Chapter 174 - Demon People Project (1)
Chapter 174
Demon People Project (1)
The Location of a minor Allied Kingdom.
Daylon, leading Cerberus, gulped hard as he scanned the area with his spyglass.
A massive demonic gate loomed ahead.
Around it, demonic cultists were congregated, torturing the kingdom’s people.
“Aaarghh!”
“……Please, Noo!”
The sound of someone despairing.
The sound of someone in agony.
Every time such sounds echoed around him, the amount of demonic energy flowing into the Gate to the Demon Realm increased.
Daylon wanted to jump in right now.
This wasn’t something that could be solved by running off alone. He had to remain as calm as possible, assess the situation, and react accordingly.
‘I don’t see any sign of the Apostle.’
Also, he wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be that way, but the gate to the demon realm was slightly open. Daylon could see a deep red color inside.
“Can you see it?”
The unfamiliar voice caused a chill to run down his spine.
‘누구지.’’Who is it?’
Daylon strained his senses, stretching them to their limits, but for a moment he felt absolutely nothing.
He lowered his spyglass and turned his head.
A mouth covered by a black hood was visible. The corners of its mouth curved into a grin. It was smirking, like they found something amusing.
“So, how did you feel about seeing the Demon Gate?”
“You’re an Apostle?”
“Uh, yep. That’s right. So how do you feel about it?”
Daylon broke out in a cold sweat.
Reinforcements hadn’t arrived yet.
If they clashed out now, it could lead to war, and the Cerberus forces would be wiped out.
He had to stall for time.
The only silver lining was that the Apostle was taking things slow.
Daylon gulped hard.
“Is the gate normally open like that?”
“Keheh. Nope.”
The Apostle licked his lips with his mouth.
“That’s because it’s me, because squeezing out demonic energy unlike the others is what I do best.”
“……”
“At the earliest, tonight. At the latest, tomorrow night.”
The Apostle chuckled.
“The Gate to the Demon Realm will be opened.”
A chilling energy emanated from his body. Daylon drew upon his mana to resist the demonic energy.
He hadn’t been fooling this whole time.
He had been working hard to improve his skills, listening to various news from Redin, and with the help of the Sword Maiden, he overcame the barrier.
Mastery.
Although he wasn’t yet accustomed to wielding that power, he felt confident that he could hold off the Apostle to some extent if a battle were to break out immediately.
“I won’t let that happen.”
“Hehehe. You and those guys back there are going to stop us? A passing goblin will laugh.”
*Peeeeeew!*
*Booom!*
A white firecracker exploded.
A sign that reinforcements had arrived.
“Looks like reinforcements have arrived.”
Daylon draws his sword and lunges at the Apostle, who dodges the swift slash and gathers their demonic energy.
The Apostle slammed their fist into the ground.
*BAAAM!*
The ground cracked and rubble rose up to encase Daylon. With his aura blade, Daylon sliced through them all.
Breaking free from his stone prison, Daylon swung his aura blade at the apostle.
“Haah!”
“No fucking way!”
The apostle gathered demonic energy in both hands and clapped his hands. Black sparks spread out in all directions, creating a tremendous pressure.
The surrounding area collapsed under the sheer pressure.
Dayron, who had been thrown into the air, rolled to a stop and coughed up a handful of blood.
“Uweek!”
As he wiped the blood away, he could see the Demon Cultists. A large number of them rushing towards him.
Seeing them, the apostle grinned.
“The enemies have finally arrived. Kill them all and offer them as sacrifices to the Master!”
“Waaaaaaaah!”
The number of Demon Cultists was alarming.
But their reinforcements were no less formidable.
Troops from various nations rushed to Daylon’s side, accompanied by Cerberus.
“Let’s wipe out all the Demon cultists!”
“May the glory of the Creator be with you.”
The sky split open and a white light descended, enveloping the allies. The light touched Daylon as well. The moment it touched him, his body returned to normal.
In addition, his sword was imbued with Divine Energy.
Daylon swung his sword at the apostle. The apostle responded by raising his demonic energy, but the demonic energy in his sword was purified.
Daylon continued his swift strikes.
The blade narrowly missed the Apostle’s neck.
“Tsk. This isn’t amusing.”
The apostle licked his lips, drawing forth demonic energy once more. It was on a different level than before. The energy surged out like an explosion.
It was more than the sword’s divine power could handle.
Daylon jumped backwards, putting distance between himself and the apostle.
*Swooosh!*
The demonic energy from the Apostle streamed into the demon cultists.
“Kkeuaaaag!”
“Euaaag!”
The bodies of the screaming cultists underwent a transformation. They grew in size, eyes blazing bright red, and exuded murderous energy.
They became akin to monsters.
The cultists surged forward, colliding with the allied forces on the ground.
*Boom!*
*Clang!*
Divine power clashed with Demonic power.
Thus the war began.
Initially, it felt like the allied forces were pushing forward aggressively, but that alone was not enough to feel reassured.
The Apostle has turned into a monster.
Unless the source could be dealt with, it seemed that even if they killed all the Demon Cultists, they wouldn’t be able to win the war.
“Kill them all!”
The monstrous apostle screamed as he made his move. Daylon leapt to the air, hoping to buy a few more minutes.
A black shadow appeared in front of him.
‘Is it Redin?’
But the figure that appeared shortly afterward was not Redin. It was a middle-aged man who looked familiar, but he couldn’t remember where.
He was wearing a Cerberus uniform.
“Who are you?”
“Henry Baskervan.”
The Leader of Brassel.
The King of Shadows.
Henry Baskervan.
