Chapter 23: chapter 23
Eliana's POV:
I picked up my phone and dialed the agent's number. He had been searching for a contract husband for me for weeks, and I was starting to get anxious.
"Hello?" the agent answered on the first ring.
"Hi, Agent Thompson," I said. "I was just calling to see if you had made any progress in finding a contract husband for me."
There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, I worried that he hadn't found anyone.
But then he spoke up. "Actually, yes. I think I've found someone who might be a good match for you."
My heart skipped a beat as I felt a surge of excitement. "Really? Who is he?"
The agent chuckled. "His name is Alexander. He's a businessman who is looking for a contract marriage to help him secure a business deal. He's wealthy, handsome, and charming."
I felt a pang of skepticism. "And what's the catch?"
The agent hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Well, there is one thing. He's a bit of a playboy, and he has a reputation for being ruthless in business."
I frowned, feeling a little uncertain. But then I remembered why I was doing this in the first place - to keep my father's wealth away from my stepmother and stepsister.
"Okay," I said finally. "I'll meet with him."
The agent sounded pleased. "Great. I'll set up a meeting for tomorrow afternoon."
I nodded, even though he couldn't see me. "Sounds good. Thanks, Agent Thompson."
I hung up the phone, feeling a mix of emotions. I was excited to meet Alexander, but I was also nervous. What would he be like? Would we be compatible?
I pushed the thoughts aside and focused on the task at hand. I had a meeting with Alexander tomorrow, and I needed to be prepared.
Alexander's POV:
I sat in my office, staring out the window as I thought about the meeting I had set up with Eliana. My business partner had been breathing down my neck to get married, and I knew that I needed to find a wife soon.
That's when I had remembered the agent who specialized in arranging contract marriages. I had contacted him, and he had told me about Eliana - a beautiful and intelligent woman who was looking for a contract husband.
I had to admit, I was intrigued. I had always been a bit of a playboy, and the idea of settling down with one woman was a bit daunting. But I knew that it was necessary if I wanted to secure the business deal that would take my company to the next level.
I stood up and walked over to the mirror, adjusting my tie. I was a bit nervous about the meeting, but I was confident that I could charm Eliana into agreeing to marry me.
After all, I was Alexander - a wealthy and successful businessman with a reputation for getting what I wanted. And what I wanted right now was Eliana.
Eliana's POV:
I sat in front of the mirror, smoothing out my dress and checking my makeup for what felt like the hundredth time. I was nervous about the meeting with Alexander, and I couldn't help but wonder what he would be like.
The agent had told me that Alexander was a wealthy and successful businessman, but that didn't necessarily mean that he was a good person. I had been burned before by men who seemed perfect on the surface but turned out to be not so great.
I took a deep breath and stood up, smoothing out my dress one last time. I was ready for this meeting, and I was determined to make a good impression.
As I walked out of the office building, I saw a sleek black car waiting for me at the curb. The driver got out and opened the door for me, and I slid into the backseat, feeling a little like royalty.
The car pulled up in front of a luxurious high-rise building, and the driver got out to open the door for me again. I stepped out of the car and looked up at the building, feeling a little intimidated.
This was it. This was the moment of truth. I took a deep breath, squared my shoulders, and walked into the building
I stepped into the luxurious penthouse apartment, my eyes scanning the room for any sign of Alexander. The agent had told me that he was a wealthy and successful businessman, and the opulent decor of the apartment only reinforced that impression.
As I looked around, a figure emerged from the shadows. He was tall, with piercing blue eyes and chiseled features that seemed to have been carved out of granite. His dark hair was perfectly styled, and his tailored suit seemed to have been made specifically for him.
"Alexander," I said, extending my hand.
He smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Eliana," he replied, taking my hand in his.
His handshake was firm, but not crushing. I felt a spark of electricity as our hands touched, and I quickly pulled my hand back, feeling a little flustered.
"Please, have a seat," Alexander said, gesturing to the couch.
I sat down, trying to compose myself. Alexander sat down across from me, a small smile still playing on his lips.
"So, Eliana," he said. "Tell me a little bit about yourself."
