Chapter 32: Rebellion Against Heaven - Part 19
Chapter 19: Massacre
The air became heavy. The tension was dense, almost tangible. Kenta and Haru knew there was no escape. Ryuusei was not the same as the one they knew. His posture, his presence... everything in it screamed mortal danger.
Without warning, Ryuusei disappeared in the blink of an eye. Their teleportation daggers flashed with an ethereal glow. Kenta barely had time to react when he felt a cut on his cheek. It wasn't deep, but it was enough to make him understand that they were in real danger.
"Damn!" Kenta growled, drawing his Twin Scythes of the Eclipse.
Haru moved backwards, drawing the Crimson Void's bow. His eyes searched for any movement, any hint of where Ryuusei would appear.
Then, the storm began.
Ryuusei emerged behind Kenta and launched a lunge with his daggers, seeking to pierce his side. Kenta spun on himself with lethal precision, intercepting the attack with one of his scythes. Sparks flew as the guns collided, but Ryuusei didn't stop. It vanished again, appearing in the air above Haru.
"Not so fast!" Haru shouted, releasing an arrow shrouded in vibrant crimson energy.
The arrow whistled in the air and Ryuusei barely had time to block it with his daggers. The impact sent him back, landing with a nimble somersault. He smiled under his mask.
"They're not as helpless as I thought," he murmured mockingly.
Kenta roared in fury and lunged at him. Their scythes cut through the air with impressive speed, creating gusts of wind in their wake. Ryuusei dodged with graceful movements, sliding her daggers against her enemy's blades, deflecting attacks with chilling accuracy.
But Kenta wasn't the only problem.
Haru had already loaded another arrow. This time, he would not fail.
"Void Impact!" He shouted, shooting an arrow with destructive force.
Ryuusei teleported at the last second, reappearing to the side just as the arrow hit the ground, creating a smoking crater.
Then, a roar shook the place.
Aiko appeared from the shadows, her Black Herald sword shrouded in a dark aura. His eyes shone with an animal intensity. He was in his Berserk form.
"Does it bother you if I join the party?" He asked with a wild smile.
Kenta and Haru barely had time to react before Aiko lunged at them with terrifying speed. His sword descended with monstrous power, and only Kenta's instinct managed to save him. He slid to the side, but the blade cut through his shoulder. Blood gushed out immediately.
"Kenta!" Haru shouted, turning to help him.
But it was his mistake.
Ryuusei appeared behind him, his daggers reaching for his neck. Haru could barely bend down in time, feeling the edge cut a few hairs. He rolled across the ground, aiming another arrow, but Aiko intercepted him with a downward slash that Haru barely managed to deflect with her bow.
The fight was a chaos of speed and death.
Kenta's scythes swung in circles, seeking to open a space between him and Aiko. Haru was shooting arrows relentlessly, trying to keep his distance. But Ryuusei and Aiko were relentless. They were like predators playing with their prey, as if every move was already planned in advance.
Then, an explosion of light.
Daichi appeared on the scene, his Spear of Judgment in hand. Its energy radiated a brilliant intensity, illuminating the dark street.
"Enough!" he bellowed, thrusting his spear into the ground.
A shockwave swept across the ground, forcing Ryuusei and Aiko to retreat for an instant.
Daichi looked at Ryuusei with fury in his eyes.
"If you think we'll let ourselves be killed without a fight, you're wrong.
Ryuusei smiled under his mask. He wiped the blood from his daggers and readied again.
"Perfect," he whispered. Then let's have the luxury of having a little more fun.
The battle was not over yet. And the real carnage was about to begin.
