Chapter 268: Chapter 268: Birthday Boy (End)

[Third Person's PoV]

"A-Are you sure… that you're p-pregnant and not just going through menopause or something?" Ben asked in a shaky voice.

"I thought the same. That's why I didn't say anything at first…" Aunt May admitted awkwardly. "But lately, I've been feeling nauseous in the mornings, and after what just happened, I'm starting to think otherwise."

Ben blinked repeatedly, opening and closing his mouth. "B-But you're…"

"I was infertile," Aunt May corrected. She then turned to Peter, who was staring into space in disbelief. "However, someone here gave us a little boost…" She hinted at the Super Soldier Serum Peter had given them.

Peter's expression turned serious. "I'm sorry for the breach of privacy I'm about to commit."

Ben and May looked at him in confusion—until they saw his hazel eyes glow bright blue, faint sparks of electricity crackling in his irises.

"What are you doing?" Aunt May asked, raising an eyebrow at his scrutinizing gaze.

Peter's eyebrows shot up. His hands flew to his mouth, clamping it shut as his eyes widened. A loud, suppressed squeal barely escaped his lips.

"What!? What?!" Ben asked in a panicked tone at Peter's reaction.

Gwen rushed over, whispering hurriedly, "Did you use your X-ray vision?"

Peter, still covering his mouth, rapidly nodded.

Uncle Ben stood rooted in place. "So… it's true?"

Peter turned to him and gave another rapid nod.

Aunt May and Uncle Ben's smiles widened before Ben suddenly burst into boisterous laughter. He rushed toward May, lifting her off the ground and spinning her around with sheer joy.

"We're going to be parents!! HAHAHA!" he exclaimed before kissing her.

Aunt May laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Put me down, you big doofus! I get that you're happy, but you're making me dizzy over here!"

"Right, sorry, sorry!" Uncle Ben said, carefully setting her down.

Harry smiled warmly at the scene, but when he turned to Gwen and MJ, he flinched. Both were fanning their eyes, trying to keep from crying.

"Why are you crying!?" Harry asked, startled.

"Why wouldn't we!?" MJ shot back. "We're so happy for them!"

Gwen pouted, nodding in agreement.

Aunt May turned to Peter, who was watching them with a happy expression. She sighed before reaching out to caress his cheek. "I'm sorry, Pete. Today was supposed to be your special day."

Peter scoffed. "Are you kidding me? I'll have plenty more birthdays—this is so much more important! I couldn't have asked for a better present."

He pulled Aunt May into a hug. She smiled and hugged him back, whispering emotionally, "Thank you… This is all possible because of you."

Peter grinned. "If you say it like that, I'm going to have to demand naming rights."

Aunt May chuckled. "I'll think about it."

Just then, George peeked his head inside from the door. "Well? We're all waiting in suspense here. What's going on?"

But as he took in the emotional atmosphere, realization dawned on his face. "Damn… so it's true. You guys are really expecting."

He stepped forward, congratulating Aunt May and Uncle Ben with an affectionate pat on the back. George had come to care deeply for them, especially with how much they'd done for him and Gwen. Over time, he and Ben had become best friends, so this news made him genuinely happy.

Meanwhile, Gwen and MJ rushed over to Aunt May, emotionally congratulating her. Even Aunt May started to tear up as Harry joined in.

Aunt May wiped her eyes. "Let's go outside. It's rude to keep the guests waiting."

Peter grinned and took the lead, jumping outside with a celebratory cheer.

"WHOOO-HOOOO! TODAY, WE CELEBRATE FOR A DIFFERENT OCCASION, PEOPLE!"

Everyone smiled as Peter's words confirmed what they had all been hearing—the news of a new life was always a joyous thing to celebrate.

As Aunt May stepped out, everyone raised their drinks in the air.

"Congratulations!" they cheered, clinking glasses with one another.

Aunt May flushed slightly at the sudden attention. "Thank you, I appreciate it," she muttered meekly. "But let's not forget why we're all here—"

"No, please, I beg you! I'm so happy you're taking everyone's attention away from me! Continue to do so!" Peter sincerely pleaded.

Aunt May sighed with amused exasperation, shaking her head.

The party, which had briefly mellowed, picked up again with renewed enthusiasm.

Peter chuckled to himself as he watched Aunt May become the center of attention, a small, lighthearted smile on her face.

