So I'm John Lawrence's son

Chapter 14: Chapter 14"A Classic for Life

Jack woke up early that day. The sun hadn't yet fully risen, but he was already up and eager to carry out his plan: to get his driver's license. At 15 years old, emancipated and with a fat bank account thanks to the inheritance left by his mother, he had the freedom and resources necessary to achieve this independence. He put on his favorite black t-shirt and his worn-out denim jacket and left the house, taking with him the documents that his mother had helped him organize before she passed away.

The Driving Test

At the DMV, Jack sat in the waiting room, watching the other applicants. Most were older than he was, and some seemed nervous, biting their nails and drumming their fingers on their legs. He, on the other hand, was calm and confident. Driving was nothing new to him. His mother, with her infinite patience, had taught him how to do it a few years ago, in an old car she kept in an abandoned parking lot. He remembered her words fondly: "Driving is like fighting, Jack. You have to be alert, always in control, anticipating other people's moves and reacting quickly and accurately."

When his name was called, Jack followed the examiner to the car. It was a nondescript sedan, nothing special, but he knew that the real test was his skill, not the vehicle. The examiner, a burly, middle-aged man with a gray mustache, adjusted the rearview mirror and asked in a husky voice, "Ready, kid?" Jack replied with a confident half-smile, "Always."

The test began. Jack maneuvered the car with precision, as if he were dancing with it, shifting gears smoothly and keeping the speed within the established limit. He parallel parked with surprising ease, as if he had done it hundreds of times before, avoided imaginary obstacles with the agility of a cat, and even handled a simulated "emergency situation" with enviable calm. The examiner was writing something down on his clipboard, but Jack did not let himself be distracted, concentrating on the task at hand.

After a few tense minutes, the examiner handed Jack his provisional driver's license with a neutral expression. "Congratulations, kid. You're a great driver. But remember, caution is essential in traffic. Drive carefully and responsibly." Jack looked at the document with a sparkle in his eyes, feeling a twinkle of pride. It was another step towards his independence, a symbol of his freedom.

With his driver's license in his pocket, Jack decided it was time to buy his first car. He had done some research online and knew that Larusso Auto was one of the best dealerships in the area, with an impeccable reputation and a wide range of models. When he got there, he was impressed by how busy the place was, with several gleaming cars displayed in the yard, like jewels waiting to be discovered.

It was then that Amanda LaRusso spotted him. She was dressed in a smart business attire, holding a tablet, and approached with a warm smile that exuded friendliness and professionalism. "Can I help you?" she asked, looking at Jack curiously. He replied with a shy smile, "I'm looking for a car. Something reliable, something that will get me where I need to go, and something that looks good."

Amanda studied Jack for a moment, noting his confident posture, his green eyes that seemed to carry stories and the denim jacket that gave him an air of rebellion. "You seem to know what you want," she said, her tone gentle. "Let's take a look at our available models."

She led him to a corner of the showroom, where a classic, imposing car stood out from the crowd. It was a black 1967 Chevrolet Impala with a sleek, timeless design. "This one's a classic," Amanda said, a twinkle in her eye. "A '67 Impala. It's a rare car, hard to find in good condition. But if you're willing to invest a little more, you'll have a car that will last a lifetime."

Jack was delighted with the car. He remembered seeing a model just like the one in the Supernatural series. "Amazing, I never thought I would see a car like that around here," he said, with an admiring tone of voice.

Amanda smiled. "I see you have good taste in cars," she said, noticing the gleam in Jack's eyes as he admired the Impala. "And from what I understand, money is no object for you, right?"

Jack smiled back, embarrassed. "Let's just say I have some resources," he replied, avoiding going into details about his fortune.

Amanda nodded, understanding that he didn't want to talk about his personal life. "How about we take it for a test drive?" she suggested, reaching for the car keys.

Jack eagerly accepted, and the two went for a spin in the Impala. During the test drive, Amanda could see Jack's passion for cars and his skill behind the wheel. She was happy to see how happy he was driving the classic car, and she imagined how wonderful it would be to have a son like him.

Back at the dealership, Jack decided to buy the Impala without hesitation. Amanda helped him with the paperwork, explaining every detail of the contract with patience and professionalism. As they discussed the terms of the purchase, Amanda couldn't help but notice the sparkle in Jack's eyes and the smile of satisfaction he couldn't hide. She felt touched by Jack's happiness...

"Congratulations, Jack," Amanda said with a sincere smile. "You made a great choice. This car is a classic that will bring you a lot of joy."

Jack thanked Amanda for her help and took the keys to the Impala, feeling a mixture of pride and nostalgia. He sat in the driver's seat, took a deep breath, and started the car, leaving the dealership with a smile on his face. As he drove through the streets of Reseda, he felt the wind blow in his face, and a sense of freedom washed over him, as if he could finally chart his own course.
