Chapter 171 - 171 The Dragon Hunter Strikes Out
Chapter 171: Chapter 171 The Dragon Hunter Strikes Out
The Mutators defending the formation had not noticed this development. Upon seeing the Ultra-Burn Warriors, who had charged without fear of death for so long, suddenly retreat like the tide, and hearing the war drums below stop, they could not help but cheer, believing that the Ultra-Burning Corps that had been unassailable for so long had finally given up.
Just as they were cheering for their imminent victory, they saw another group of Ultra-Burn Warriors step onto Sky Star Slope.
Unlike before, this time the first two rows of Ultra-Burn Warriors were dressed in red with red helmets, and the Big Red Bulls they rode were particularly striking.
“One… two… eight… sixteen… my god… there are sixteen deputy legion commander-level Ultra-Burn Warriors…” Everyone was taken aback.
But seeing the sixteen deputy legion commanders was not as simple as being taken aback. Behind them, the upcoming Ultra-Burn Warriors were adorned in Crystal Base armor, and there were many of them — at least a thousand strong.
“My god, after fighting for so long, the Ultra-Burning Corps still has so many at the Crystal Base Level!”
“The Ultra-Burning Corps is gearing up for their final fierce assault, we must hold on!”
“All Crystal Base-level charges, one after another without a break, who can withstand this!”
On Sky Star Slope, all the cheers of the Mutators got stuck in their throats.
They were indeed exhausted. Although they had rested in turns, it was difficult to fully recover their overextended strength in a short time.
Especially since many of their pets had perished, they had to form a wall with their own bodies to stop one charge after another, leading to enormous exhaustion.
“All Alloy Level retreat to the top of the mountain, Crystal Base Level who are still able to fight, regroup…” Bai Shenfei continually issued orders.
If most Mutators still had the confidence to hold on until the countdown ended, the moment the flight squadron appeared in the sky, all Mutators looked ashen.
Although the flight squadron was not large, with just over a hundred riders, the Mutators were confident in holding out because they had Sky Star Slope as a natural barrier. As long as they blocked this one path, no matter how many the Ultra-Burning Corps had, they could not break through.
But now, with over a hundred Crystal Base Ultra-Burn Warriors being air-dropped to disrupt their formation from within, it would be even harder to hold the line.
If the Ultra-Burning Corps’ massive army charged up, no one would survive.
“All Alloy Mutators scatter and try to stay isolated. Ouyang Yudu, you lead a Crystal Base squad responsible for blocking the charge below, no matter what, they can’t be allowed to break through, leave the rest to me,” Bai Shenfei said, drawing her longsword and tossing aside its scabbard, leading another team to defend the rear.
After hearing the orders, the Alloy Mutators scattered in all directions towards the top of the mountain.
As long as they were scattered enough, the flight squadron would not have the energy to chase down each one of them.
The main task of the flight squadron was to help the troops below charge up and create a breakthrough; that was their goal.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The war drum sound that had just stopped for a moment started up again, thundering battle cries and the thunder-like sound of hooves rose simultaneously.
The Ultra-Burning Corps launched their fiercest charge yet; the entire charging team, composed of Crystal Base, surged up Sky Star Slope like a mighty serpent.
One after another, Sky-flying Giant Bulls took flight, and under the command of the Ultra-Burn Warriors, they swooped towards Horseshoe Mountain like a group of evil dragons.
However, these were just flying bulls, not real Evil Dragons, except for the Red Lance Knight at the forefront, whose mount, the Black Crystal Evil Dragon, was a genuine dragon-type creature.
“Brothers, if you want to survive, then we must fight for our lives,” Ouyang Yudu and Wei Wufu stood side by side at the front of the formation, each holding a Red Crystal Battle Axe in hand. Facing the raging charge of the Ultra-Burning Corps, their eyes showed no trace of fear.
“Then let’s do the motherfucker,” a group of Crystal-based Variants also had their inner ferocity and bloodlust ignited by war, ready to fight to the death.
