The Airship

Episode 1, Chapter 5: Some Time to Focus

Somewhere far from civilization...

The wind was blowing wildly through an open plain, the grass billowing across the land like silk, but not for long. There was a large building sitting smack in the middle of the greenery, and not too far behind it was a large armada of docked airships; ships that towered over the building easily. Inside, there were men marching from place to place, or eating in a cafeteria, or just writing paperwork, but all of these men had one thing in common: They all wore Grey suits with a cyan "TW" on the chest, the logo for Techway. At the very top of the building, there sits a man, alone in a room. He was a very plump man with balding Grey hair and glasses, it looked as if he wouldn't even be able to leave his chair due to how squished in he was. He takes a puff on a large cigar, blowing a ring of smoke, before one of the Techway employees opens the door.

"Headmaster Bellows, sir." He says.

The Headmaster grunts and looks up at the employee.

"What is it? Is there another mass leak amongst the aircraft?" Bellows asks wearily.

The employee shakes his head.

"No, sir. One of our aircraft was actually destroyed, sir." The man says nervously.

The Headmaster chokes on his cigar before jamming it into an ashtray on his desk.

"What-!? That's impossible!! We haven't even done anything yet!! Were the crew able to identify the attackers!?" Bellows yells.

"No, sir. It was too quick, they weren't able to report anything, but we were receiving a similar electromagnetic signal close to the site that our ship was destroyed in." The employee states.

Bellows seems to think for a small minute, questioning how dire the situation might be.

"....Do you still have the signal?" Bellows asks.

"Yes, sir." The Employee replies.

"Keep it saved, have an attack force go for them as soon as possible." The Headmaster commands.

The Employee nods and leaves the room, closing the door behind him.

".....Something that was able to singlehandedly destroy one of our best models.... What could possibly be that devastating..?" Bellows ponders before shaking his head.

"No matter, once we have our hands on the undersea treasure, we won't have to worry about being too weak. Those sea-people are guarding it well, but the next time, we will win, no matter how formidable they are..!" Headmaster Bellows chortles loudly.

A beach somewhere...

The Airship was parked at the top of a beach, there were 3 sets of footprints leading down towards the shore in the sand. Noland, Corry, and Chris were sitting together.

"Ahh... I've always loved the beach, it's a nice place to go with family, or even just to focus." Noland says, sounding nostalgic.

Chris sits there, letting a boatload of different thoughts circulate through his head.

"So.... Techway must have attacked us because of the ship... There has to be some kind of weird signal that it gives off, and I'm sure they've recognized it or something." Chris states.

Corry tilts his head at Chris.

"But our ship wasn't in their custody, I found it broken down in The Great Crater..." Corry starts.

Chris facepalms, glaring at Corry.

"Yeah! If you'll remember, those ships were from The Chaos War, and we're pretty sure that Techway was behind it-!!" Chris shouts.

"Oh, yeah, my bad." Corry says, chuckling.

"Yeesh.... Somebody forgot to screw your head on the right way...." Chris grumbles quietly.

Noland sips a drink, kicking back in his beach chair.

"So how are we even gonna "exact our revenge?" Do you know where these guys are stationed, Chris?" Noland asks.

"As a matter of fact, yes, I do. I've been spying on these guys for a pretty good while, I got the gist of what they're up to." Chris says proudly.

"OK, but who's to say they won't be expecting us? We've already taken down one of their ships, they'll know that we're probably going to stage an attack, and lord knows we can't take on every single member of Techway at once!" Noland exclaims.

"I can." Chris and Corry say at the same time.

"THE TWO OF YOU ARE CRAZY-" Noland cries in an outrage.

"I've been training my combat skills for 5 years, and I've studied Techway, I can hold my own against them I'm sure." Chris says, puffing out his chest.

"I'm good with a sword, so I think I can take them on." Corry says innocently.

"Why do you guys have no sense of urgency...." Noland sighs.

Chris and Corry look over at Noland and their eyes widen.

"There, that looks better-" Noland says, exasperated.

Noland takes a long swig from his drink as Chris and Corry keep staring at him, they start to point.

"....What?" Noland asks.

"Behind you..." Chris mumbles.

"Please turn around-" Corry says.

"Ehh? What're you two going on ab-" Noland starts before getting cut off.

He hears multiple guns cocking behind him. He freezes and slowly turns around in his beach chair, seeing at least 10 Techway soldiers holding rifles point blank against his head.

".....Oh no-" Noland mutters.

"Are you the ones who took down our scout ship?" One of the soldiers asks.

".....I refuse to confirm nor deny-" Noland says, quickly pressing a button on his watch.

The Airship's turrets aim at the soldiers.

"TAKE COVER-" Noland cries out to Chris and Corry.

They bolt to the ocean, causing the soldiers to start firing at them haphazardly, missing all of their shots before The Airship fires at them, a large explosion occurring from the blasts hitting the beach's surface, causing the soldiers to be spread in all directions.

"That was some quick thinking Noland-" Chris admits.

Corry spits out a large amount of salt water.

"How did they find us-!? We got away after destroying their ship-!!" Corry shrieks.

"Well, if Techway really was the company or army or whatever that started the Chaos War, then this is one of their old ships. They probably recognized the signal and followed it, just like Chris said-" Noland explains.

"Oh shoot- Fight now, talk later-!!" Chris calls out, pointing overhead.

There was a Techway ship parked a few hundred feet behind The Airship, many Techway soldiers running out like ants.

