Chapter 5: Chapter 5: The Title Douluo's Amendment Fee
As a time traveler, Ye Feng clearly remembered that when Yu Xiaogang wanted to accept Tang San as his apprentice, he had mentioned being "persistent." Now, hearing Chen Xin say the same thing, Ye Feng couldn't help but wonder—was Sword Douluo going to take him as his disciple?
"Do you want to teach me martial arts?" Ye Feng asked tentatively, not forgetting that the system had mentioned giving him a Titled Douluo-level master.
As if on cue, Sword Douluo and Ning Fengzhi appeared. Ye Feng couldn't dismiss the idea, especially given the system's previous statement.
"You are smart," Sword Douluo said, his eyes filled with admiration. He was impressed by Ye Feng's sharpness. "Extraordinary talent and such wit. You are the third soul master in a hundred years to have awakened twin martial souls. From this day forward, you are my direct disciple."
Ye Feng, with a mischievous smile, raised an eyebrow. "Will there be an amendment fee for an apprenticeship?" he asked teasingly.
"What?" Sword Douluo stared at him, confused.
"I heard people in the village say that when you become an apprentice, the master gives you an amendment fee. Is that right?" Ye Feng asked with a serious face.
"Amendment fee?" Sword Douluo repeated slowly, still processing the question. His thoughts seemed a bit disoriented.
"No? Maybe it's just a storybook thing?" Ye Feng pouted, casting a doubtful glance at Sword Douluo as if he were disappointed.
Sword Douluo felt a little speechless as he realized Ye Feng's expression was that of someone who might have been led astray. Did Ye Feng think he had to pay for the apprenticeship?
"Uncle Sword, this kid is clever!" Ning Fengzhi couldn't help but laugh, shaking his head at the situation. He looked at Ye Feng with admiration.
As the Sect Master of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile School, Ning Fengzhi knew that many people aspired to be Chen Xin's disciple. Yet they had to beg for an opportunity and still failed. And here was Ye Feng, who had only just met him, asking about a fee right away.
Chen Xin sighed, realizing the situation, but finally relented with a chuckle, "Alright. There will be an amendment fee for the apprenticeship. After accepting you as my disciple, there will naturally be a fee."
"Master, please accept my bow as your disciple." Without hesitation, Ye Feng kneeled on the ground, respectfully bowing three times in a traditional gesture of respect.
"What are you doing?" Sword Douluo asked in surprise, clearly not expecting such a formal display.
"I am showing my respect for my teacher!" Ye Feng replied, his tone full of sincerity.
"You do know that this is the formal etiquette for meeting a king or your biological parents, right? All you need to do is bow to your teacher," Sword Douluo remarked with a rare smile on his face. He could already sense that Ye Feng would become a remarkable disciple, and this gesture gave him a sense of pride.
Ye Feng paused for a moment, then raised his head with a smile. "Heaven and earth, master and disciple. A teacher for a day is a father for life. You should accept my kneeling."
After finishing his words, Ye Feng lowered his head again and kowtowed three times.
Sword Douluo was taken aback but soon waved his hand to lift Ye Feng back to his feet with his soul power.
A moment later, Sword Douluo raised his hand, and a glowing object appeared in front of Ye Feng.
"This is your amendment fee," Sword Douluo said with a hint of pride.
Ye Feng's eyes widened in recognition. He knew exactly what the glowing object was. As a time traveler, he had read about it before.
"That's right, this is the 'Right Arm Bone of Mad Ape Qingtian.' It's a high-quality soul bone with a 9000-year lifespan. It possesses a skill that allows the user to enter a berserk state, increasing attack power by 50%," Sword Douluo explained.
"The Mad Ape Right Arm Bone..." Ye Feng whispered, his mind racing. This soul's bone was precious. Even though it wasn't the rarest, its abilities and lifespan made it highly valuable.
Sword Douluo continued, "Humans can acquire six types of soul bones: head, torso, right arm, left arm, right leg, and left leg. Additionally, there are rare external soul bones. Sit down, and I will guide you through the process of absorbing this soul bone."
"Yes, master." Ye Feng nodded eagerly, his excitement barely contained. He had not only gained a powerful Title Douluo as a teacher but also received a high-quality soul bone as an apprenticeship fee.
Following Jian Daochen's instructions, Ye Feng sat down, taking a few deep breaths to calm his racing thoughts.
As Sword Douluo stood by to monitor the process, Ye Feng absorbed the right arm bone of Mad Ape Qingtian in less than half an hour. As the soul bone fused with his body, Ye Feng felt a surge of explosive energy in his arm, making his strength double in an instant. He dubbed this ability "Double Combat Power."
"Ye Feng, would you like to come back to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School with us?" Sword Douluo asked after a moment.
"No, master. I plan to attend the Elementary Soul Master Academy in Notting City first and learn more about soul masters there," Ye Feng declined. He had his reasons. With his unique system and the benefits he had gained so far, Ye Feng wanted to stay close to Tang San. He believed that by doing so, he could continue to grow stronger and eventually surpass his limits.
If he joined the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School, he would be confined to a fixed path, and Ye Feng didn't want that. He wanted to follow his destiny with Tang San by his side.
Chen Xin, seeing Ye Feng's determination, nodded reluctantly. "I understand. But you must promise me one thing."
"What is it?" Ye Feng asked curiously.
"Before you become a Title Douluo, you must not attach any soul rings to your second martial soul without my permission," Sword Douluo stated seriously.
"Okay, master," Ye Feng agreed without hesitation. He understood the reason behind this request. Chen Xin was concerned about the soul rings Ye Feng would acquire. As a Titled Douluo, his concern was that Ye Feng's second martial soul would attract too many powerful soul rings prematurely, potentially putting him at risk.
Ye Feng paused and then asked teasingly, "But if I can't attach a soul ring to my second martial soul, can I attach one to my third martial soul?"
Both Chen Xin and Ning Fengzhi froze at the question.
"What?" they asked in disbelief.
"You have a third martial soul?" they both echoed in unison, their voices filled with astonishment.
Ye Feng smiled, ready to reveal his secret.
