Chapter 170 - 170: Perpetual Motion Tian
Chapter 170: Chapter 170: Perpetual Motion Tian
Ouyang Yudu used the Crooked Path Heresy Skill for a while but then stopped and reverted to using the skills of Wei Wufu.
Because his physical strength was about to become a problem, using the Crooked Path Heresy would only speed up his exhaustion rate and shorten his combat time.
Under the current circumstances, there was no need for him to be too strong, but the ability to last longer was essential.
Lin Shen, however, didn’t have to worry so much. His physical strength was still abundant, and his Base Mutation strength was equally sufficient, even without activating the Super Base Pattern.
After ascending to the Alloy level, his Base Mutation Carapace could absorb energy from the world, albeit in small amounts.
After all, the hieroglyphics etched onto the carapace still had some effect, even if they weren’t fully activated.
Lin Shen was somewhat addicted to practicing the Crooked Path Heresy, constantly figuring out how to exploit the timing of his moves. Every little new insight excited him greatly.
Unbeknownst to him, Ouyang Yudu had already withstood three rounds and fought in the arena for three hours.
In theory, given Ouyang Yudu’s current condition, the fact he could last another three hours was already astonishing.
But when he saw the still lively Lin Shen, his expression became somewhat strange.
Lin Shen had come up to fight alongside Wei Wufu, and while Wei Wufu had gone down to rest for three hours, Lin Shen seemed to have no problem at all. Even he found the durability of Lin Shen’s physical and Base Mutation strength somewhat terrifying.
“You go down, I go up,” Wei Wufu came over again and took Ouyang Yudu’s place.
As Ouyang Yudu left the arena, most people started to notice something unusual.
“That Tian, he seems to have come up with Wei Wufu the first time, right? Wei Wufu went down to rest in between, but he didn’t go down, did he?”
“He seems to have really good stamina, doesn’t he?”
“This is what you call ultra-long standby.”
“Wei Wufu goes up, Ouyang Yudu goes up next, then Ouyang Yudu is replaced by Wei Wufu again, but he’s been there all along. How enduring is that?”
“Even excellent employees aren’t as resilient as him.”
“He should be practicing Evolution Theory, right? Is Evolution Theory this enduring?”
…
Bai Shenfei and others also noticed Lin Shen. Mo Shengqi voiced his surprise, “Tian’s endurance is so strong. How many hours has it been? Except for occasionally stepping back to rest briefly and drink something, he hasn’t really rested, has he?”
“More than eight hours, almost nine hours now,” Li Tiangang joined in, “I think there must be something wrong with the potion he’s drinking. I’ve heard that there’s a potion in Tiancheng that can restore a large amount of Base Mutation energy in a short time.”
“Wei Wufu is of the genuine Wei Family bloodline. Have you seen him rapidly recover after drinking something?” Mo Shengqi did not agree with Li Tiangang’s point of view.
“Then it must be an Innate Skill,” Li Tiangang suggested again.
Bai Shenfei was looking at Lin Shen with a complicated gaze. She too was puzzled by Lin Shen’s strength and endurance, which were indeed out of the ordinary.
But she hadn’t heard that practicing Evolution Theory would have such effects, and she wondered how Lin Shen had achieved this.
“Could Evolution Theory also make him flower?” This thought flashed through Bai Shenfei’s mind but was quickly dismissed by her, “It must be an Innate Skill. It seems the Base Mutation Egg he used for his Base Mutation is quite good, granting him a commendable Base Change Talent.”
Others thought that Lin Shen’s Base Mutation Talent was strong, which wasn’t wrong, but the problem was that he hadn’t even used his Base Mutation Talent yet.
Lin Shen was utterly in love with the “Crooked Path Heresy” created by Ouyang Yudu. The more he used it, the more proficient he became. Each swing of the Battle Axe was extremely uncomfortable for his opponents, making them feel both awkward and distressed.
What brings others discomfort is Lin Shen’s greatest comfort.
His axe swung relentlessly, the number of Alloy Pets and Ultra-Burn Warriors he’d chopped down was beyond counting; the original color of the rocks on Sky Star Slope was no longer visible.
Fortunately, the abyss on either side was unfathomably deep, allowing many corpses to fall into its depths, otherwise, the piled bodies would have formed small hills by now.
Many had begun to take an interest in Tian, wondering just how much longer he could hold on.
After Lin Shen persevered for ten hours, an outside moniker had already emerged for him, “Perpetual Motion Tian.”
Of course, there were those who joked, calling him “the most enduring man in the world.”
While the matter of Perpetual Motion Tian amused many,
the current situation was anything but optimistic, with more Pets dying and more people getting injured.
Even those who were unscathed were now exhausted, their strength and Base Mutation energy almost completely depleted.
Even with potions and Base Mutation Fluid for replenishment, full recovery was impossible.
Not just ordinary Mutators, but powerhouses like Bai Shenfei and Ouyang Yudu were also extremely exhausted from continuous support in combat, with no way to fully restore their spent strength and Base Mutation power.
Already, more than a dozen of our own had died, and the death toll was still rising; we’d almost been overrun by the Ultra-Burning Corps several times.
If not for the timely support of powerhouses like Bai Shenfei and Ouyang Yudu, perhaps we would have already been overrun by the Ultra-Burning Corps.
Time ticked away, each moment an agony.
“Just another fourteen hours to hold out, no matter what,” Mo Shengqi, supporting a breached section once more, faced a Crystal Base Level Ultra-Burn Warrior. His swordplay was unpredictable, but due to his immense exhaustion, his movements had slowed significantly. After a grueling exchange of scores of blows, he finally slew the Ultra-Burn Warrior.
Everyone was tired, and as the number of wounded increased and those killed grew, fewer were available to rotate into battle. Some lightly wounded Mutators, after receiving treatment, had no choice but to take their turns fighting once more.
After another grueling five hours, an unusual disturbance came from below Sky Star Slope.
Bai Shenfei and the others quickly grabbed binoculars to see, and at the sight, their faces turned pale.
Below Sky Star Slope, sixteen Great Red Bull Knights appeared — each in red battle helmets and armors, wielding Red Crystal Battle Axes as Crystal Base Warriors.
Behind them, a numerous array of Crystal Base Level Ultra-Burn Warriors followed; though they might not match the abilities of the sixteen Great Red Bull Knights, the sheer number was enough to drive one to despair.
“Look at the very back,” Ouyang Yudu didn’t use binoculars, instead squinting and observing before speaking.
Bai Shenfei, Mo Shengqi, and the others quickly used their telescopes to examine the rear of the Ultra-Burning Corps, spotting a phalanx of Ultra-Burn Cavalry that was quite peculiar.
Their Big Black Bull mounts were different from the ordinary ones; these Bulls had huge dragon wings.
This array also numbered over a hundred, and judging by their equipment, each was likely at the Crystal Base Level.
Furthermore, with the capability of flight provided by their mounts, they posed a massive threat to the human Mutators already overextended with fatigue.
Even more terrifying, leading the flying cavalry formation was a Red-clothed War General on a Black Crystal Giant Dragon, wielding an exceedingly long Red Crystal Long Spear, issuing orders and directing his forces towards Sky Star Slope.
“They’re preparing for a final fierce onslaught!” Mo Shengqi swallowed hard, his expression stiffening.
Having fought until now, with thousands of Crystal Base troops still facing us, even a flying unit yet unutilized, who wouldn’t be alarmed?
