The CEO's Wife Is A Demon God's Daughter

Chapter 955 955: The Last Trial

Flint was running out of time. The first trial was about to end yet his attention was focused on Ella. He was about to take another step to stop Ella from jumping off the cliff when Cassie's beautiful face suddenly flashed in the back of his mind.

He recalled that Cassie was fighting the evil witch right now. It was dangerous for her because the witch was powerful.

"That's right! I'm here because I need to acquire power. Ella is not here. This is just part of the trial." When realization came to him, Flint didn't waste his time. He turned around, ignoring Ella's illusion. This was not real.

Able to distinguish reality from illusion, Flint managed to move forward, heading to the entrance door of the second trial. The magical flying orb was already waiting for him at the entrance.

"I thought you were going to be trapped here forever," the flying orb talked to him upon reaching the door.

"Is she the most important woman in your life? How did you manage to walk away from her? Aren't you afraid she might die from jumping off the cliff?" the flying orb failed to control his curiosity.

"Y-Yes…" Flint responded. However, something stirred his heart when he answered that. It seemed that his alter ego wanted to oppose his answer. 'Is she really the one? Are you sure?'

In the end, Flint put his doubt to the back of his mind. This was not the right time to analyze that. He had something more important to do.

"Anyway, congratulations seeker for passing the first trial. Now, we are going to the second trial. You have to face your inner fears, for true strength lies in acknowledging and overcoming them."

After hearing those words from the magical flying orb, Flint was engulfed by a mist that morphed into haunting visions of his deepest fears. With steely determination, he confronted and conquered each fear, finding newfound strength within himself.

In the last vision of his greatest fear, he was brought back to the place where he last saw Cassie fighting the evil witch. Suddenly, a chilling cry echoed through the area, followed by the sound of a fierce battle. Flint subconsciously sprinted toward the source.

His eyes widened at the sight before him. Cassie hung limply in the air, ensnared by dark magic. Her body was battered and bruised, the remnants of a vigorous fight against the evil Witch who stood in front of Flint, her malevolent gaze fixed on Flint.

"You are too late," she mumbled, a sinister laughter echoed in the area.

"Cassie!" Flint shouted her name as he rushed to her side. His heart sank at her current state. The dark magic coiled around Cassie, draining her life force with every passing moment. Flint didn't know what to do. He couldn't remove the dark magic.

"Stop wasting your time, boy. Her fate is sealed. She's mine to claim." The witch spoke again, provoking Flint further.

Flint's jaw clenched in determination as he confronted the evil witch, his eyes burning with a fierce resolve.

"I won't let you have her!" He declared, grabbing Cassie's body as he embraced her tightly. "Let her go!"

Cassie's breaths grew shallow, her life force slipping away. Flint's heart clenched with desperation. "Cassie, wake up. Please stay with me!" He tried to wake her up.

Flint turned to the evil witch and begged. "Stop! If you have to take someone's soul, then choose mine. Let her go. I'm willing to die for her sake. Please."

Flint had no power to fight the witch. All he could do was beg her and negotiate with her. It turned out that his greatest fear right now was failing to save and protect Cassie.

"Are you sure you want to save her by exchanging your life?" The Witch asked him. "Have you forgotten? She protected you so that you could fulfill your goal. You wanted to acquire power that's why you came here."

"Why don't you get your power and come back? Fight me and kill me to avenge her death." the evil witch continued taunting him.

"Seeker, this is your last test. You have to make a choice. Do you want power that can defeat this evil witch or do you want to save her life? What would you choose?" The flying orb spoke in Flint's subconscious.

"Oh please. Tell me this is not real! Cassie is not dying! This is part of the test. Right?" Flint questioned the flying orb, asking for its affirmation.

"Do you want to hear the truth?" the Flying Orb illuminated as he flew toward them.

"Yes. I wanna hear the truth!" Flint responded while nodding his head frantically.

"This woman's life is indeed in danger. This is a real scenario… this is no longer an illusion. You have to make a choice." The flying orb urged him to choose.

"Tell me what you want… a strength and power that can defeat this evil witch… or do you want to give this up and save that woman in your arms? I must remind you… you won't be able to get another chance to set foot in the Sacred Place ever again. So choose wisely." the flying orb reminded him.

Flint cursed inwardly. Of course, he already knew what he wanted. "Save her! Please save her. I don't care about having supernatural powers anymore. It will lose its purpose if I can't even save Cassie."

"Why? Why are you changing your goal now? I thought you came here because of that woman in the first trial. You want to acquire the power to save and protect her. Why are you throwing your chance away just because of that woman in your arms? Who is she to you?"

Flint looked down, focusing his gaze on Cassie. He pressed his hand against her chest, his desperation driving him to try anything just to keep her alive.

"She is my responsibility. I put her life in danger because of my selfish goal. I was the reason she came here. I don't need powers anymore. I just want to save her. So please… magical orb… please grant my wish.

If you have to take my life in exchange, then I am willing to offer it to you."

Seeing the determination in his eyes, the magical flying orbs acknowledged his choice. It did not take long before a radiant aura enveloped him, intertwining with his being, and resonating with the energies of the Sacred Place.

"You have succeeded, seeker. The power you seek now harmonizes with your spirit. May it guide you in your journey of balance and enlightenment."

Before Flint could realize what happened, his consciousness slipped away. The last thing he remembered before he passed out was the feeling of powerful energy being infused inside his body.

Meanwhile, Cassie and Scarlet finally reached the Sacred Place. She panicked as soon as she saw Flint's unconscious body lying on the ground. He was placed at the center of the altar. Cassie rushed in his direction and kneeled next to him. She cradled his unconscious form.

"Flint! Flint! Wake up! Please! Don't die!" Cassie shook his body, trying to wake him up. She didn't know what happened to Flint.

'Damn. Am I too late?'