Bai Shenfei saw that Lin Shen was still here and said to him, “Go, find a place with fewer people, and you might still survive.”
Lin Shen thought for a moment, said something to Wei, and then left the area, running towards the open space at the mountain summit.
The charge below had already begun. The first wave of eight Ultra-Burn Warriors in red hadn’t even reached the position when they pulled out their Pet Launchers and launched wave after wave of pets up the mountain, with Crystal-based pets landing on the mountain one after another.
Ouyang Yudu and Wei Wufu didn’t have time to care about those Crystal-based pets. Their Battle Axes in hand, they faced the furious charge of the eight red-clad Ultra-Burn Warriors.
Two against eight, the pair held the pass.
In the sky, a formation of Sky-flying Giant Bulls soared across, the Pet Launchers in their hands continuously firing into the crowd of Mutators, with pet after pet charging into the throng.
“Kill!” Bai Shenfei commanded and, like an arrow shooting to the sky, leapt up tens of feet and with a single sword stroke, sent the head of a low-flying Flying Bull Knight soaring off.
The other Crystal-based Variants also charged towards the pets descending from the sky, with the sounds of killing and explosions shaking the heavens and the earth.
Lin Shen had already reached the empty summit and watched as other Alloy Level Mutators scattered in all directions, hoping to find a slim chance of survival in this brutal war.
But the mountain was surrounded by walls as if cut by a knife, and only the summit’s platform could support people. Indeed, the summit’s platform was not small, big enough to fit several soccer fields.
Yet no matter how large, there was only so much space, with no place to hide, leaving everyone exposed to the flying squads.
If these Alloy Level Mutators survived, it would depend not on how hard they ran but whether the flying squads chose to hunt them down.
When a few Flying Bull Knights flew in from the sky, not charging at the Crystal Base forces at the pass but instead towards the scattered Alloy Mutators, those being pursued felt a wave of despair.
“Damn it, I’m going all out. I don’t believe it, with so many of us, we can’t even kill one Crystal-based, taking one down with us would be something,” someone, enraged, stopped running and drew his sword, ready to fight to the death.
Actually, they couldn’t outrun them; the Flying Bulls were much faster.
In the moment that the Flying Bull Knights skimmed at low altitude, suddenly a figure leaped up.
The Base Variants, prepared to fight to the death, saw a uniquely-shaped humanoid Base Variant Creature charging at the Flying Bull Knights.
This humanoid Base Variant Creature wore Green Steel Armor with Light Patterns, looking like a holy warrior, a guardian deity.
As he propelled himself into the air, the Light Patterns on his body became increasingly intense, like dragon patterns winding around him.
An Ultra-Burn Warrior, who had already reached the humanoid Base Variant Creature, brandished a Red Crystal Long Spear in his hand, stabbing towards the Dragon Hunter, Jiweis.
Jiweis actually caught the incoming spear with his hand and decisively flipped the Ultra-Burn Warrior off, tossing him out beyond the mountain walls.
Stepping on the back of the riderless Sky-flying Giant Bull, Jiweis leaped again into the air. With the confiscated Red Crystal Long Spear in hand, he hurled it back and instantly skewered another Ultra-Burn Warrior mounted on a Flying Bull.
He himself lunged towards another Flying Bull Knight. Nearby Crown Bull Knights dove towards him, their long spears targeting Jiweis.
Jiweis, unable to change direction mid-air, swung his hands, adorned with electrifying dragon-shaped Light Patterns, at the Red Crystal Long Spears, shattering each of them with his bare hands.
By the time he landed on the back of a Flying Bull, he grasped the short blade that the Ultra-Burn Warrior stabbed with one hand and twisted his neck with the other.
The riderless Flying Bull plunged towards the summit; Jiweis, standing on its back, grabbed the bull’s horn and forcibly redirected the Flying Bull upward.
“Whoa… whose pet is that… strong… really strong…” Seeing Jiweis’s powerful assault, someone exclaimed in surprise.
