Chapter 49: Chapter-48<*Limit*>
"I hear noises getting closer, ma'am!" one of the soldiers exclaimed as he killed another zombie.
"Let's move faster, the survivors must have heard us!" Yuriko roared as she looked at her troops, "If this goes well, we'll go back to base to take a little breather and continue tomorrow!"
"Hai!" - the soldiers shouted. Although they had just left, this operation had been difficult and stressful enough that the soldiers felt tired.
"Would you mind if I moved on my own?" Cloud asked as he looked at the woman. Even though she was his leader and she recruited him, he had to at least give her enough respect in this world.
"I have no problems" - agreed Yuriko. Ever since she became a recruit, she somewhat understood the great advantage she had over other people in this world. Not only was she getting stronger with every zombie she killed, but her skills were gaining experience as well, to the point that some had leveled up.
Cloud just gave her a smile as she took her sword and gun in hand, "It's party time..."
He felt that he needed a little push in order to break the barrier that was blocking her level up.
"What is he doing?" Saya asked with a frown.
"What every warrior does" - Yuriko said calmly - "Enter the battlefield to be able to overcome"
"I don't understand…" Rei muttered as she shook her head.
"It's because you're not a warrior" - answered Rika as she shook her head with a serious expression - "We need that adrenaline produced in combat to be able to improve. In the middle of the battlefield, it's where we improve the most because the pressure is constant "
"It's like human evolution, Saya-chan"-said Yuriko as she looked at her daughter-"Just as humans need chaos to be able to evolve quickly, a warrior needs the battlefield to unleash his full potential"
"I still don't get it~" -Shizuka said with annoyance as she puffed out her cheeks.
"You don't have to, Shizuka since it's impossible for you to understand with words" - denied the Ace of the Sniper squad - "Just watch... you'll understand when you see him fight"
". . ." - The girls were silent as they watched as the blonde ran towards the zombies with a wild smile.
"Not bad"-Rika agreed upon seeing the blonde's expression, only to turn to look at Yuriko-"Without fear, without hesitation, I have to admit that he is a true soldier... are you sure he had no military training? ?"
"I've known him since he was 5 years old"-denied the yakuza woman-"And he was never taken by a military man, not even a retired one...all he did during this time is train martial arts, target practice and Kenjutsu"
"Hmm... is this what they call natural talent?" Rei wondered as she watched the blonde advance.
* * * * *
"What are you doing here, Cloud-san?" One of the soldiers asked as he watched the blond sprint past him.
"A better question would be why is he running against those things when it's safer to do it from a distance"-said another of the men.
"It's because it's more exciting" -Tora replied as he continued shooting- "Didn't you see his expression? It's the same one Souichiro-sama had when he went in to fight with the other gangs"
"Now that you mention it, it's true" - agreed the soldier - "What do we do?"
"Give him space to do what he wants..." -Tora answered neutrally-"But we will give him support when we see that he is in trouble, we will do the same as we did with Souichiro-sama"
"I have no problem with that" - the two men agreed as they continued shooting, only now they were shooting in another direction.
"Let's have some fun!" The blonde smiled as he looked at his Skills.
[One-Handed Sword Mastery: Lvl 9][Firearms Mastery: Lvl 9][Hand-to-Hand Combat Mastery: Lvl 7]
He was surprised at how much his masteries had leveled up during this short time, though this wasn't surprising knowing that in times of crisis, that's where one unleashes the most potential.
He had been fighting zombies one after another and although he had rested for a long time, he did not stop training his skills.
"Let's see if with this, I can finally reach the limit…" the blonde murmured as he stopped his steps. He slowly looked around and began to count at high speed-"30...maybe 35..."
Some may think that they are few but in truth they were more than enough. The zombies had 3 times the strength of a normal person, which made them deadly dangerous, which made it clear that fighting 35 of those things without help, was a task that not many could accomplish.
