Chapter 10: Mock Exam
"I'm so nervous," Pan Wei sighed, his chubby cheeks puffed out in worry. "I haven't studied much, and I'm afraid I'll fail miserably."
Lin Yun patted his friend's shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry, Fatty. Just do your best. Remember, it's just a mock exam. It's not the end of the world."
Pan Wei forced a smile. "I know, but I still can't help feeling anxious. What if I can't even get into West Lake University?"
He simply didn't want to be separated from his best friend. If possible, he wanted to go to West Lake City with Lin Yun.
Lin Yun's expression turned serious. "Fatty, listen to me. You're smarter than you give yourself credit for. You just need to focus and put in the effort. I'll help you, I promise."
"Mhm!" Pan Wei nodded heavily.
Ding!
The bell rang, signaling the start of the mock exam. The classroom fell silent as the students received their test papers.
Lin Yun scanned the questions, a confident smirk playing on his lips. The exam, designed to challenge the brightest students, seemed elementary to him now. The knowledge he'd acquired in the DDL space flowed effortlessly, guiding his hand as he filled in the answers.
He breezed through the multiple-choice questions, his pen flying across the page. The essay questions posed no challenge either, his thoughts and ideas crystallizing into eloquent prose.
He finished the exam in record time, his paper filled with neat, confident strokes. He leaned back in his chair, a sense of satisfaction washing over him. He knew he had aced it.
He glanced around the room, observing his classmates as they struggled with the exam. Pan Wei, his brow furrowed in concentration, chewed on his pen nervously.
Lin Yun couldn't help but chuckle. He knew his friend was in for a rude awakening when the results came out.
As the final bell rang, the students submitted their papers with a collective sigh of relief.
Pan Wei slumped in his chair, his face pale and his eyes wide with worry. "I'm doomed," he groaned. "I barely answered half the questions."
Lin Yun patted his friend's back. "Don't worry, Fatty. We'll start studying together tonight. I'll help you catch up."
Pan Wei nodded, a glimmer of hope returning to his eyes.
The two went to the canteen to grab a meal and returned to the classroom. Lin Yun began to help Pan Wei with his studies.
"Incredible," Pan Wei was surprised. "If all the teachers could explain everything in such easy terms like you do, how could I fail, Brother Yun?"
He discovered that Lin Yun's teaching method was much easier to understand. It was the first time he felt that studying wasn't difficult.
"Classmate Lin, can you help us as well?" A female classmate who sat nearby asked expectantly. She had secretly listened to Lin Yun's teachings and felt the same way as Pan Wei. Lin Yun was better than any of the teachers here.
"No problem," Lin Yun smiled. The class's performance could help Xu Qing's career. He didn't mind helping everyone get into a good university.
"Can I join in?"
"And me!"
More and more students came over. They had also listened to Lin Yun's teachings earlier.
Lin Yun looked at the clock on the wall and said, "We have 20 minutes left. How about this? I will hold a tutoring class for 3 hours after school. We will go through everything from the very basics of each subject to the advanced level. It should be enough before the actual national exam."
"That's great!"
"Count me in!"
Everyone in the class quickly expressed their willingness.
"Alright. Let's start with physics today," Lin Yun smiled.
Soon, the afternoon mock exam session began. Lin Yun could easily answer all the questions. He was now fully confident in getting a full score on the actual national exam. This year's champion must be him.
As the final bell chimed, signaling the end of the school day, a wave of excitement rippled through the classroom. The students, energized by Lin Yun's impromptu announcement, eagerly gathered their belongings, their minds abuzz with anticipation for the upcoming tutoring session.
Lin Yun, a confident smile playing on his lips, surveyed the eager faces before him. He felt a surge of satisfaction, knowing that he could make a real difference in their lives.
He cleared his throat, drawing the students' attention. "Alright, everyone, let's get started. Today, we'll be delving into the fascinating world of physics."
A collective murmur of agreement filled the room. Lin Yun began his lecture, his voice clear and resonant. He started with the fundamentals, explaining the basic principles of motion, force, and energy in simple, easy-to-understand terms.
He used relatable examples and analogies, drawing from everyday experiences to illustrate complex concepts.
The students, initially hesitant and unsure, gradually became engrossed in his lecture. Lin Yun's passion for the subject was contagious, his enthusiasm igniting a spark of curiosity in their minds.
He patiently answered their questions, encouraging them to think critically and explore the wonders of the physical world.
As the session progressed, Lin Yun's teaching style evolved. He moved beyond the textbook, sharing insights and anecdotes from his past life. He spoke of groundbreaking discoveries, technological advancements, and the boundless potential of science.
The students were captivated, their eyes wide with wonder. They had never encountered a teacher like Lin Yun, someone who could make even the most complex subjects come alive.
Unbeknownst to them, Xu Qing, their homeroom teacher, had returned to the classroom to retrieve some forgotten documents. She stood at the back of the room, observing Lin Yun's impromptu tutoring session with a mixture of surprise and admiration.
She had always known that Lin Yun was a brilliant student, but she had never seen him in this light before. He was a natural teacher, his passion for knowledge shining through in every word and gesture.
Xu Qing watched as Lin Yun patiently explained a difficult concept to a struggling student. His voice was gentle and encouraging, his eyes filled with warmth and understanding.
She couldn't help but smile. Lin Yun's kindness and willingness to help others were truly admirable.
As the tutoring session drew to a close, the students erupted in applause, their faces beaming with gratitude. Lin Yun, a humble smile on his face, bowed slightly.
"Thank you, everyone," he said. "I hope you found this session helpful. Remember, the key to success is hard work and dedication. Don't give up on your dreams, and never stop learning."
The students nodded enthusiastically, their spirits lifted by Lin Yun's words. They gathered their belongings and left the classroom, their minds buzzing with newfound knowledge and inspiration.
Xu Qing approached Lin Yun, her eyes sparkling with admiration. "Lin Yun," she said, her voice soft and sincere, "that was truly remarkable. You have a gift for teaching, and your passion for knowledge is inspiring."
Lin Yun blushed slightly, taken aback by her praise. "Thank you, Teacher Xu. I just wanted to help my classmates. I know how stressful the exam can be."
Xu Qing smiled warmly. "You've done more than just help them. You've given them hope and confidence. You've shown them that anything is possible if they're willing to put in the effort."
She paused, her eyes searching his. "You're a remarkable student, Lin Yun. I have no doubt that you'll achieve great things in the future."
Lin Yun's heart swelled with gratitude. Xu Qing's words meant the world to him. He had always admired her, and her approval filled him with a sense of validation.
"Thank you, Teacher Xu," he replied, his voice filled with emotion. "I'll do my best to live up to your expectations."
Xu Qing nodded, a proud smile on her face. "I know you will. Now, go home and get some rest. You deserve it."
Lin Yun packed up his belongings and left the classroom, his heart light and his mind filled with possibilities. He had made a difference today, and that was more rewarding than any exam score…
