Chapter 31: Capture the Flag

"Our third challenge will be a match of capture the flag. The teams will be divided in half by thirty-two. As I hope you guys can see this arena is quite big. Not to mention the fact that it can do something cool." Daz said. Daz lifted his arm up and kept it up for a bit. Finally he brought his arm down.

The arena started to shake suddenly causing me to almost lose balance. As the ground shook, small hills began to appear and grass began to grow. Finally, two bases were set on the opposite side of each other.

The ground finally stopped shaking. I looked around me and noticed that there was a crack in the wall dividing everyone equally. 'Was the terrain dividing everyone equally an accident or a coincidence?' I thought to myself.

"Now that we're all evenly divided we can begin our third challenge. Good luck everyone!" Yelled Daz.

Thankfully, I ended up having the people who placed first and second on my side so I was feeling confident. Steven walked next to me and took out his weapon.

Before I could unsheathe my weapon I felt something that caused me to freeze. A large sudden feeling of dread came over me. All of a sudden the feelings of dread went away. I looked around to see what happened but saw nothing out of the ordinary. In fact, it seemed like nobody even realized what happened.

"What was that? There's no way that was my imagination, it just felt to real. Someone here has something terrifying they're hiding and I don't know who it is." I said to myself. As I thought to myself, a large man tried hitting me with a hammer but I dodged it.

Before I could attempt to attack the man, Ashe appeared behind him and shot the guy in the back. The man staggered a bit but didn't fall over. Instead, he turned around swinging his hammer in the direction he was turning. Julia appeared from the crowd and blocked the hammer with her own.

"Like a bunch of little shrimp like you can beat me. That's never gonna happen. Now let me smash you all to bits!" The man yelled, attempting to attack Julia. Before he could strike Ashe fired a round of arrows hitting the man in the arm. The man staggered once more but this time he fell over.

"Thanks to some magic I picked up a while ago I can put people to sleep when I hit them. Now come on, there's a flag we need to capture." Ashe said.

'They work well as a team.' I thought to myself. Ashe and Julia began to run towards the enemy base while I followed them with Steven at my side.

"Let's be careful John, they most likely have strong people guarding the flag. I don't want us getting completely destroyed and end up losing." Steven said. I nodded and put my hand near the hilt of my blade for quick access if we got attacked again.
