Skyrim System In Westeros

Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Sleeping Dragon

Sealord Ferrego noticed the new faces in the observer seats and nodded to Qarro Volentin.

Qarro Volentin, who had been standing one step behind the Sealord, spoke, "I am Qarro Volentin, the current head of the Braavos First Sword and the Sealord's bodyguard. This is Ronald Connington, cousin of the former Hand Of The King of the Seven Kingdoms, Jon Connington. And this is his son, Ronnet Connington, also known as Red Ronnet."

Ronald Connington remained silent at the main table, while his son, Ronnet Connington, stood from the observer seats and nodded to the others.

Qarro Volentin continued, introducing another figure at the table: "This is Ser Myles Toyne, a captain-general of the Golden Company, and behind him is Lysono Maar, the Golden Company's intelligence officer."

Myles Toyne, who had a grotesque appearance with a crooked jaw, large ears, and a big nose, sat at the main table, smiling and nodding at everyone. Lysono Maar stood from the observer seats, performing a noble bow to the others.

Oberyn glanced at Lysono Maar, noting his striking violet eyes and platinum-colored long hair, which was very much a typical Valyrian look. He also wore purple nail polish and adorned himself with pearl and amethyst earrings. Upon his stand, Oberyn initially mistook him for a woman but quickly realized, seeing the flat chest and Adam's apple, that Lysono was, in fact, a man. Oberyn became intrigued.

Qarro Volentin continued with the introductions, pointing to another corpulent figure at the table: "This is Illyrio Mopatis, Magister of Pentos."

Illyrio grinned widely, showing a set of uneven yellow teeth, and waved at everyone. He had risen from humble beginnings and was very skilled in socializing.

Qarro Volentin added, "And this is Prince Viserys Targaryen."

"Hmph\~"

Viserys Targaryen, clearly displeased with the introduction, turned his head away, leaving only the back of his platinum-colored hair visible to the group.

Oberyn had nearly finished his apple. "This is my squire, Ser Daemon Sand."

Daemon Sand also stood and greeted the others. Oberyn had brought him to meet so many important figures, especially the one named Viserys Targaryen. If he was who he claimed to be, then the people present were likely planning something monumental. Daemon felt both excited and nervous about being involved.

The introductions were now complete, and Qarro Volentin stepped back to resume his role as the Sealord's bodyguard.

At the main table: Sealord Ferrego Antaryon of Braavos, Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne, Ser Myles Toyne, captain-general of the Golden Company, Illyrio Mopatis, Magister of Pentos, Ronald Connington from Westeros, and Prince Viserys Targaryen. Six people in total, with Varys absent and one deceased.

In the audience seats: Oberyn's squire Ser Daemon Sand, Golden Company's intelligence officer Lysono Maar, and "Red Ronnet" Ronnet Connington, three in total.

Ser Myles Toyne, the Golden Company's captain-general, slammed his hand on the table, looking at the group. "Aside from the late Ser Willem Darry and the absent Varys, everyone is here. There's just one matter: Wright Baratheon has arrived in Braavos and is now staying at the Sealord's palace. How should we deal with him?"

Viserys, holding a wine cup, looked out the window without meeting anyone's gaze and spoke first. "What else is there to do? Just kill him."

The room fell silent. No one responded.

Lysono Maar, as the Golden Company's intelligence officer, spoke up. "According to the information Lord Varys sent earlier, Wright Baratheon does possess supernatural powers. However, he has only seen records from the maesters, not witnessed it firsthand. He told us to be cautious in dealing with him."

Sealord Ferrego responded, "Wright is King Robert's younger brother. If he dies here in Braavos for no reason, I'll be the one shouldering the blame for the war and compensation?"

Ser Myles Toyne of the Golden Company chuckled, "You, Sealord, have plenty of money. Compensation should be easy."

Ferrego immediately glared at him. "You lot are conspiring to restore the Targaryens. I'm just a witness! After the restoration, the benefits are all yours, while I take all the blame in the case of failing? What do you think I am?"

Viserys perked up at the mention of restoration. "I—"

Before he could finish, Ronald Connington cut in. "If Wright is coming here, he must first ensure he can't find the Targaryen siblings. Varys warned you all a long time ago. Why are they still here?"

Sealord Ferrego replied, "Which of the nine trade cities is the safest? Only Braavos!"

The economic and military strength of Braavos was well-known to all present, but they wanted Ferrego to say it out loud and make a commitment.

Oberyn spoke up. "First of all, if Wright doesn't discover them during his time in Braavos, this issue will pass."

Ferrego added, "The Palace Of Truth is surrounded by water, with only two bridges connecting it. I'll have the guards seal off the bridges and tell Wright that important matters are being discussed inside. He shouldn't be able to get in."

Viserys stood up and shouted, "Are you going to lock me up here like a criminal?"

Viserys turned to Oberyn and said, "Kill the traitor from House Baratheon, and then we march to Westeros to restore the throne!"

Oberyn casually picked up a bunch of grapes, plucked one from the stem, and put it in his mouth. "When we made our agreement, it was for you to lead the troops to retake Westeros. After marrying my brother's daughter, Princess Arianna, only then would Dorne send its armies. We weren't supposed to send troops first, you've forgotten?"

"I haven't forgotten," Viserys said, sitting down. He knew he had no forces to mount an offensive on Westeros.

Right now, his only army was the Golden Company, and even they numbered less than ten thousand, counting logistics. The actual fighting force was even smaller.

The noblemen of Westeros who had promised to join in were nothing but opportunists. If Viserys' power grew, they would join him. If Robert's power remained strong, they would have Viserys captured and take credit for his defeat.

Ronald Connington spoke up, "Isn't Braavos most famous for the Faceless Men? We could hire them to assassinate Wright."

Illyrio Mopatis, the Governor of Pentos, chimed in, "Good idea! The Faceless Men rarely fail. Even if they do, they'll send more assassins and never reveal the employer's identity. The cost is high, though."

The others remained silent, watching him.

Illyrio sighed, "Alright, I'll contribute to the restoration plan. I'll cover the cost of hiring the Faceless Men."

Ser Myles added, "As for us, all of our soldiers are in the city, except for the stable hands and logistics. If you, Sealord, allow us to fight in the city, the Golden Company brothers will tear the Baratheon boy to pieces."

Ferrego thought for a moment. "Let's hold off on the Golden Company for now."

Viserys, hearing the discussions, noticed more and more people entering the meeting. He opened his arms and passionately spoke to the room. "You are all loyal ministers and allies of House Targaryen. Before we restore the throne, let's first kill the Baratheon boy as a tribute! Let the traitors of House Baratheon feel the wrath of the Dragon King!"

After a respectful bow, everyone left the meeting room without responding to him.
