Star Wars: Conquest

Chapter 4: 4 Planning the Drop

A soothing music woke Jon Roberts up from his sleep. He opened his eyes, looked at everything as usual around the environment, and scratched his head. It looked like he couldn't go back to his old life.

[Commander, I'm sorry to bother you, but your decision is vital.] Next to the communicator came the voice of Skylar.

Jon Roberts did not pay attention, just stood up from the bed, went to the bathroom and started to take a shower and told Mei to set the temperature of the water to warm but a little hot.

After taking a shower, Jon looked into the mirror, thinking about what needs to be done starting today. After a long time, he suddenly put on his clothes and called for Mei. "Mei! Lead the way to the bridge and wake up some Elite talent people that can help with picking out locations for the start of our colony."

"Commander, I'm sorry to wake you." Arriving at the Command Center, Skylar saluted Jon Roberts respectfully.

"Say it."

"The Engineering Teams have set up two mining stations near the gas giant, and two transport ships filled full of helium-3 have been sent back and refined while you were resting. Now we're ready to take off more spacecraft, especially transport ships that need to fly back and forth between Sanctuary and the Mothership." Skylar said.

"Go on."

"And then... The recon teams had reported back and had made an initial selection of 20 landing sites, one of which we could select to unfold the landing point." Skylar said as he opened a screen for Jon Roberts.

"Landing points? Does this need to come from me specifically?" Jon Roberts was a little strange.

Skylar relied solemnly, "Commander, this is the first colony is likely to be used as our capital in the future. I... I dare not presume to make that choice."

"But presume you do..." A man wakes in leading two others into the Command Center. Jon Roberts and Skylar turn to see him and the others.

"Mei who are these three people?"

"They are Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, Dr. Luke Wedmore and Dr. Anna Garder." Mei replied.

"What do you mean Admiral?" Jon asks the man.

"The look in his eyes says he has already made a choice on where to settle the colony." Admiral Yamamoto replied.

"Is that true Sklar?" Jon asks.

"Yes Sir. I looked at all the landing sites before you arrived in the Command Center." Skylar replied.

"Can the four of you look at where will be a good place to start our colony and give me your recommendations?" Jon asks the four of them.

A couple hours later, Skylar and the rest come over to the Commander to give their recommendations.

While Jon was looking at the database he told Mei. "Mei wake up scientists of each science field."

"Will be done as you have asked Sir."

"Commander, we have found the perfect place to start the colony. We are just waiting on your OK to start sending down people to start building." Skylar said.

"OK, what does the location look like?"

Skylar brought up the holographic projection of the location. "Just here, here the latitude is moderate, and there are water sources around. There is also a hilly area of more than 1,000 meters above sea level as a Commanding point for defense. We can send down 100 Marines to land and start construction of the settlement immediately after establishing the defense line."

Jon looked and said: "We can start the colony here, but I think we should send more Marines down then 100 maybe 250 Marines will be enough and can help out when not doing defense."

"Yes, Commander! This is our first colony! Our first steps into this Universe!" Skylar was a little excited and immediately arranged the work.

After determining the landing point, all aspects of the work immediately started. The people inside the hibernation cabins are experts in all aspects, and the crew have begun to perform their respective functions. Jon Roberts does not need to give detailed guidance.

Soon, a transport ship with 25 Marines and 100 Construction workers took off from the Mothership and landed on Sanctuary. The Marines fanned out to chase away the wildlife and drop their locator beacons while the Construction workers began to assemble their Mechanized Exoskeletons for Engineering.

"Beacon signal normal, Commander, ready to put the Mothership into geosynchronous orbit." Skylar confirmed the beacon signal after Jon Roberts said.

Jon Roberts nodded and said to the Operators on the bridge Operation platform: "Enter into geosynchronous orbit of Sanctuary and keep the Mothership above the beacon at all times. Mei, you to assist."

[Understood.]

The engines of the Mothership, which are more than 41,300 meters high, started up again, and the mighty force propelling this 370-billion-ton behemoth began to move forward, falling continuously into the outer circle of gravity of the moon and then started to maintain the same speed as the rotation of the moon.

When approaching Sanctuary's orbit, the Mothership's huge mass caused several 3-5-mafnitude earthquakes and groundwater injection phenomena on the surface of the moon.

Once in orbit, due to the centripetal force and inertia of the moon's rotation, the Mothership needed very little power to maintain navigation. Keeping in sync with the landing beacons, a hatch in the center of the Mothership opens, and an Orbital drop-off module is launched.

Due to fiction in the atmosphere, the surrounding air began to burn, and from the ground, it seemed to fall toward the ground like meteors. Just before it hits the ground, the reverse engine of the capsule starts to shoot out a roaring flame toward the ground, helping the capsule to land smoothly.

Construction workers, who were already at the ready, opened the capsule and assembled the modular housing made of ultralight materials inside. The shell of the capsule is the outer walls of the building. In less than 20 minutes, a three-story building was built.

The Mothership is launching at a rate of every 10 minutes and dropped buildings, including housing, solar and wind power, water purification and so on.

Jon Roberts also selected some farmers and maintenance workers among the 1 billion frozen hibernating residents to wake up and then let them land on Sanctuary by the transport ships. He also selected a person named Jay from this group and appointed him as the Village Head. The small colony, which has a total of 1,000 people, is really a small village.

Once the colony had begun, everything proceeded in a methodical rhythm. Jon stretched and stood up. Looking at the busy people, his heart was still a little heavy.

Jon commanded, "Mei, pull up the data I need. I have many things to do."

[Understood, Commander.]

He was a little resigned now, and there was a vague sense that he could not return to his family. If that's the case, if he continues to be so muddled, then maybe one day, when the Star Destroyers of the Empire arrives, his forces will still be destitute.

What's more, Jon Roberts just saw Skylar's and the rest of the crew's fanatical and looking forward eyes. He also understands that he cannot live in the past, and... If this Mothership is really the return five by the so-called fates, gods, or whatever... Well...

Jon Roberts sat back on the commander's chair on the bridge and opened the entry of the colonial plan to see. He needed to understand what difficulties he would face, how to solve them, and the most he should understand, how to establish a colony.

Establishing their own solid forces is always the best choice in the case of the unknown environment and rapid development.

Pressing down the confusion and unease in his heart, Jon Roberts opened the "Guide to the Construction of Star Colonies" entry and the document.

His eyes also gradually began to become intense!

This is mine- it's all mine! Those endless pieces of technology! The endless talents! With such a foundation, I should make sure no one can take anything way for me...

That's right... With everyone here we can build something great and not lose it to anyone.
