Chapter 939 939: Christian and Elijah
Allen's House Warming Party continued. The people on the rooftop began drinking and eating Barbeques! Allen made sure to bring Karaoke for fun and entertainment.
While drinking and eating, they could also sing along. Christian remained quiet while drinking his beer. He just let his friends enjoy themselves.
His twin sister and Aunt were in a dangerous world so he felt like he didn't have the right to have fun tonight with his cousins and friends.
But Elijah noticed Christian's odd behavior. She could tell that he was bothered by something so she decided to accompany him the whole night and talk to him.
"Hey, Sing with us." Elijah wrapped her arm around his shoulders.
Christian almost choked on his beer when Elijah suddenly appeared beside him. He turned to look at her. Elijah put on her charming smile, pointing the tip of her forefinger at his right cheek.
Christian could only smile because of Elijah's contagious smile and cheerfulness. Christian might be aloof to others but he always had a good spot on Elijah.
"I can only sing in front of you… but not in a group," Christian admitted.
Elijah was taken aback when she heard that. Then her cheeks reddened at that thought. She was reminded of those times when she felt bored abroad. She would always bother Christian and have long-distance calls and chat with him.
Since Christian spoiled her a lot, she often asked him to sing for her whenever she had bad days. And Christian was very considerate of her. He would sing for her after two-three times of convincing him.
"That's our little secret!" Christian added, pressing his forefinger against his lips.
Elijah could only bob her head as she giggled. She promised that she would not tell anyone about those moments.
"Alright. I will not force you to sing… but I will require you to talk to me." Elijah sat down next to Christian, snatching the can of beer in his hand.
Their friends were busy singing while Elijah and Christian had their own world. Allen was trying his best to be a good shot to Myrene. Kenji and Ayumi, on the other hand, took turns in using the microphone as they sang. These two loved music so much.
Because everyone was preoccupied with their respective business and interests, no one disturbed Christian and Elijah from catching up together.
"By the way, Congratulations for being the New CEO of the Heavenly Star Enterprise. How do you feel about this?" Elijah asked Christian expectantly.
Christian shrugged his shoulders. He didn't feel good at all being the CEO. "I am slowly coping up with my new responsibility… But I just wish Allen will take over my position. The company also belongs to Uncle Andrew… he has the right to inherit it. But he chose to work at Sy Corp, instead of Heavenly Star."
Christian finally shared his thoughts with Elijah. She could only giggle when she heard that.
"No wonder, my Dad chose to be your Dad's assistant and he refused to manage the family business of the Wilkins. He might have felt the same way…"
Christian let out a soft chuckle. "Yes. I can relate to your Dad. I want to follow his footsteps."
Christian paused as he was reminded of his twin sister. "If only Cassie had become more mature, she should have been the one managing the company."
"But you can't… Cassie will choose to have a stress-free life!" Elijah patted Christian's back, feeling sorry for him. Cassie would never want to become the CEO either.
"Why don't you marry someone… someone who can be your substitute CEO." Elijah suddenly blurted out. This suggestion just came out of nowhere.
Christian was not able to answer right away. He only gazed at her intently.
'I think… the person in my mind will not like to manage the company either…' Christian thought to himself.
"Find an intelligent woman! A businesswoman who will help you manage the company!" Elijah repeated her suggestion.
At this moment, Christian finally reacted. He crumpled his face and said, "Are you planning to marry me off? Do you think marrying someone is like doing a business deal?"
"Hey, calm down. Why are you getting so worked up? I'm just teasing you." Elijah took back her words when she sensed that Christian took her suggestion negatively.
"Never mind. I will just manage the company. No need to find a wife." Christian ended this topic.
"Alright… my dear CEO friend. Suit yourself." Elijah raised her can of beer for a toast. But Christian took it away from her.
"Hey, give me my beer." Elijah tried to get her beer back but Christian stopped her.
"You have low alcohol tolerance. You are not allowed to get drunk." Christian sounded like a strict brother.
Elijah could only pout her lips. "Don't be too harsh on me, Tian. I just want to enjoy this beer with you."
"No. You already finished one beer. That's your limit. Just drink this." Christian gave her canned juice, pineapple flavor.
Elijah glared at him before accepting the juice. "You are more strict than my father."
Christian just pinched her cheeks and patted her head as if she was a small kid. "Good girl… that's my girl."
Elijah didn't know whether she should cry or laugh because of Christian's last words.
"You are treating me like a child again…" Elijah punched Christian's shoulder. Christian just laughed, enjoying this simple moment with her.
"Eli… I heard that…" Christian was dying to ask her about her relationship but he couldn't complete his sentence. He was afraid to confront her.
"You heard what?" Elijah urged him to complete his words.
"Oh, it's nothing…"
"C'mon, Tian! Tell me!" Elijah punched his shoulder once again.
Christian was on the verge of asking her what was on his mind when suddenly, Allen approached them.
"Elijah! Elijah! I have a surprise for you!"
Elijah and Christian turned to Allen, giving him a puzzled look.
With a wide smile on his face, Allen pointed his finger at the stairway on that rooftop and someone emerged from it. It was a guy!
"Your boyfriend is here! Surprise!"
Elijah: "..."
