Episode 1, Chapter 4: Rising Tension
The ship is flying through the air yet again after the crew investigated the abandoned warehouse for supplies. Noland is in the lab, standing next to a pile of broken down robots. He's slowly but surely throwing bits and pieces of them into a large furnace module.
"Interesting... This metal has a really high melting point, I've never seen a material like this before... I might have to put it to a little test once all of it is melted down and turned into ingots.." Noland says to himself.
Chris is sitting in the cargo bay yet again, pondering the encounter that they had with the machines in the warehouse.
"That last machine said something about Techway, which means that my theories and spying actually worked...!! There's solid evidence on this now, so those other two can't deny my ass about it-!!" Chris says triumphantly to himself.
Chris smirks to himself, chuckling. He gets up and stretches.
"Well then... I'm gonna go workout for a while, I need my body to be strong, never know when something could happen out of the blue." He says before leaving the room.
Corry is sitting on his chair in the control bay, thinking to himself.
"I don't want to think that Chris might have been right about Techway... It just seems off, and what happened with that last robot?? It sent an SOS signal, could Techway have seen it..? No, I'm worrying too much, I need to take a breather..." Corry says, unsure of how to feel.
He pulls out his sword and stares at it intently.
"I should be strong enough to fight if things go bad, I need to have faith in my own strength if we do end up fighting." Corry says courageously.
He looks out towards the blue sky ahead of him, thinking about what the future ahead might hold for all of them.
Noland is still in the lab, he had finally managed to put the melted metal into ingots.
"Sheesh... It took a while, but I finally finished. I don't know what this stuff is, the scanners aren't picking it up as a natural material..." Noland says curiously.
He takes one of the ingots, almost being pulled down by it's weight and sets it on a large table.
"Well then... Uhhh.... Time for a durability test I guess-" Noland says cautiously.
He puts on a welding mask and pulls a chainsaw out from under the desk.
"This ought to do the job well." He says haphazardly.
He revs the chainsaw and jams it into the ingot of metal, the blade snaps and flies in multiple directions, one of the chains getting stuck in the visor on the mask, causing Noland to shriek in fear.
"B-Broke the saw instantly..." He states, flabbergasted.
Curious, Noland takes off the broken mask and walks over to a storage area, picking up a metal rod and walking back over to the ingot.
"This is a cast iron rod... Let's see what happens!" Noland blurts out.
He lifts the pole over his head and swings it down on the ingot. When it makes impact, it sends a shock all throughout Noland's body, causing him to jitter back and forth.
"Only a little dent... This... This must be some kind of super metal, that's crazy-!!" Noland shouts, amazed.
He lifts the ingot and sets it back on the pile, causing the desk to creak under the weight.
"Alright, I better go tell Corry my disco-" He begins before the desk breaks into multiple pieces from the stress, the ingots clattering every which way.
".....I'll fix that later-" Noland says before slowly meandering out of the lab.
Corry is spinning in his chair, laughing like a small child before Noland comes out of the elevator, causing Corry to quickly get back into composure.
"Hello, welcome to the Control Bay, this is your captain speaking, how can I help you-?" Corry says nervously.
"Uhhhhhh.... I wanted to tell you that I got all of that metal figured out-" Noland says, visibly confused by Corry's antics.
Corry's eyes light up as he stands up, smiling widely.
"Oh, that's great!! What kind of metal is it!?" Corry says, shaking like an excited chihuahua.
"....That's uhhh.... That's the thing.... I don't really know what kind of metal it is-" Noland says as he looks to the side.
Corry stops jittering and tilts his head.
"What? You don't know what kind of metal it is? But you're one of the smartest among us!! How can you not know?" Corry asks.
Noland puts on a bit of a peeved expression.
"Don't ask me, I'm pretty sure it's some kind of super metal, that we just happened to discover, but that doesn't mean we were the first to discover it, as those robots were made from it..." He says seriously.
Corry brushes aside all sense of seriousness and pipes up with his cheery attitude yet again.
"Then cool!! We discovered a cool new metal!! What are we gonna name it?" Corry says, oblivious.
"....Were you even listening to a single thing I said?" Noland grumbles.
"Of course I was listening!! You said we discovered a whole new metal!!" Corry chirps.
"I- Yes- But- You- Ohhhh.... I give up-" Noland says dejectedly.
Chris is in the training room, going ham on a training dummy. His shirt was off, revealing his decently toned muscles, he looked shrimpy while wearing his jacket, but he actually had some fine physique.
"Hoo... Just gotta keep the blood flowing..." Chris says in a breathy tone.
