The Dungeon Tree

Chapter 32: Holiday Special 1/2

"Hey John, did you hear about the event they're holding at the town plaza? It's supposed to be about the holiday coming up." Steven said.

Steven wasn't wearing his usual attire, instead he wore a red sweater with a scarf around his neck.

"I did hear about the event coming up, though I never celebrated it because of how poor my village was. What's worse is that it's going through a drought right now." I said.

I never got the chance to enjoy the holidays when I was younger due to the fact that my family was poor. When I was younger it was considered a miracle to receive anything on the holidays. Thankfully for me I left the village and made a good amount of money doing quests.

"I'm sorry to hear that John. I wish that I could relate but my life has been quite the opposite. I was born into a noble family so I had an easy life." Alice said, walking down the stairs entering the living room.

Alice walked over to a bookshelf and grabbed a random book off of it before sitting down near the fire place. I was caught of guard by Alice's comment.

"You're noble blood? That's surprising, with how you act I would have never taken you as one of noble blood." I said bluntly. Alice let out a deep breath before slamming her book shut and throwing it at my head.

"Screw you too jackass. I never liked how all the nobles acted, they were all too fancy for me." Alice said flicking me off before walking back upstairs.

I let out a small sigh and picked up the book she threw at me. I walked towards where Alice had taken the book and put it back in its place. Suddenly the front door slammed open and Bubbles alongside April came through.

"What are you guys still doing cooped up in here? C'mon guys, let's go check out was stuff they have at the festival!" Bubbles said, practically dragging me and Steven out the door and into the town.

The town was full of bright colors. The sound of people talking and laughing could be heard from all directions. As I looked at my surroundings I felt someone bump into me. I turned around to see what hit me and saw a small girl laying on the ground. While she sat there I noticed a couple kids that looked her age pass by.

"I'm sorry, I should have watched where I was going." Said the kid. She picked herself up and tried to catch up to the kids that had passed me not to long ago.

"This place is more crowded than usual. Is it usually like this? I mostly spend this kind of time alone training or spending time with my brother when he was still around." I said.

After I left my village to go on a quest to get stronger I never celebrated this holiday. It had been so long since I thought about it that I ended up forgetting its name.

"Stop looking so gloomy. Now's not the time to be moping around, but instead it should be spent hanging out with friends and family." April said. April waved Steven and Bubbled off and dragged me through the town.

After a while I ended up in the town square. That's when I heard a large crashing noise come next to me. I turned my head to see what made that noise and saw a man in a red coat and had a red hat who had an evil look on his face.

"I will ruin this year's Feast of Winter! But first let me explain my long and uninteresting backstory!"
