The Butcher of Sargon (LoL x Arknight Fanfiction)

Chapter 44: Volume 1 Chapter 44: Man vs 50

The horned girl was naturally Carnelian. After being left behind by Garde, it took her two days to reach Blackrock Town, where she immediately witnessed Garde and Saria in a fierce battle.

Carnelian originally intended to go to Redhorn Town but got lost and ended up in Blackrock Town.

In the end, the outcome was favorable. She didn't care about Rhine Lab; she was just looking for Garde.

Although Garde was now wearing a helmet and a cape, making him look like one of those Adakrys warriors who had passed certain trials, no ordinary Adakrys could match Garde's size.

Even among the many ancestral Adakrys warriors, Garde was considered a giant.

So Carnelian recognized Garde at a glance, and the Vouivre female martial artist next to him, with her distinctive horns, was unmistakably the same Rhine Lab Vouivre woman she had seen before.

Though Garde and Saria had disguised themselves before coming here, to Carnelian, they looked exactly the same as before.

"What are they here for?"

Noticing some people whispering nearby, Carnelian subtly used her Originium arts to stir up dust around their feet.

Carnelian's ears twitched as she listened to their conversation.

"—they're from the Reefsteep black market. There are already a few black market bosses gathered?"

"Six, the nearby ones have all come over, but it's unclear if they're the real deal."

"Let's wait a bit more."

A smile curled at the corner of Carnelian's mouth, feeling she had overheard something significant.

Seeing the people in the corner about to leave, Carnelian quickly used her Originium arts to control the sand to follow them. Once they were far enough, she trailed behind.

She now hoped for the situation to escalate as much as possible, making her life-saving favor even more valuable.

Just out of her tribe, Carnelian believed that every event she encountered on her journey was part of her trial.

Facing a trial, how could she shy away?

However, Carnelian didn't notice that while she was tracking others, someone else was watching her.

"A little Caprini girl, didn't your elders tell you? Not everything can be meddled with."

The sudden voice startled Carnelian, but since she wasn't the only Caprini around, she calmly walked to a small black market stall and picked up a piece of jewelry.

"How much for this necklace?"

The Anaty vendor, who had been dozing off, perked up when he saw a customer.

"Good eye, customer! The piece in your hand may not be the most beautiful in Blackrock Town, but it's definitely the most valuable!"

"Oh, how so?"

Carnelian asked perfunctorily, as the owner of the previous voice seemed to be approaching her. Given their ability to speak to her from such a distance, their mastery of Originium arts must be high.

She hadn't yet found a chance to help Garde. Getting into a fight with another Originium arts user now would be a huge loss.

However, the vendor became more enthusiastic upon hearing Carnelian's question.

"If you ask, then I must explain it properly."

The vendor looked around, seeing no one nearby, he whispered mysteriously.

"Customer, you are from Sargon, so you must know the legend of the Empress of Scarlet Gold, right? A queen who set out from the wilderness, marketplaces blossomed under her reign like spring sprouts. The path of wealth stretched from the high mountains to dense forests, until she vanished beyond the western waves..."

"The Empress lived centuries ago. What does she have to do with this piece of jewelry?"

"Everything! Absolutely everything!"

The vendor replied earnestly.

"You know the Empress was an Adakrys, right? But did you know that four years ago, a butcher from the Hotlands also made a name for himself?"

"And who might that be?"

"He was an Adakrys too!"

The vendor clapped his hands and whispered, "Let me tell you, this piece of jewelry was given to me by him. He traded it for twenty Originium ingots, saying he would buy it back for ten times the price once he found his ancestor's treasure."

"Now, for just fifteen Originium ingots, I'll sell you this bracelet. Consider it a goodwill gesture."

"If I weren't moving in a few days, I wouldn't sell it to just anyone."

"What nonsense!"

Carnelian looked at him as if he was treating her like a fool.

"If he really intended to buy back the jewelry, why wait until now? Perhaps you've been swindled?"

"How could I be swindled? I saw him enter the Hotlands with my own eyes!"

Carnelian's comment made the vendor anxious. Even if he had been tricked, he couldn't admit it in front of her.

"What did this Adakrys look like? I've been traveling around lately, maybe I've seen him."

"Adakrys all look pretty much the same..."

The vendor pointed, only to be stunned.

Carnelian followed his gaze and saw Garde and Saria passing by with Elliot.

Then she saw the vendor sprinting towards Garde at full speed.

"Crocodile man, I finally found you! Give me back my money!"

Carnelian couldn't help but laugh, seeing another unlucky soul hurt by Garde, just like herself. But her laughter soon faded.

Quicksand gathered beneath her feet.

She was certain someone had noticed her.

"I was just curious and eavesdropped on a few words. Is such a big reaction necessary?"

Fortunately, Carnelian was prepared. Just as the quicksand was about to envelop her, she activated her Originium arts to reverse the flow.

With a "bang," the collision of two identical Originium arts loosened the quicksand gripping her ankles.

Taking advantage of this moment, Carnelian ran towards Garde, following the vendor.

"Hey, big guy, I found you too! You won't escape this time!"

Behind Carnelian, a figure in a white robe, headscarf, and mask walked slowly. With each step, fine sand fell from his body.

"There's no time. Let's deal with these first."

As the words fell, a yellow dust cloud spread across Blackrock Town, covering the entire street in an instant.

As the sandstorm arose, Saria, beside Garde, looked up.

"Hmm?"