He punches the dummy once, twice, thrice, pummeling the dummy with a barrage of lightning fast punches before finishing the job with one last haymaker, grunting loudly. The dummy falls to the ground hard. Chris exhales and wipes the sweat from his face.
"Can't work myself too much, that'll just render my body useless..." He says.
Chris walks over to the corner of the room, picking up his t-shirt and sliding it back over his head.
" I wonder what the guys are up to, I haven't heard from them in a while..." Chris ponders to himself.
He looks up and walks out of the training chamber.
Meanwhile... Another ship is floating along, within view of The Airship. An officer in the control deck walks up to the mustachioed head of the ship.
"Sir. We've spotted an airship that's from the same company from where we get our supplies, but it seems to be an outdated model. How would you like us to proceed?" The officer asks.
The leader brushes his stubble with his finger.
"Is it registered to Techway?" The leader questions.
"No, I don't believe it is registered to us." The Officer replies.
"Then shoot it down. The people in that ship may very well be the ones that caused that distress signal that we received earlier today." The Leader states.
"Yes sir." The Officer states, signaling to other officers.
Back in The Airship's control room, Corry and Noland are still discussing the Super Metal before Chris walks in.
"Oh- Chris- I got that metal sorted out-" Noland starts.
"Yeah, I heard your chainsaw from all the way down the hall, you'd wake up the whole ship like that." Chris retorts.
Noland looks down before Corry pipes up yet again.
"Let's put all the seriousness behind!! Where do you guys want to go next??" He says happily.
Noland starts to think a bit, but Chris just stares in disbelief.
"I'm pretty sure you know my answer..." Chris grumbles.
"Yeah I probably do, but we won't do anything about that unless we're actually attacked by Techway. They haven't done anything to us recently, so we should leave them be." Corry states.
As soon as Corry finishes his sentence, the ship rumbles, causing Chris and Noland to stumble around a bit while Corry's chair tips over, causing him to roll into the control panel.
"Ack-!! What's happening-!? I'm pretty sure the ship isn't supposed to do this-!!" Noland cries out.
Chris runs to the window as Noland and Corey regain their bearings.
"....They're attacking us Corry-" Chris says smugly.
Corry gets up and looks out the window. Indeed, there was a ship about 2 times the size of The Airship floating outside, showcasing the Techway logo. It fires a large cyan laser shot at the ship, hitting The Airship's shield, but still causes it to rumble again.
"That's their ship!?!? I thought our ship was big, but this is ridiculous-!!" Corry shouts out.
"Noland, get the guns ready!! You're our sharpshooter!!" Chris shouts.
Noland hesitantly nods and runs into the elevator. When he reaches his floor, he runs down the hall before spotting a ladder leading upward. He climbs up the ladder into the hole before it leads him to the right. When he comes out, he was in one of The Airship's turrets.
"Alright... Just gotta aim..." Noland mumbles.
The Officers in thr enemy ship's control room were confused, watching as their blasts hit The Airship's shields.
"Captain, this isn't making any sense!! This is an older model, yet it's shield generators seem to be far more advanced than ours-!!" One of the officers calls out.
The Captain stares at The Airship, noticing it's turrets turning towards their ship.
".....We're doomed." He says suddenly.
Noland fires the turrets. A large barrage of laser blasts shoots out towards the enemy ship, breaking through the shields before they even had a chance to reform. The enemy ship bursts into flames before exploding violently, sending chunks of broken metal flying in all directions.
"That... was actually really easy-" Noland says, scratching his head.
Corry and Chris watch from the Control Bay as the ship blows up.
"They went down really quick-" Corry points out.
"Did... How... How many modifications did you add to this ship-!?" Chris asks, completely shocked.
"I mean, uhhh, I guess I made a few minor adjustments? Ehehe..." Corry chuckles nervously.
"Well whatever you did, it was amazing!! We didn't even take a scratch of damage!!" Chris shouts, surprisingly happy.
Corry, taken aback by Chris's sudden change in composure, smiles awkwardly.
"Y-Yeah, I guess it is pretty cool, huh...?" He says sheepishly.
Noland walks back into the Control Bay, heading back towards the other two.
"So, does this mean what I think it means?" Noland asks.
"Does what mean what?" Corry asks curiously.
"Techway attacked us." Noland states.
Chris looks at Corry and nods his head. Corry hesitates before sighing.
"Yeah... They waged war with us... That means we have to fight back. I hope you're happy Chris..." Corry says hopelessly.
"I've never felt more happy about going to get Techway..." Chris starts.
He looks out the window, Corry and Noland walking up behind him.
"...I knew it had to get done at some point." Chris says.