Nearby, Aunt May turned to Lydia, her lips curling in amusement. "I thought you said you had somewhere to be?"

Lydia, now comfortably seated and eating a slice of cake meant for later, waved a hand dismissively. "Girl, we may have just met today, but this is way more important. I already sent a message canceling."

"You really didn't have to do that, Lydia…" Aunt May said awkwardly.

"Nonsense. This is exciting! It reminds me of when I was pregnant with Felicia. Since this is your first pregnancy, I feel like I should give you some pointers…" Lydia said, clearly eager to chat.

"I have two kids, so I hope you don't mind if I join in and offer my own advice," Madeline added with a warm smile.

The three women soon fell into deep conversation, chatting and sharing stories long into the evening as the sun finally set and the sky darkened.

At some point, Norman had to leave early, the first to say his farewells. Soon after, the Fantastic Four followed.

"Thank you for having us over, Peter. It was a nice change to finally meet your family," Reed said warmly, shaking Peter's hand.

"Yeah, no problem! I know how busy you guys usually are, so I really appreciate you making time to come," Peter replied gratefully.

Ben patted Peter lightly on the head with his large, rocky hand. "Tell your family congratulations, kiddo. They're good people—I can see now why you turned out so well."

Susan gave Peter a warm hug. "We'll be seeing you, Peter. Thanks for the invitation."

Johnny, meanwhile, smirked as he nudged Peter. "Look at you, smiling and all. You're really happy to be a big brother, huh?"

"Shut it, Johnny," Peter shot back playfully.

Johnny chuckled, placing a hand on Peter's shoulder. "Here's my advice—I might not be the oldest, but I know what it's like to be the youngest. My advice? Don't turn into my sister, or that kid's gonna suffer—OW!!"

He yelped as Susan whacked him on the back of the head, shooting him a reproachful glare.

As Susan dragged Johnny away by the ear, the group exchanged their final goodbyes before heading off.

After they left, Lydia turned to Aunt May and held out her hand. "Come on, give me your phone."

Aunt May handed it over, and Lydia's fingers flew across the screen before handing it back. "There. My number's saved. If you have any questions or need anything, just text or call."

"Thank you, Lydia," Aunt May said graciously.

Lydia then turned to Madeline. "Have her send you my number too. Same applies to you—I actually had a surprisingly great time. I hope we can do this again."

Then, her gaze landed on Felicia, who was sitting on MJ's lap, her head resting on MJ's shoulder with her arms wrapped around her waist.

"Felicia, you coming?" Lydia asked.

Felicia perked up. "Can I sleep over at MJ's tonight? Please? It's the weekend, so I don't have school!" she pleaded.

"That's not up to me," Lydia pointed out. "And you didn't bring any spare clothes."

"I don't mind sharing," MJ offered. "We're roughly the same size anyway." She glanced at her mother. "Is that okay?"

Madeline smiled. "Sure, I don't see a problem with it."

"Alright then," Lydia nodded. She said her goodbyes—especially to Peter, the birthday boy—before heading out.

After Lydia left, Madeline and Aunt May decided to head back inside while the rest of the group took care of the cleanup.

Gwen and Harry stacked the chairs together, while Uncle Ben and George handled putting away the grill. As Uncle Ben worked, he noticed Peter glance at his watch. A knowing smile spread across his face.

"You got somewhere to be, Pete?" Uncle Ben asked curiously.

"Huh?" Peter blinked in confusion.

Uncle Ben chuckled. "Just asking. The night's still young, after all. I feel bad for hijacking your party. You kids should go out and enjoy yourselves."

Peter hesitated. "I mean… kinda. We do have to meet a teacher of ours, but honestly, I'm reluctant to leave now."

George scoffed. "Normally, I'd be against letting you kids go out this late, but considering who you are, it shouldn't be a problem. Go. Don't worry—we'll handle everything here. Have fun."

Gwen suddenly grabbed Peter's hand and tugged him along. "Quick, let's get out of here while he's being nice before he changes his mind and regrets it!"

George shot his daughter a deadpan look.

Uncle Ben just chuckled. "Go on, you brats. Be kids for once and let the adults handle the cleanup. May's fine—I'll keep an eye on her."

Peter sighed, relenting. "Alright, alright, we'll get going… Come on, guys, let's go."

"Whoop! Whoop! Supersuits, here we come!" Felicia cheered, raising her hands in excitement. "Later, Mr. B! Later, Mr. G!"