In hindsight, the small bet he had had with Saeko was due to the fact that they were both aware of his ally's abilities and fully confident in turning their backs on him. The two swordsmen were aware that the moment one of them took a step, the other would cover the gap left by him/her and protect the partner from him/her.
"Going!" The blonde exclaimed as he began the fight again. With his two-handed sword in his right hand and his pistol in his left, he charged forward at full speed against the zombies who greeted him with a great roar - "ROAR!"
"Let's see how much you can push me to improve!" -exclaimed the blonde as with a quick movement, he cut one of the zombies in half and quickly finished it off with an accurate shot to the forehead- "1 Out... 34 left..."
The zombies quickly launched themselves at the blond, who with quick and precise movements, easily dodged them. At times like this is where the skill [Battle Instinct], he showed the full potential of him.
"2 out…" the blond muttered as his sword penetrated the zombie's heart-"Bang…"
The sound of the shot echoed through the area as a bullet penetrated the zombie's head. finishing it off on the spot.
"You have to do better than that if you want a piece of me…" the blonde said as his gaze sharpened. He could feel his muscles tense slightly as his heart pounded. He had to admit that it felt great to fight like this- "Come on..."
"ROAR!" - The zombies although it seemed incredible, it seemed that they had understood him because now they were attacking with greater precision.
"I wonder if I cut off your head, you'll still be alive..." - asked the blond as he decapitated a zombie, only to notice how it moved for a few seconds before falling limp on the ground - "Hmm... interesting ... 33" left
Cloud quickly took a step to the side because he noticed how a zombie had jumped erratically.
"ROAR!" The zombie roared as he turned around.
"It wasn't such a bad attack" - said the blond who had the gun to the zombie's head.
*Bang!*
"Hmm…I feel like the barrier is breaking…it's still not enough though…" Cloud mumbled as he shook his head, "I guess I'm going to have to put myself in a lot more danger for this to work." "
Cloud again ran in the direction of the zombies while he dodged the attacks that dangerously approached his person.
"Maybe it would be more effective if those things were more intelligent or had the sense of sight" -said the blonde as he decapitated another zombie-"But that would be catastrophic for the other survivors"
* * * * *
"Interesting... that boy is better than I thought" - Rika said as her gaze sharpened upon seeing the blonde's movements - "Even me as a sniper, I would have trouble landing a hit on that blonde... his movements are fast, precise and without any excess... I honestly feel that Cloud is practically a veteran agent of the government, which is strange considering how young he is"
"I also think the same" - Yuriko said while pretending to think - "I would even get a little more conspiracy and say that he is the result of some kind of secret project to create super soldiers... seeing that we are facing zombies, I don't think it's so crazy"
"Let's just leave the crazy theories aside"- Rika denied seriously- "From what I see, he realized that what he is doing doesn't make much sense..."
"What do you mean, Rika-chan?" Shizuka asked as he tilted his head.
"You only have two options left, end all this quickly and wait another moment to break that barrier you have, or put yourself at greater risk and wait for that to be enough" - Rika said seriously - "I did the second , it was during a sniper fight when I went to support Iraq... so that I could feel even more pressure, I showed myself to my enemy and I was constantly moving to make it difficult for my enemy to aim. In the end I did not manage to kill the enemy sniper but at least I could break my barrier"
"That's Hardcore..." - Rei said with surprise.
"As a warrior, there are times when you have to take risks"-Rika said as she looked at the blond in the distance-"Now I'm curious to know what decision he will make"
"Which of the two options is correct?" Saya asked as she looked at the sniper.
"Both are correct" - replied the purple-haired military woman - "There is no wrong answer to that question, it's just that depending on the answer, it is possible to break the barrier sooner or later, although that time... can make a difference ..."
". . ." - Those present were silent as they watched the blonde throw himself directly at the zombies.
"I guess he decided to take a risk too" - the purple-haired woman smiled.