"That must be where those other guys came from!" Corry shouts, readying his blade.

"No shit, Sherlock!!" Chris says sarcastically, cracking his neck.

The three dash forward at the group of soldiers, Noland straying a bit behind.

"Corry, I want you to throw me!!" Chris calls out.

"Ehh? Throw you-?? Why-??" Corry questions.

"Just do it!!!!!!" Chris shouts angrily.

Corry yelps and picks up Chris, tossing him into the crowd of soldiers. Chris hits an enemy, wrapping his legs around their head and flipping forward to slam the man into his comrades, knocking them all down. He regains his footing and hops off of the ground, barely avoiding an onslaught of blaster rounds flying directly at him. He hops across the crowd, bouncing off of soldiers before landing in the epicenter, going ham in the middle of the chaos. Corry also rushes headlong into the crowd, mowing down enemies quickly. He jumps up into the air and lands lightly on top of a soldier's head, just standing there, allowing other soldiers nearby to aim their firearms at him.

"H-Hey, wait just a minute-!!" The poor soldier cries out.

They all fire, but Corry jumps back into the air right as they fire their attacks, wiping out the man Corry was standing on instead. Corry eventually makes his way to the epicenter with Chris.

"How are you doing, Chris!?" Corryasks jokingly.

"Better than you I bet!" Chris says smugly, decking a soldier right in the face.

"Oh it's on!" Corry responds, smirking and using his Corkscrew Blade attack to slice through enemies like a sharp drill. Noland remains at a distance, trying to fire with his Proto-Pistols, but the blasts weren't reaching, they needed more range.

"Shoot, how am I supposed to do anything like this-!?" Noland shouts, beginning to doubt himself.

He looks ahead before slapping himself in the face.

"No, I have to be brave, I'll just run in and back out, it's as easy as that..." Noland assures himself.

He readies his legs before peeling out from his hiding place, dashing towards the crowd. He runs towards a man and punches him in the face repeatedly.

"PLEASE SLEEP- PLEASE SLEEP- PLEASE SLEEP-" Noland cries out repeatedly, gaining the attention of more soldiers, who aim at him.

"YEEK-" He yelps, grabbing the rifle from the soldier he finally knocked out and zooming back to his hidey-hole, screaming as he desperately tried to avoid the laser shots being fired at him.

"Ok- New weapon!! Shouldn't be too hard to use-!!" Noland says.

Oh how wrong he was. There were different buttons on the rifle, which all probably did different things, there was no conventional trigger.

"WHO MAKES A GUN LIKE THIS-!?" Noland shrieks out loud.

He locates a red button almost right next to the barrel of the rifle.

"There, this should do something-!!" Noland exclaims.

He aims at the crowd from the hole he had dug and presses the red button. Nothing happens at first.

"Ehh-!? Oh come on, don't tell me it's busted-!!" Noland says dejectedly.

The highlights on the weapon start to glow a bright blue, Noland starts to sweat.

"W-What is this-??" He says nervously.

The gun suddenly fires a massive blue beam out towards the crowd, the recoil launching Noland deep into the sand. The beam detonates violently upon hitting the crowd, wiping out at least half of them that remained. The rifle was busted, apparently the attack was some sort of self destruction move as the whole barrel of the gun was burnt off.

"Ah-" Noland says lightly.

Chris and Corry notice the decimation of half of their enemies, confused by where the explosion came from, but also realizing that the enemies would be easier to take down now.

"Combined Attack?" Corry suggests.

"A combined attack? That sounds nerdy as all hell... I'm in." Chris agrees.

He jumps onto Corry's head as Corry begins doing his Corkscrew Blade attack again, spinning like a helicopter propeller before Chris starts throwing Electro-Spark Grenades in every direction, the momentum of Corry spinning launching then further.

"They're fighting us back!! Some dumbass idiot already used their Finisher Cannon and took down most of our forces!! Men, it's time we use our Finisher Cannons and retreat!!" The head of the squadron calls out.

The soldiers that remained all take aim and fire the same sort of blue beam that Noland fired, all of their guns are broken in the process.

"Oh shoot-!!" Corry calls out.

Chris, realizing the situation, jumps off of Corry's head and lands next to him, kicking Corry towards the ship.

"AH- CHRIS-!!!" Corry shrieks as he flies through the air, skidding across the ground.

The blasts hit the ground next to Chris, several large explosions surrounding him. He flies out of the fire and flames, unconscious, before landing far off into the ocean, sinking down.

"What was that-!?" Noland shouts, surprised by the blast and wondering what just shot into the ocean.

"Crap, he'll drown-!!" Corry yells, running towards the beach and peering out.

"What are we supposed to do...!?" Corry wonders frantically, trying to think up a solution to the problem.

The soldiers, after firing, had ran back to their airship and taken off. The captain of the team takes out a radio transceiver and speaks through it.

"Headmaster, we believe one of us is amongst the group. We saw him before he flew into the ocean!" He says.

"Ehh? Why would one of... Oh... Oh yes, I understand now. Make sure he's OK, send a team to recover him before his "friends" can find him again..." The Headmaster states through the transceiver, sounding smug.

"We believe that the current may take him towards Atlantis's location." The captain says.

"Even better!! We get Chris and then we use our upgraded technology to take the Life Generator from the Sea-People!! It's ingenious, Wahahahaha!!!" Headmaster Bellows says boisterously before hanging up.

"....Yes sir." The Captain says to the dormant transceiver.
