Chapter 2: A Special Announcement
"Be my mate, Silas," Lucca offered.
Silas thought he must have heard wrong. Lucca was asking him to be his mate! Not even in any of his dreams it would happen.
"I will protect you from everyone who dare hurting you and you'll have your rest of the college days in peace," Lucca asserted.
"Why should I do that? I hate alphas," Silas pronounced, not fearing the dominant alpha before him.
Lucca chuckled at his response. "It doesn't matter if you hate alphas or not. Just accept my offer and live in peace," he asserted.
"No fucking way, I want to become your mate," Silas said in disdain. "Find someone else, who can be better in that job," he muttered.
"But there's no one better than you, Silas. Besides if you refuse me, I'll make sure you get kicked out of here. Because you'll be kicked out of the top werewolf university, I am afraid hardly anyone would like you to take you into theirs. And," Lucca paused as he grasped the back of Silas's neck and pulled him closer such that their lips were mere an inch apart.
"You need the money for your mother's treatment. The part-time job won't give her the best treatment. I, on the other hand, can pay you much better," he completed his words while boring his gaze into Silas's.
He knew Lucca was capable to turn his life upside-down. And his threats were not just to scare him. They could truly cost Silas a lot.
"Why me?" Silas finally asked, yanking his hands off him.
"Because you are miserable," Lucca replied in a mocking tone. "Just pretend to be my mate and you'll get everything you desire," he added.
Silas clenched his fists to hear that response. But it was the bitter truth of his life. If he wasn't miserable he hadn't been listening to Lucca and already would have walked away. If only he had been a rich omega, like the many others, things would have been different for him.
"Fine. I'll be your pretentious mate. But don't come near me when we're alone. I don't need your money—just make sure my university life goes smoothly, and I graduate in peace," Silas stated firmly.
Lucca's grin widened. "But I want you close to me at all times."
Silas frowned. "All the time? Don't joke, Lucca."
"I'm not joking." Lucca's voice was steady, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "You'll be with me 24/7. If I don't find you around me, you'll be punished."
Silas blinked in disbelief. "Wait! I can't be with you all the time. I have a job, and I need to visit my mom in the hospital. I told you I'd pretend to be your mate, but that doesn't mean you own me," he said, his frustration evident.
Lucca leaned in slightly, his tone unwavering. "Well, I have bought you, Silas." His words held an air of authority. "I told you—I'll pay you for being with me. No part-time jobs. No disappearing. I'll allow you time to visit your mother, but the rest of the time, you're mine. Do you understand?"
Silas clenched his fists. "No, I don't," he countered. "I already told you—I don't need your money. And I love my part-time job. It pays me well."
Lucca smirked, pulling out his phone. "Then I guess you'll lose that job today."
Alarmed, Silas immediately grabbed Lucca's wrist. The moment their skin touched, a sharp jolt of electricity surged through his body, making him stiffen. He quickly let go, swallowing hard.
Lucca raised an eyebrow, momentarily taken aback. No one had ever dared to touch him like that before.
"Sorry," Silas muttered, then took a deep breath. "Don't do that. My job starts after college hours and lasts until 10 p.m. That shouldn't be a problem for you. And during college, I'll stay around you, just like you want," he said, attempting to negotiate.
Lucca hummed in consideration. "Since you're so desperate to keep your job, I'll allow it." He leaned back, a knowing smirk playing on his lips. "However, my conditions will increase."
Silas narrowed his eyes. "What?" He barely restrained himself from cursing out loud. 'This fucking crazy Alpha. I wish I could punch him.'
"Whenever I call for you, you'll come to me immediately. No excuses," Lucca declared.
"Fine," Silas relented, not giving it much thought. The sound of the bell signaling the next lecture rang through the air. He exhaled in relief. "I have class. I'm going."
Lucca, now lounging on the couch, didn't even look up. "Come back here after your lectures."
Silas gave a small nod and left the private space designated for Alphas. As he stepped into the hallway, he spotted a group of dominant Alphas heading in his direction.
Instinctively, he lowered his head and quickened his pace, hoping to avoid unwanted attention.
To his surprise, none of them paid him any mind. A small sense of relief washed over him, and he rushed off to his next class.
Meanwhile, back in the lounge, Felix suddenly jumped over the couch, landing next to Lucca with an eager grin. "Lucca, what was an Omega doing here?" He teased, eyes gleaming with curiosity. "Don't tell me you're planning to take that Omega to your bed."
Jasper, who had been watching the interaction, leaned against the table. "Wait—wasn't that the rebellious Omega, Silas Westwood?" He tilted his head. "I heard you even saved him from Victor earlier. You, saving an Omega? Now that is new."
Lucca merely smirked, saying nothing.
Felix and Jasper exchanged glances. Whatever Lucca was up to, they knew one thing for certain—this was going to be an interesting game.
"Lucca, you know that we are dominant alphas. We don't bat an eye to worthless omegas like Silas," said his third friend, Eugene. "Spill what's in your mind," he asserted.
"Did you invite everyone for the evening's party?" Lucca ignored all of their questions, intentionally not wanting to give them the answers.
"Yes. I wonder why did you suddenly throw a party?" Felix murmured.
"Because I've a special announcement to make tonight," said Lucca with a smirk.
