Chapter 4: Chapter 4
Eliana nodded, saying she would obey her father's wishes. Mr. Josh advised her to be strong and keep fear aside, explaining that she couldn't win if she allowed fear to creep in. Eliana told him she understood and left.
When Eliana got home, Jason ran to her happily, calling out "Big sis!" Eliana carried him up, smiling at him and waving at Royalty, who had come over to help. Eliana explained everything to Royalty, who was boiling with anger. But Eliana asked Royalty to calm down and help her move things to the first mansion, as the current place now belonged to Layla and her stepmother.
Royalty bit her lips and agreed to help her best friend move out. Eliana called the moving company, and they moved her things to the first mansion, helping her unpack.
Jason looked up to his sister and asked, "Sis, why did we move?" Eliana went down to his size, tickling him, which made him laugh. She told him that the first place would remind them of their parents. Jason nodded in agreement and said, "Okay, sis," in his tiny voice. He climbed up to a stool to help his sister unpack.
The day of the meeting with the board of directors arrived. Henry, the lawyer, distributed photocopied versions of the will to the board of directors. They looked at Eliana and told her that if she were married or if she were a boy, they wouldn't have issues with her. However, they couldn't take the risk of allowing an unmarried 24-year-old to manage the company.
Mr. Josh, who was also present, glared at them. "How can you judge her just because she's a girl? Don't you also have daughters at home? Especially you, Mr. Martins, who only has five daughters. Would you really not allow your daughters to inherit your businesses just because they're girls?"
Lisa chimed in, saying she was Layla's mom and would be the one managing the company until Layla got married. With that, they all looked at Eliana, who was biting her tongue.
She immediately said the first thing that entered her mind: "Just give me six months; I'll get married." With this, Layla laughed at her, saying, "Do you even have a boyfriend at 24 who will want to marry you that fast?"
Martin, who had lowered his head in shame when Mr. Josh mentioned his daughters, stood up and said he agreed to give Eliana six months to get married. With this, the other board members agreed.
After the meeting, Mr. Josh, Henry, and Eliana went down to the car park, where Tobias was waiting for them. He glared at Mr. Josh and asked Henry if his brother had really not left anything for him.
Mr. Josh laughed, saying, "You really want your brother to give you some inheritance? The nerve! You took everything your father left for both of you and ran off. You sold all the companies and lands Damien built from scratch. Now you're talking about inheritance? What a joke!"
He grabbed Eliana and left. Tobias gritted his teeth and said, "I'm Eliana and Jason's guardian." Henry immediately gave him a document stating that Jason was under Mr. Josh's custody, and if Mr. Josh was unavailable, Jason would be under the Niadis' protection. If Eliana wasn't yet of age, she would also be under the Niadis' protection.
With that, Henry left with Mr. Josh and Eliana. Tobias, who was standing and staring at the vehicle leaving, said, "My big brother really planned everything before his demise. He seemed to know my little scheme." With that, he brought out a cigarette and lit it, going back to his car.
At the second mansion, Lisa and Layla had already moved in. They were searching through Eliana's room, looking for important things, but noticed that Eliana had moved everything, including her mother's belongings and those of her father.
Layla gritted her teeth, saying, "That bitch! I didn't know she was that smart!" Lisa chuckled, "I knew she was as smart as her mother, but I didn't know she was better. She even said she will get married in six months! Well, let's watch the show and see how it goes."
Layla gave her mom a knowing look, saying, "Mom, what do you plan to do?" Lisa smirked.