Daylon recalled the conversation he had with Redin the other time. How they’d talked about using prisoners to form a special organization.
“We’ll take care of this one.”
At Henry Baskervan’s side was another prisoner, and together they lunged at the monsterized apostle.
Henry Baskervan’s shadow rushed at the apostle, and the apostle ducked under the fists of the prisoner next to him.
They brought the Apostle to a far corner of the courtyard.
“If we do this……. we can win.”
Deiron raised his sword and made his way toward the cultists.

The Adrian Kingdom.
Rebecca bit her lip as she continued to listen to the news of the Demon God Church.
“The demon church is following the path the Sinister made.”
“They say the Demon Church is actively operating in the south.”
“They’ve confirmed the presence of the Demon Church to the west… and the east as well.”
The Kingdom had already been damaged by the appearance of the Sinister.
Perhaps the Demon Church is aware of that fact and is targeting them.
They were swarming in, surrounding the Kingdom of Adrian. The kingdom’s forces were woefully inadequate to hold them all off.
“The kingdom will hold them off. Evacuate the people to the underground of the Royal Palace, and gather all the remaining troops we have.”
“Understood!”
The work was done quickly.
The palace mages prepared protective enchantments for the castle walls, and the knights led the soldiers, readying their cannons and arrows.
The citizens were all gathered in a safe house built beneath the Royal Palace.
And then the Demon Church arrived.
“……”
From her perch on the ramparts, Rebecca gazed out at the demon church in front of her.
A force that stretched across the city walls in the distance.
If they swarmed all at once, it wouldn’t be easy to stop them. But there was only one thing to do right now.
Call for reinforcements and wait for them to arrive.
“All units, prepare for battle!”
At Rebecca’s shout, the horn blared, and the knights and soldiers prepared for battle.
A tense atmosphere hung in the air.
But there was no movement on the side of the Demon Church. They just remained where they were and gazed towards this direction. Neither did they approach.
“What is this?”
The cultists showed no further movement until that night.
And so a day passed, and then two.
The knights and soldiers, deprived of proper sleep, struggled to maintain focus, unable to resist the urge to doze off and were shivering from the cold.
“They’re…. coming!”
Someone shouted, and the battle began.
The priests of the Demon Church, who had been waiting in the rear, attacked the castle walls using dark magic.
*Boooom!*
*BOOOOM!*
Spells crafted from demonic energy poured onto the fortress walls. The relentless barrage of magic ceased, and the cultist of the Demon Church retreated once again, waiting.
And then the Gate to the Demon Realm appeared.
The psychological terror of the Demon Gate caused knights, soldiers, and everyone else to have negative emotions.
Demonic Energy streaming through the Demonic Gate.
“I’ll stir things up.”
The Sword Maiden, accompanied by the members of the Moon Pavilion, crossed over the fortress walls
A flash of moonlight swept through the Demon Church cultists.
Anticipating such a response, the cultists calmly countered, driving out both the Moon Pavilion and the Sword Maiden.
In particular, the Apostle.
As he shattered the right arm of the Sword Maiden, the momentum of the war tipped in the Demon Church’s favor.
Still, the Demon Gods didn’t push too hard.
Morning, Mid-day, and Evening.
At each of these times, the priests used dark magic to attack the fortress walls. The soldiers could only tremble in response to the Church of the Demon God’s onslaught.
*Gnash!*
Rebecca gritted her teeth as she surveyed the battlefield
The amount of demonic energy flowing into the forces of the Demon Church was visible.
The troops manning the walls hadn’t gotten much sleep, and the people beneath the palace were trembling with fear.
As time passed…
…more demonic energy would be produced.”
They couldn’t just stand by and watch like this.
“Any news of our reinforcements?”
“After the initial contact, communication has been lost. It seems the Demon Church did something.”
“….Shit.”
Rebecca looked at the demonic gate in front of her.
A small crack open.
The sight of it made her feel like a prey in front of a predator.
“Your Majesty, the enemy is coming!”
Rebecca turned her gaze away and lowered her eyes to the base of the palace walls. The Demon Church, which hadn’t moved until now, was charging in all at once.
“Start!”
At Rebecca’s command, the soldiers let loose with arrows and artillery shells, while the mages behind them prepared their spells.
*Whooosh!*
*Boooooooom!*
Countless arrows and shells rained down on the front of the ramparts. Some of the cultists were swept aside, but the Demon Church refused to relent.
In contrary, they rushed in harder.
*CRACK!*
The black magic of the priests from the back broke the mages’ protective enchantments, and the resulting assault breached the palace walls.
*Thump!* *Thump!*
But that was only the beginning.
Sword-bearing cultists scaled the walls, climbing over the ramparts. The knights moved to stop them.
The cultists were simply far too numerous.
“Hold them back!”
“Keep them from coming up!”
Rebecca unsheathed her sword and joined the fray. She hadn’t let go of her swordsmanship training even when she became King. She swung her sword and slit the necks of the cultists who climbed the walls.
However, the forces of the Demon Church exceeded their number by far.
The walls were quickly overrun, and the number of soldiers and knights quickly dwindled.
“They’re precious fodder for producing demonic energy. Don’t kill them, just cut off their limbs!”
“Yes!”
“Waaaaaah!”
A hell where no hope is in sight.
Rebecca swung her sword without stopping.
But her stamina was not infinite.
Her body slowly became exhausted.
The speed of her swings decreased.
“……Help me.”
‘Please, anyone, help me.’
She wondered if they heard her cry.
A black dragon appeared from the sky, something fell from it, and it breathed out a huge flame.
*FWOOOOSH!*
