Sol Vestitor: New Age of God

Chapter 132: Trial Ground

Sol and the others went to the hotel lobby, they were looking for the old man but the old man was not there, a man was there in his place.

"Hi, we are looking for old man Tobi, do you know where he is?" Sol asked the man in the lobby.

"Mr. Toby was going to meet the city lord, he will be back in a few hours, when he gets back I can tell him that you are looking for him," the man said politely.

"Is there anything else I can help you with?" he asked Sol and his friends.

"We would like to extend our stay here by another three days," He said while handing the man the money.

Sol and the other decided to rest first while waiting for the old man to return, Sol himself went to his room to train.

It had been a week since the get into the mini world, he had felt some feedback from his mini-world and pantheon, if he did not overestimate himself, then he would only need a bit more push to ascend to minor demigod.

This little push could only come in the right moment when he got some insight, he could not push it with brute force.

Seeing that he could not train the sun ice further, Sol turned to the knife aura ability. It would be a great boon for him if he could strengthen the ability before going to the trial ground.

After his last bout with the Mad Dog, Sol could certainly say that if he pushes the knife aura further then use the limit-break ability, he would be able to fight a weak minor demigod toe to toe, fighting minor demi-titan might be a bit of a stretch but it also would increase his survival chance.

Sol pulled out his knife and tried to concentrate on the blade, knife aura ability and his armament were interconnected with each other.

The conjuring ability was based upon the armament ability, so Sol believed he could gain some insight by observing the knife.

He tried observing the knife without the aura, then with a little aura on it, he tried to increase the aura bit by bit, but there was nothing new he learned from it.

"Was I wrong? Should I try another way?" he thought.

Sol ended up dismissing the aura and back with the plain knife, he tried to cut an ice block that he conjured with it, the knife grew sharper and sharper each time it cut the ice block.

He felt like he almost got something from it but he could not really grasp it, "Ugh... Should I do something more direct and daring?" he thought.

Rather than cutting a block of ice, he cut his own palm with the knife so he could observe it more than just with his eyes but also with his own body.

In the first cut, he could feel something but it was so faint that he could not really describe what it was.

He cut a few more times on his palm, he suppressed his natural healing ability so the wound would not close on its own, Sol compared each wound, although he tried to cut with the same depth, Sol found them different from each other.

Each consecutive wound has something more than the previous wound, it was a residue of some kind of energy.

"Hmm? Is this what made the blade sharper?" he speculated on the residue.

He tried to find the energy on the knife but he could not find it no matter what, the knife was clean of such substances.

Sol tried to cut his palm again but slowly, he tried to find out what happened when it cut through his palm.

The substance that was already in his body, resonance with his knife, made the blade go deeper and become sharper, the cut would get another charge of residue once the knife connected.

"So this is how the knife works! No wonder it reset for different targets," Sol got a realization.

"What If I could collect this residue, as long as I can collect some part of it then the knife would be sharper than before each time I use it, it would not get to zero again each time!" he thought.

Putting that aside, he also got another insight about his knife aura ability, all this time he could only conjure them on his body and weapon, what if he can conjure them inside his enemy, would it allow him to conjure more aura faster? Will it slow his enemy while making their attack dull? Or maybe it would work like the residue from his knife?

Sol needed to test this theory before coming to a conclusion, as he could not ask his teammates to be his training partner, he went with another solution.

He conjured both knife aura and sun ice and channeled the ability to his sword, resulting in the knife to form a core for the knife soul.

Knife soul was summoned right in front of him, the crystal woman looked at him waiting for instruction.

"Don't move I need to do some experiment," Sol explained the situation as the knife soul's A.I. was advanced enough to understand what he wanted.

Rather than adding his knife aura to the knife soul to strengthen it, Sol tried to conjure it on its body to slow its movement.

His experiment ended in a failure, the knife soul did not get slower but it let him know that he could actually conjure it inside others.

There was a restriction tho, Sol would need to be at a meter distance from his target before he could conjure the aura inside them.

He conjured a normal ice spear and tried to hit the knife soul with the spear to check if the knife aura would resonate with his weapon and allow it to be sharper.

The result was another failure, it did not allow Sol to pierce the knife soul body with greater strength or sharper edge.

"What am I missing?" he thought to himself.

"Should I conjure the knife aura on my body as well? He speculated as it might be the key.

Sol conjured a little amount of knife aura in his body and tried to use the spear to hit the knife soul again.

To his surprise, both knife aura were attracted to each other, but his little amount of aura was getting pulled toward the knife soul's aura.

As a result, he lost his increased speed and sharpness while the knife soul did not gain anything.

Sol tried once more but this time he conjured more knife aura on his body so the amount surpassed the amount in the knife soul's body.

When he hit the knife soul again, both aura started to attract each other again, the knife soul's aura got pulled to Sol's body and it increased his speed and sharpness.

But what surprised him was the knife soul's speed decreased and its attack power decayed when the knife aura left its body.

"This is it!" Sol said as he gained insight from this experiment, he could see a lot more possibility, with this he could beat someone who was stronger than himself as long as he had the time to use his ability.

The insight pushed his proficiency with the conjuring ability to the point it was on par with the sun ice ability, it could not get stronger anymore unless there was a right opportunity to advance.

Sol felt satisfaction from his gain, he got confident to reach minor demigod with both abilities once he got into the trial ground.

He was still gathering his thoughts when a knock was heard from his door, "Sol, the old man is back," Tom's voice sounded from outside.

Sol hurriedly went outside to meet the other lesser demigod, "Where is Tea?" he asked them.

"She said she is going to train by herself outside of the city," Jennie explained to Sol.

The other was resting and chatting with each other while Sol trained so he got left out of their talk.

"Anyway, let's meet the old man," Harry hurried them down to meet the old man.

The four of them went down to be met by a waiting old man, he looked at them with a measuring eye.

"the city lord had told me that you are going to train in the mini world, what do you want with me?" the old man questioned them.

"There is something I want to ask you," Sol said, "Is the mini-world really ownerless? How sure are you about it?" he asked the old man.

"Hmm... To be honest with you, that mini-world was owned by Jupiter, but he had abandoned it a thousand years ago in the underworld and never visited ever since.

"Jupiter!?" Sol was alarmed, "Won't he notice us?" he asked.

After some thought, Sol decides to go in there, if it was really Jupiter's mini world, then the God would not make a problem for them as they were sent by him.
