Chapter 935 935: A Sacred Place
It was already nighttime when the rain stopped. Flint and Cassie felt hungry and they didn't have food to eat. Scarlet went back inside the cave to join them.
"Master, are you both okay?" She asked them.
"Yeah, just a little bit hungry. Can we look for food tonight?" Cassie walked towards the entrance of the cave. The surroundings were so dark outside.
"Master, there is a mountain near this cave. Your mother and grandfather used to hunt food there," Scarlet said as she remembered the place where Zu Wan trained Zhen-Zhen.
Flint frowned when he heard that. 'Mother and grandfather? Does it mean… Cassie's family is from here?'
This was another revelation for Flint. Who was Cassie? And what was she doing in their world? Flint thought that Cassie belonged to Justine's clan.
'No wonder they knew each other and they seem so close to each other,' Flint assumed.
"Guide us… let's go hunting too! I want to try it out!" Cassie said in her cheerful tone. She would like to see the place where her mother and grandfather used to play and train.
Scarlet was now in her fox form, letting Flint and Cassie ride her back. Flint and Cassie hopped in as Scarlet left the cave. Cassie used her fireball to serve as their lights during their journey to the mountain.
Scarlet noticed that the mountain and the forest already changed as compared to before. It seemed that it was the result of the battle between the two opposing factions of guardian warriors.
After a while, they reached the mountain. They wondered if they could find anything there like fruit trees or wild boars.
"What do you want to eat tonight, Flint?" Cassie asked him as her eyes scanned the surroundings. She was looking for a target.
"Anything that we can eat," Flint responded. He felt a little bit embarrassed. He should be the one asking her that.
"I think there is some movement there!" Scarlet informed Cassie and Flint.
"Alright! Let's go there!" Cassie pointed the direction Scarlet had mentioned. Scarlet obediently complied.
Cassie jumped off as soon as she saw a big wild boar hiding in the grass. The wild boar saw her. It was about to attack her, charging in her direction. But Cassie single-handedly defeated it in just one punch.
Kaboom!
The wild boar flew several meters away from them and it fell to the ground unconscious. Flint looked at Cassie with wide eyes. His jaw dropped in astonishment. He still couldn't believe that Cassie had this superpower and amazing physical strength.
"Now… we have food! Let's bring it back to the cave and roast it!" Cassie cheerfully said as she ran towards the wild boar.
Flint could only watch her in awe. He didn't know if he was afraid of her or not. But as much as possible, he didn't want to offend Cassie. She could beat him up into a pulp whenever she wanted to.
"Oh, we don't need to return! Let's just stay here for a while. I still want to roam around this area. Mom and grandpa used to play here!" Cassie suddenly changed her mind.
With that, the three of them looked for a spot where they could cook and eat the wild boar. Scarlet brought them to the big stones where Zu Wan and Zhen-Zhen usually stayed as they took a rest from their training.
"Here… this big stone was your mother and grandpa's hangout place," Scarlet informed her.
Cassie ran her hands through the surface of the big stones. She felt so happy to see this area. She could imagine her one-year-old mother playing with her grandpa.
But after a while, Cassie became saddened as she recalled that this place also brought bad memories to her mother. Zhen-Zhen lost her mother, Eva at a very young age. So she wondered if Zhen-Zhen would be glad to be back in this world or not. This world brought her misery in the past.
But here she was, trying to help the descendants of those people who brought sadness and misery to her mother's life.
'Mom… I'm sorry… I didn't listen to Grandpa and to my twin brother. If it's you? Will you also ignore their plea? Or will you help them just like me?' Cassie was wondering what would be Zhen-Zhen's choice.
Scarlet and Flint noticed the sullen expression on Cassie's face. Her mood suddenly went down. They wondered what made her sad right now.
"Master, are you okay?" Scarlet asked her.
Cassie turned to look at them. "Yes, I'm fine. I just suddenly missed Mom… and Dad…"
Scarlet fell silent. Zhen-Zhen and Tristan hadn't returned home yet. They were not around for several years so she understood if Cassie was already missing them, especially now that she was here alone… in this unfamiliar world.
"Don't worry, Master. I believe… your brother will try to contact your Mom and Dad to inform them what happened. Who knows, they will come here to find you!" Scarlet tried her best to console Cassie.
Flint became curious about Cassie's parents. 'What do they look like?'
"I hope they will not scold me big time for doing this reckless thing." Cassie finally smiled as she scratched her face.
"Your Mom and Dad will understand."
When Flint could no longer hold his curiosity, he raised questions, asking Cassie and Scarlet.
"Who are your parents? Where did you get your power? How to acquire power in this world?"
Cassie and Scarlet exchanged meaningful glances with one another. If they told him about Zhen-Zhen and Tristan then Flint would figure out that she came from the Davis Family.
Cassie was not yet ready to reveal her identity to Flint. Understanding her master, Scarlet was the one who spoke up, focusing on Flint's last question.
"There is a secret I want to share with you. It's about how to acquire power. My former master used to train in this place. In this world, there is a sacred place where you can gain powers. The ability of the guardian warriors came from this sacred place."
Flint and Cassie were both surprised when they heard that secret! Who would have thought that kind of place did exist?
"If that's true… then… there a possibility I can gain power as well?" Flint asked Scarlet expectantly.
"Yes!"
