Chapter 9: Exchange?

Naruto: "Master Kurama, did you memorize the ninjutsu on the Forbidden Scroll?"

Kurama: "I did. But what are you offering in exchange?"

He remembered it? Just like that? Naruto felt a wave of relief. Despite all the chaos, the result was worth it. At the same time, he couldn't help but think, If only I had a better memory, I wouldn't have needed to involve Hinata or go through all this trouble. I wouldn't have had to deal with Kurama either.

As Naruto thought about the Forbidden Scroll, his consciousness suddenly shifted. He wasn't in the real world anymore—he was back in the Third Hokage's study!

He was crouched in the corner, holding the Forbidden Scroll in his hands.

What's going on?!

Naruto tried to move but found himself frozen, his perspective fixed. He realized this wasn't real—it was a memory! The scene was so vivid, it felt like he was actually back in the Third Hokage's house.

The scroll in his hands was open to the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu. Naruto tried to move the scroll, and to his surprise, he could read other techniques as well.

Is Kurama helping me?

Naruto: "Master Kurama?"

The scene shifted again, and Naruto found himself back in the seal space with Kurama.

Kurama: "What are you doing, brat? I asked you what you're offering in exchange for these techniques. Without a good deal, I'm not doing anything for you."

Naruto: "Master Kurama, did you just show me the techniques on the Forbidden Scroll? That's amazing!"

Kurama: "What are you talking about? What Forbidden Scroll?"

It wasn't Kurama? Then what just happened? Naruto was confused.

Wait… did I memorize the scene myself?

Naruto focused on recalling the Forbidden Scroll and the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu. Suddenly, the scene shifted again, and he was back in the Third Hokage's study, holding the scroll.

This is incredible! It's like I've perfectly recreated the memory!

Kurama's voice echoed: "Brat! Are you even listening to me?!"

Naruto: "Uh… never mind the deal. I think I've memorized the techniques myself."

Kurama roared: "You're messing with me?!"

Naruto: "No, I'm just as surprised as you are. Maybe merging two souls strengthened my memory. Anyway, I'll figure that out later. Right now, I need to practice the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu."

After reviewing the technique dozens of times in his mind, Naruto's consciousness returned to the interrogation room.

Naruto: "Can I practice ninjutsu here?"

The ninjas on duty exchanged glances. The Third Hokage hadn't given specific instructions before leaving, but given Naruto's status as the Fourth Hokage's son, they felt obligated to help.

One of them nodded. "Yes, you can."

Naruto: "Thank you."

Naruto focused on the steps of the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu, recalling every detail from the scroll. He began channeling his chakra and practicing.

Within an hour, he successfully created his first clone. Soon, he was creating more—two, three, nine, even dozens of clones filled the interrogation room.

The ninjas on duty were stunned.

Naruto: "Alright, now let's test what these clones can do."

According to the scroll, the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu was a versatile technique, useful for both combat and reconnaissance. The clones could be dismissed by either the original or the clone itself, and they could relay information back to the original.

Naruto decided to test this. He created three clones and gave one a specific instruction: Go to the ninja at the door and play rock-paper-scissors. After winning or losing, dismiss yourself.

The clone followed the order, approaching the ninja at the door.

Clone: "Hey, can you play rock-paper-scissors with me?"

The ninja, though surprised, agreed. They played, and the clone won.

Clone: "Thanks!"

The clone dismissed itself, and Naruto immediately received the memory of the game. He looked at the remaining clones.

Naruto: "Do you know what happened?"

Clone: "We won. We played rock, and the other played scissors."

Interesting. So when a clone is dismissed, the information it gathers is shared with all remaining clones and the original.

Naruto continued experimenting. He created two more clones and gave one a new set of instructions: Go to the door, play rock-paper-scissors, and if you receive another command during the game, follow it. If no command is given within five seconds, dismiss yourself.

This time, the clone followed the instructions perfectly. It played the game, received the additional command, and dismissed itself after five seconds.

Naruto: "This technique is amazing!"

He realized that the first command given to a clone had the highest priority. Any subsequent commands had to align with the first one.

Next, Naruto tested whether a clone could create its own clones. He gave the order: Run to the door and create another shadow clone.

The clone succeeded, but Naruto noticed that his chakra didn't decrease further. The clone's clone was drawing from the original clone's chakra pool.

Just as Naruto was marveling at the technique, the door burst open.

Third Hokage: "Naruto! You've learned the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

The Third Hokage stood in the doorway, staring in astonishment at the dozens of Narutos filling the room.
