Chapter 33: ch-32
Suraj sat at the head of the table in Mythic Productions' sleek meeting room, surrounded by his executive team and core employees. For ten days, the company had been in intense meetings, brainstorming and charting out the future of Mythic Productions. The time had come for Suraj to reveal his vision and discuss his ambitious plans for creating Bharat's first cinematic universe—a concept still new to everyone in the room.
As he handed out the script for Raw's Rampage, Suraj announced that he had a critical decision to make: he intended to turn this script into a high-quality OTT series instead of a feature film. Murmurs immediately filled the room. For many, it felt like a waste to make such a script—one that had a thrilling plot and a powerful character like Ravan—into a series rather than a big-budget film.
One of the executives voiced the collective thought, "Suraj, with a story as powerful as this, isn't it better to make it into a movie? An OTT series could diminish its impact."
Suraj leaned forward, his gaze steady and determined. "I get where you're coming from, but this series is the foundation of something much bigger. Raw's Rampage isn't just another story; it's the backbone of the universe I'm building. In Bloody Commando, we hardly touched on the world beyond Arjun's mission, and there wasn't much time to expand the universe. With Raw's Rampage, I want to create a detailed world that the audience can fully immerse themselves in—a world of intrigue, shadows, and untold bravery."
He paused, gauging their reactions before continuing. "A film would restrict us with time constraints and censoring issues, especially with a story this complex and gritty. In an OTT series, we can dive deep, build a proper timeline, develop characters without rushing, and leave the kind of lasting impact that defines the start of a true cinematic universe."
A few nodded, beginning to understand his perspective. But there was still skepticism. One employee brought up another point, "But Suraj, you know the reputation of OTT series in Bharat right now. Most are poorly produced, with cliched plots, and end up being trolled online. Horror chronicles, one of Bharat+'s highest-rated series, cost barely 3 crores to produce and even that had limited success. And they didn't push for high production values."
The horror chronicles, a popular series on Bharat+, told the story of a 3 friends facing evil entity along the way. Despite being well-received, its budget was a fraction of what Suraj was proposing, and it lacked the high production standards he envisioned for Raw's Rampage.
"Yes, I know the risks," Suraj acknowledged. "And that's exactly why we're going to do this differently. I want to raise the bar for storytelling and production quality in Bharat's OTT space. We're going to invest 15-20 crores in this series, which will make it the most ambitious OTT production this country has ever seen."
The room went silent. Everyone was stunned. Mythic Productions would be setting a record with such a massive budget. Investing so much in a single series, with no precedent of such high-quality OTT content in Bharat, sounded like a major gamble. A junior executive finally spoke, "Suraj, it's impressive, but how can you be sure it'll pay off? That's a huge investment for an untested market."
Suraj smiled, ready for the challenge. "Look, I understand this seems risky. But consider this—if we succeed, we're creating an entirely new standard for entertainment in Bharat. We're not just making a series; we're crafting something that will draw viewers in and leave them craving more. We're also making a brand. People want quality, authenticity, and stories that resonate with them on a deeper level. We give them that, and they'll be loyal to our brand."
He leaned back, letting his words settle in before delivering his final point. "This isn't just an expense; it's an investment in a new era. Once Raw's Rampage establishes our universe, we'll have a loyal audience ready for every new story we bring. We'll own the space for high-quality storytelling, and when viewers think of gripping, powerful content, they'll think of Mythic Productions. That kind of loyalty will drive revenue, not only from streaming but from potential spin-offs, merchandise, and everything else that comes with building a true cinematic universe."
The executives exchanged glances, some still wary but others beginning to feel the excitement. Suraj's passion and vision were contagious. His plan wasn't just about short-term returns; he was aiming for a long-term legacy that could secure Mythic Productions' place as a pioneer in the Bharat film industry.
Kunal, Suraj's father's trusted friend, finally broke the silence. "If this works, we'll have something no other production house has managed to do in Bharat. Let's back Suraj and make Raw's Rampage a series that sets the standard for everything that follows."
With renewed determination and the support of his team, Suraj's vision started to take form.
