Chapter 37: Rebellion Against Heaven - Part 24

Chapter 24: A Feast of Pain

Kenta and Haru's screams echoed through the night, mingling with the echo of blood dripping onto the soggy ground. Ryuusei, standing amid the dying bodies, swung his warhammer between his fingers with chilling calm.

The weapon was imposing, a mass of metal forged to destroy, not just kill.

In a fluid motion, he lifted the hammer and struck it on Kenta's leg.

CRACK!

The bone broke like a dry branch.

Kenta let out an inhuman shriek, but Ryuusei only bowed his head curiously.

"Does it hurt?" I thought you were more resilient.

Without giving him time to respond, he plunged his boot into the exposed wound, twisting the broken bone. Kenta jerked in spasms, but his body could barely react to the blood loss.

Haru, tongue severed and his stump where he once had one leg, tried to move. His fingers scratched the ground, trying to get away from the carnage.

Ryuusei clicked his tongue.

"Oh, no, no, Haru. Don't leave yet.

(Teleportation Daggers)

In an instant, daggers pierced through Haru's palms, pinning him to the ground. The dark energy vibrated, burning his skin as his body shook in pain.

Ryuusei crouched down next to him and whispered in his ear.

"You always liked to shoot arrows, didn't you?" Let's see how good you are without hands.

With a swift motion, he raised his hammer and crushed Haru's wrists.

CRUSH!

Flesh and bone were crushed under the weight of the weapon. Haru opened his mouth in a silent scream, his face contorted into a grimace of utter agony.

Ryuusei stood up and stretched out his arms, as if he was enjoying the moment. Then, his eyes locked onto Daichi.

The only one who could still fight.

The only one who could still suffer.

"Daichi... Lately I watched a fantasy series. You know, those stories of dragons and kings. There was something that caught my attention...

She took a step toward him, her boots splattering in the pools of blood.

"A young nobleman, captured and tortured in the North. They cut off parts of his body, broke him little by little, turned him into something unrecognizable. Do you know what I'm talking about?

His smile widened as he saw Daichi's eyes widen in dread.

"Yes, of course you do. I liked his story, it inspired me. Because today, Daichi...

Ryuusei raised the hammer, blood dripping from its edge.

"Today, you're my Theon Greyjoy.

Daichi's heartbeat echoed in his ears like war drums.

"Why...?" He managed to murmur with a broken voice.

Ryuusei tilted his head, as if the question confused him. Then, his expression changed to an icy fury.

"Why?" DO YOU SERIOUSLY ASK WHY?

With his hammer Ryuusei struck Daichi's stomach with all his might.

BOOM!

The impact threw him several meters, causing him to crash into a wall. He coughed up blood, his vision blurring.

Ryuusei moved slowly, his presence now suffocating.

"They abandoned me. I was left alone at the Death Games when everything was about to fall apart.

He squatted down, taking Daichi's bloody face with a cold hand.

"Did you think I had forgotten?"

Daichi's eyes widened in horror.

"Ryuusei... we had no choice...

"There's always a choice. And you chose to let me die.

He stood up and raised his daggers, dark energy sizzling around them.

"Now, it's my turn to return the favor."

The real hell was about to begin.
