two consecutive projects?’
Although there wasn’t a case of actor replacement like last time, I couldn’t help but think that Director Kang Han-sung was going through a lot of trouble in many ways.
“You’ve worked hard.”
“The hard work was done by others because of my and Park Jun’s greed. Especially the director had a hard time. It’s two consecutive projects with re-shoots, after all.”
“That’s right. It happened to turn out that way. But it should have been fine since the re-shoots weren’t due to other problems. It was for the sake of a better production, after all.”
“That’s true. Park Jun and I are satisfied with the re-shot portions. It’s all thanks to you, Si-joon.”
My name suddenly coming up here.
I asked back, puzzled.
“Pardon? What is?”
But Jung Se-hee didn’t seem to want to answer my question readily.
“You really don’t know? You’ll understand after working with Park Jun and me today. Why I said this.”
Then she called the stylist and started to touch up her makeup.
‘What’s this about?’
It was frustrating that the question remained unanswered, but I didn’t press for more reasons and moved to my position.
And shortly after, the filming with Jung Se-hee began.
“Ready! Cue!”
* * *
The filming with Jung Se-hee wrapped up comfortably.
Above all, what was good was that Jung Se-hee’s acting now felt natural.
It seemed she had been working hard all this time.
‘For her skills to improve so dramatically… I can understand why she wanted to re-shoot all the scenes.’
At first, I thought maybe she was just good at one scene.
But as the filming continued, I had to admit that Jung Se-hee’s acting had improved.
It felt like Jung Se-hee had regained the skills she showed in her previous work, which made me feel quite good.
With the main female lead’s acting skills improved, wouldn’t the evaluation of improve as well?
After finishing the morning shoot like that, I had a light lunch.
While waiting for a bit, the assistant director came looking for me.
It meant to prepare for the next scene’s filming.
I moved to the set with Yeo Kyung-chan and saw Park Jun standing to one side.
I quickly bowed my head, but Park Jun ignored me.
‘Is he immersed in his role?’
I didn’t think much of Park Jun’s reaction and moved in front of the camera.
It was common for actors to forget greetings when immersed in their roles.
I too stood to one side to get into the emotions to become Kim Won-young.
Soon after, the start signal came from Director Kang Han-sung.
“Ready! Cue!”
With the signal, Park Jun’s closed eyes opened, and I couldn’t help but be surprised.
Because Park Jun had become Jang Hyuk-jun in an instant.
I was momentarily taken aback, feeling like I was witnessing the Jang Hyuk-jun from the Method Mask in real life.
But I soon started to immerse myself in the acting.
Rather, I was more immersed than usual.
It would be strange if I couldn’t immerse myself with Jang Hyuk-jun right in front of me.
* * *
I open the front door and make eye contact with Jang Hyuk-jun.
Jang Hyuk-jun, dressed smartly in a suit, standing in front of a foreign car.
Because it looked suspicious to anyone, I cautiously approach and ask.
“…Who are you?”
“You look alike.”
“Look alike with who?”
“This is Kim In-young’s house, right?”
“Wow, I thought so, but you mention my sister’s name.”
“So it is.”
“Yes, this is Kim In-young’s house. But the name on the deed isn’t my sister’s, it’s mine.”
“The deed?”
“Yes, the deed. It’s exactly in my name, Kim Won-young. How much did my sister borrow?”
“Ah… Such a misunderstanding…”
“Never mind that. Just tell me the principal amount first. I think I’d be too shocked if I hear the interest.”
“Does your sister often borrow money?”
“That’s not the case, but I’m saying this because there’s no possibility that you’re either my sister’s company superior or her boyfriend.”
“Hmm.”
“By the way, loan sharks are doing well these days. Employing such a handsome person. Good-looking face, are you also good at fighting?”
“The siblings are exactly alike in writing a novel on the spot. Anyway, I’m not a loan shark employee.”
“Then what are you? Random passerby number 13?”
“I’m your sister’s company superior and…”
“Gasp.”
“Your sister’s boyfriend.”
“…Oh, crap.”
