Chapter 956 956: Ella's Jealousy
Cassie's hands trembled as she continued to gently shake Flint's motionless body, her expression painted with concern and urgency. In that moment of distress, the luminous flying orb materialized before her once again
"Fear not, for this seeker has successfully navigated through every trial," the melodious voice of the orb echoed in the air. "His exhaustion is purely physical and mental. He has fallen unconscious solely due to the necessity of rest."
Relief washed over Cassie as the orb's words brought a glimmer of hope. She leaned back, her worry slowly fading away as she gazed upon Flint's serene yet fatigued face. With a deep breath, Cassie softened her touch on Flint's shoulder.
Cassie's features softened, a mix of gratitude and relief painting her face as she looked towards the orb. "Thank you for guiding us," she murmured.
The flying orb hovered gently in the air, emanating a calming aura. "You may now leave the Sacred Place. Do you want me to bring you somewhere? You will arrive at your chosen destination." The flying orb offered Cassie. This guardian already knew that Cassie possessed a power so she didn't have to undergo trials.
"Thank you. I would appreciate that. My Auntie and I went to this world and we got separated. Can you bring us to where they are now?" Cassie requested politely. She wanted to reunite with Ella and others. Besides, she was worried if they were just fine.
Though Eleven was there to protect Ella, she still wasn't at ease.
"I will bring you there." The flying orb responded immediately.
Soon, the orb emitted a bright light, engulfing both Cassie and Flint. She felt like she was blinded for a few seconds. The moment she opened her eyes, she found herself inside a hidden barracks. Flint was still lying, his head on her lap.
It did not take long before she heard someone calling her name. "Cassie?!"
She turned around only to see Ella and Liam, standing next to each other. A hint of relief could be seen in Ella's eyes as she ran in her direction. As she reached her spot, Ella embraced Cassie.
"Where have you been? I thought something bad happened to you and Flint. I'm glad you found us!" Ella felt so happy to finally reunite with Cassie.
Meanwhile, Liam remained in his spot. For a fleeting moment, time seemed to stand still as he gazed at Cassie, struck by the resemblance to the woman he once loved. His breath caught in his throat, a surge of emotions threatening to overwhelm him.
"Zhen-Zhen…" Liam mumbled her name.
He scanned Cassie thoroughly– her blue eyes, the curve of her smile, and her facial features. His gaze lingered, torn between wanting to approach her and fearing the emotions that might resurface. Liam knew that Zhen-Zhen was Tristan's woman. It was so wrong to have this desire for her.
But then again, his mind became confused when Ella called this woman Cassie, instead of Zhen-Zhen. When Ella broke the hug, she immediately noticed Flint who was still unconscious.
"What happened to Flint?" Ella asked her worriedly, checking Flint's body. She heaved a sigh of relief when she felt his pulse.
"Don't worry, Aunt. Flint is just fine. He just got exhausted from our long journey. Let's move him to a proper bed." Cassie reassured her, smiling.
At that certain moment, Liam managed to step forward, approaching the three. "Let me carry him."
Cassie gazed up and her eyes widened in disbelief. "OMG! Uncle Liam?! You are now awake!"
Liam gave her a faint smile. There was a hint of longing as he stared at Cassie. "Yes. I'm awake. Forgive me but I can't recognize you. May I know who you are?"
Cassie's face brightened up, feeling joyful. "My Mom will be happy once she learns about this. I'm Cassie… Cassandra Davis! The daughter of Tristan and Zhen-Zhen." She introduced herself to Liam.
Liam was stunned for a moment. He finally realized why she held an uncanny resemblance to Zhen-Zhen. It turned out she was her daughter.
"You've grown into a remarkable young woman now. It's been so many years, and seeing Zhen-Zhen's daughter as a lady is quite unexpected. I never had the chance to witness you as a baby," Liam spoke, a hint of wistfulness coloring his words as he knelt down, gently lifting Flint from the ground. His protective instincts kicked in, knowing Flint needed a place to rest.
Cassie's eyes sparkled with a mix of excitement and fondness at the mention of her mother. "Don't worry, Uncle Liam. I actually have a picture of us visiting you when I was just a baby. My mother used to bring my twin brother and me to see you," she exclaimed, a sense of delight in uncovering this shared connection with him.
Who would have thought that Liam would be healed in this world? They should have brought him here sooner.
Liam's gaze softened, a glimmer of warmth lighting up his eyes at Cassie's revelation. "I hope to see your mother soon… including your father."
Ella interjected with a sense of urgency. "Let's resume this conversation later. Right now, our priority is getting Flint to the chamber where he can rest," she asserted, her focus set on their immediate task.
Cassie nodded in agreement, a mix of anticipation and gratitude evident in her expression. Liam stood, cradling Flint in his arms, ready to follow Ella's guidance.
"What is this place?" Cassie asked them as her eyes roamed around her surroundings.
"This is the hideout of the Eleven and the other guardian warriors. I know you are aware of the ongoing war among the guardian warriors," Ella replied, explaining the situation.
"Eh? Then where are the other guardian warriors? Why they are not here?" Cassie asked in puzzlement.
"They've gathered in the meeting hall. We were supposed to join them when we saw you at the entrance," Liam also spoke up.
"Their Head Healer, Justine's grandmother was captured by the enemies. Shino, their leader, is planning a strategy on how they can rescue her. Justine and Eric went out to find you." Ella added, informing Cassie.
"Eh? Who is Eric?" Cassie asked again.
"Eleven's real name is Eric," Ella recalled that Cassie only knew Eleven and Justine.
"I'll take care of Flint. You and Liam should join them in the meeting hall. They need both of you." Ella suggested.
Cassie was reluctant to leave Flint behind. But Ella had a point. They went there to help Justine and Eric resolve this conflict among guardian warriors. They must assist them. Besides, they were the ones who healed Liam.
"Okay, Aunt. Take good care of Flint on my behalf. Uncle Liam and I will go to the meeting hall." Cassie finally agreed.
"Just call me Liam. It feels weird when you are calling me Uncle." Liam interjected. He felt like Zhen-Zhen was the one calling him Uncle whenever Cassie was talking to him. It didn't feel right.
"O-Okay… Liam."
Liam's smile widened when he heard that. "That sounds better now."
Ella, on the other hand, darted her gaze back and forth between Liam and Cassie. She didn't want to admit it but she suddenly felt jealous. Liam's expression looked happier especially now that he met Cassie.
