Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Su Fei calmly looked at the surrounding villagers and the three people and said, “Since you all know there’s no problem, let’s settle our accounts.”
Village Chief Ning couldn’t allow any mistakes, especially since these were people working as police officers in the county. Moreover, they were all related, and things shouldn’t have gotten so tense. It was better to quickly resolve everything.
“Ningning, quickly talk to Su Fei and stop her from getting so worked up. We’re all relatives here.” Village Chief Ning quickly realized she couldn’t persuade Su Fei and asked Ningning to intervene.
But the villagers in the village, now seeing Su Fei getting angry, were a bit at a loss. They didn’t know why Su Fei was getting so angry, but her cold expression scared them.
Ningning looked at Village Chief Ning but still didn’t follow her instructions because she was inclined towards Su Fei. “Village Chief, can’t you see? Su Fei is in charge of our family’s major matters. I can’t intervene, as I’ll be living with Su Fei in the future, and I can’t afford to ruin our relationship over this.”
After saying this, Ningning turned away, not looking at Village Chief Ning’s face anymore. Village Chief Ning sighed helplessly; Su Fei was indeed difficult to deal with. Seeing Su Fei determined to resolve the matter, she felt it had to be addressed.
“I don’t know how you plan to resolve this matter. Su Fei, don’t go overboard. Do you want to detain them here?” Village Chief Ning advised.
“I don’t know how you plan to resolve it. If it’s about apologizing, we can apologize to Liang Hao right now.” Manager Wang, seeing Su Fei’s unyielding attitude, started to feel anxious. She knew things had escalated, but she couldn’t afford to be detained here.
The two police officers were now very annoyed. They already knew they were in the wrong and felt embarrassed staying here. They wanted to leave quickly but didn’t expect to be stopped.
“Why are we in the wrong? We apologized, isn’t that enough? Why do you want to keep dragging this on? Are you trying to extort money? Who gave you the audacity to dare to detain police officers?” The young police officer, feeling aggrieved, directly confronted Su Fei, ignoring the older police officer’s attempt to stop her.
The young police officer had recently joined the force, so she was more arrogant.
“Extort money? What a joke. Today, I won’t let it go. I must get a full explanation from you before you can leave.” Su Fei laughed coldly, looking at the three of them expressionlessly.
Su Fei smiled sarcastically and said, “Stop talking. The more you talk, the harder it’ll be for you to leave. And after you leave, I will sue you. I don’t want to hear any private settlement proposals today. This must be handled officially.”
For a moment, everyone remained silent, realizing Su Fei could be so determined.
“First, you came to arrest people without showing any credentials. This shows you must often abuse your power, and for that alone, I can sue you. Didn’t they teach you that you should carry your credentials with you? You seem like temporary workers!” Su Fei said sarcastically to the two police officers.
“Secondly, you didn’t obtain a warrant before arresting people. Do you know that entering my house without permission constitutes trespassing? Do you have any legal awareness?”
“Third… Fourth…”
Su Fei listed their offenses one by one in great detail, and after each one, she ridiculed them. Every time she mentioned an offense, the two police officers’ faces turned paler. They didn’t expect Su Fei to list so many charges. If these were brought against them, their careers would be over.
After addressing the police officers, Su Fei turned her attention to Manager Wang and the educated youth.
“I don’t know what authority you have, Manager Wang, to instruct the police to handle the case? Are you colluding with each other? Is this how the current authorities act so arbitrarily?” Su Fei pointed directly at Manager Wang, exposing her deepest desires to everyone.
Manager Wang’s face turned pale when she heard this and stammered, “No, no… Don’t talk nonsense, I really didn’t…”
Su Fei saw that she was completely defenseless and turned her attention to the educated youth.
“Are you all from the city? You should know there’s a crime called defamation, right?” Su Fei looked at the educated youth, her eyes cold.
Su Fei was furious, thinking that they didn’t know if they were caught and if so, both her and Liang Hao’s lives would be ruined. After all, the penalties under the current laws were severe, and they could end up spending years in prison.
“We know… What’s wrong?” The educated youth didn’t expect Su Fei to turn her attention to them and stuttered a bit in their response, unlike their confident demeanor earlier.
Su Fei didn’t mince words and retorted, “If you know, why still commit the offense, especially in front of the police? Although those police officers may not understand.”
“Now that you know, there’s nothing more to say. So, for your crimes, I don’t plan to be lenient. And all the villagers in the county can testify that you deliberately misled them to come and arrest me and Liang Hao.” Su Fei looked at the educated youth, knowing exactly what they were thinking – that once she was gone, the blame would fall on them.
“Yes, yes, they deliberately misled us. We came to arrest people because of them. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have done this.” The older police officer quickly interjected, now completely confused. She was afraid Su Fei would uncover more truths.
Because she believed everything Su Fei said, and any one of those charges could send them to jail. Furthermore, Su Fei knew so many regulations that she could easily make a case against them.
The educated youth, realizing they were exposed, didn’t want to go to prison. They quickly said to Su Fei, “We did make mistakes, but nothing happened. And you and Liang Hao are fine, right? We won’t do it again. Let’s just let this matter go.”
“No, attempted murder is not the same as murder. Just because you didn’t succeed doesn’t mean you’re not guilty. Ask the police, your motives were impure, but the reason you didn’t succeed was due to our good luck. So, legally, your actions can still be convicted.” Su Fei looked at the educated youth, who were now making excuses for their actions.
Su Fei also knew that in this village, almost every household was related in some way. There would surely be people coming to mediate soon. And she couldn’t afford to offend the adults; after all, she still had to live in this village.
So, Su Fei needed to suppress their arrogance to prevent them from causing trouble again. But with these matters, it was different. These hidden snakes had to be dealt with.
These people hiding in the shadows, one never knew when they would set a trap. So, these people had to be subdued. Although Su Fei knew that these police officers and Manager Wang were here to catch thieves, their actual job was like this.
