Chapter 5: 5
Frenchie and Amanda, who were kissing, naked, separated when they heard a scream. Both immediately grabbed their clothes and put them on.
"Go into the tent, I'll see what happened," Frenchie said, and Amanda nodded, returning to the tent and closing it.
Frenchie ran toward the scream and, when he arrived, he saw a scene he would never forget. He saw Wade, or at least part of him. He saw the top of his skull on the ground. Eyes wide open, he turned to run back to the camp, but ran straight into a tall, strong man who was watching him.
His face was hidden in the shadows. When Frenchie was about to say something, Jason approached him with abnormal speed, grabbed him by the neck, and lifted him.
Shocked by the situation, Frenchie tried to break free, throwing punches at his attacker's arm, but to his surprise, the arm didn't move. Feeling the grip getting tighter, Frenchie panicked, unable to breathe. Intensifying his punches, he trembled with fear when he saw the man raise the machete with his other hand.
He only felt a burning sensation in his stomach. When he looked down, blood was pouring out. One second later, his brain reacted and he felt the pain, but didn't have time to register it properly, as the man delivered a series of stabs with the machete that were faster than he could see. And he felt no more pain, only cold. He couldn't feel anything anymore, and his vision darkened.
Even after Frenchie's death, Jason continued the stabs. He only stopped when the lower part of Frenchie's body detached from the upper part and fell to the ground.
Throwing the body away as if it were a sack of trash, Jason went toward the camp, and moments later, female screams were heard.
"Whitney, let's go back. We've been walking for hours," Mike said. He was tired, hungry, and his girlfriend's insistence was starting to make him angry.
Whitney didn't answer. She was looking around. When she was about to agree with Mike and head back to camp, she spotted a house.
"Mike, maybe Matt is in that house. Let's take a look," Whitney said, hurrying her steps toward the abandoned cabin.
Mike followed her in a bad mood, grumbling about how, since Matt joined the group, he had only brought problems.
Matt, who had been following Whitney after she left, saw them enter the seemingly abandoned cabin.
Minutes later, he saw Jason coming out of the woods, covered in blood, and entering the house.
Using a small visualization spell, he saw Mike being brutally killed, his head crushed, and Whitney desperately trying to escape. Frowning, he was ready to act but stopped when he realized that Jason only knocked her out.
"He really thinks she's his mother... I'll come back tomorrow. With the light of day, my powers will be stronger." Seeing that his plan was working, Matt slowly moved away from the cabin to avoid being heard and headed toward the camp.
Looking around, Matt grimaced when he saw Amanda, or what was left of her, in the middle of the fire.
Matt only recognized her by her feminine silhouette, as the body was completely charred, and there was no way to recognize physical features.
At that moment, Matt wondered if he had really done the right thing by acting with such indifference toward these people. Staring at the charred body, he sighed.
"One step at a time, Matt. One step at a time. Just focus on sending this monster to hell," he mentally repeated to himself several times. He entered a tent and began meditating to clear his mind and prepare for the battle that lay ahead.
