Chapter 24: idk how far to push this
Gazing at the setting sun, he realized Huangfu Jing took the time to set up camp for them.
Now seemingly dancing within the rocky terrain, believing she was just training.
Though she performed something miraculous that broke all laws of physics.
Taking a step into the air rather than the rocks, she took another before landing on a rock.
It appeared like an illusion to the unbelieving eye. A single large leap, many would believe with just a little flair.
But no, Ren realized this was much more.
"Oh, your back." She took Ren out of his thoughts.
"Yeah, uh-sorry, but was that—." He was interrupted by a panicked Huangfu Jing.
"No! Ah- it wasn't! What are you talking about!" She spoke flustered
Sighing, Ren tried to soothe her. "Alright, alright. It's not a big deal. You don't have to tell me your secret if you don't want to."
"Ah, well it's not that." She responded sorta downtrodden, not wanting to have a secret start a rift in their relationship.
So Ren spoke up. "It really doesn't matter much. You should already know I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to learning new things. Especially when it comes to martial arts."
A flaw of Rens words that Huangfu Jing picked up on, completely ignoring the previous situation. "Huh? Then why do you keep avoiding my invitation to join the Aries martial hall and become the successor of a tenth geno lock geno art!?" She nearly flipped out.
Making Ren realize his blunder, and tryed to explain himself. "Uh-well, you see. I don't actually need the opportunity. And becoming someone's disciple would mean my freedom and secrets would become vulnerable."
Though this didn't seem to faze Huangfu Jing, as her eyes continued to glare daggers into him.
He could only sigh and try to reason with her to no result.
It seems the equation of this proposition added a new variable. This being, his relationship with Huangfu Jing.
The only reason he kept in touch with her was now meeting its nexus.
A rift that he didn't seem capable of melding through reason. But only with action, not accepting her proposal and the relationship was certain to deteriorate with a strong possibility of dissipating.
Ren didn't know if he'd ever have another chance to run into somebody who was linked with Han Sen, thus he must concede his preferred option.
"Alright, alright." He sighed, interrupting her ranting. "You win." He muttered, instantly brightening her face.
He continued. "I'll join you in the martial hall." Knowing it wasn't the worst option in the world.
Everybody had to enter a military school when they came of age. And being a part of a large organization that greatly aided the human race wouldn't dispel this decree.
But it would allow him the privilege to be exempt from military service. Something he had already planned to avoid through the Saint hall, but the Martial hall isn't bad either.
Wrapping him in a hug, Huangfu Jing was extremely happy, almost shedding a tear, feeling a great burden leave her heart with great hope.
Her feelings so intense she couldn't help but mutter her deepest feelings. "I love you." She blushed in embarrassment and burying her head into his chest.
Ren could help by chuckling lightly, he hugged her back. Knowing he was trapped, if he didn't reciprocate her feelings things would turn annoying and complicated so he comforted her by saying. "I love you too."
Making her squirm abit, they sat there for awhile till he felt a bit awkward so he began whispering sweet words into her ear, trying to gain a foothold to change the situation to turn in for the night and continue their excursion.
Taking their time to enter the tent, Huangfu Jing wouldn't break their hug so they fell asleep like so, till the next morning and Ren could break the hug while she kept sleeping.
He silently took the time to wrap their little camp up, and meditate before she awoke not long later.
Exchanging greetings, Huangfu Jing didn't hesitate to take Ren into an intimate hug. Who reciprocated and took out some raccoon jerky from the other day.
Having breakfast while summoning the mount to continue their journey. A few days passed running into a sacred blood creature every day. Of which Huangfu Jing dispatched with some effort refining her own skills.
They finally arrived at the next predetermined location of a super creature. This time the creature Ren had identified as a four armed ape was nowhere to be seen.
Prompting them to set up camp and train, while the nightmare cat beast-soul pet searched the area.
Not needing to waste extra time searching, themselves.
Ren kickstarted the conversation they had previously, before the arguments the other day.
"The way you move in battle. How does it work? It's really similar to one of my techniques." Ren asked, interested in the 'heavenly go' technique.
A technique not only impressive within the confines of the sanctuary, but within the entire genoverse and beyond.
"Ah-well, it's supposed to be a secret." Huangfu Jing spoke in hesitation, not wishing for this subject to be a cause for conflict between them.
"I understand and you don't have to tell me, I won't allow it to be an issue. I was just interested… you know when I acquire that other geno art, I'd like for us to share our techniques to better ourselves." He offered to understand the plausibility of the trade.
