Chapter 43: The Third Person Back Then – Uchiha Madara?
"Hm, Sasuke learned quite a lot from Orochimaru, it seems. But knowing that guy, it's strange... He shouldn't have made things so easy for Sasuke," Jiraiya muttered, staring at the celestial projection with a puzzled expression.
He knew Orochimaru all too well. That man would have likely trained Sasuke to claim his body later. Sasuke, in his desperation for power, had played into Orochimaru's hands.
But something about it didn't make sense.
Orochimaru's previous experiments had all ended in failure. His "test subjects" were left half-dead or utterly monstrous. And now... Orochimaru had essentially raised a successor?
Jiraiya couldn't wrap his head around it.
[Sasuke quickly formed hand signs, channeling his chakra to conjure a Chidori. To Itachi's surprise, Sasuke slammed the Chidori into the thick floor beneath them.]
[Zzzt—!]
["Chidori Stream!"]
[The Chidori's lightning surged into the ground, spreading rapidly toward Itachi. But Itachi remained calm, leaping effortlessly to avoid the attack.]
[However…]
[From above, Sasuke was already waiting on the ceiling, gripping his Kusanagi sword. With a wicked grin, he drove the blade straight through Itachi's chest!]
The shinobi world stared at the scene, stunned.
In such a short time, Sasuke had executed a nearly flawless plan.
As expected of a prodigy from the Uchiha Clan!
"Wait... was that it? Is Itachi defeated already? That quickly?"
"This doesn't feel right. Something about this seems... fake."
"I swear, if I was there, even I could've done that!"
["You've gotten stronger…"]
[Sasuke stood above Itachi, his Kusanagi sword still impaled in his chest. His voice was calm as he spoke, "Before you die, there's something I need to ask you, Itachi."]
[Itachi, still expressionless, raised his hand and pointed to the side.]
[Sasuke's eyes widened. Following Itachi's gesture, he turned to see Itachi sitting calmly on his throne-like stone seat, his posture unchanged from the start. The Itachi he had stabbed dissolved into a flock of crows.]
["So it's your specialty, genjutsu," Sasuke remarked, his voice even.]
["You want to ask me something? Go ahead. It's not yet time, but I'll listen," Itachi replied, his tone flat.]
[Sasuke narrowed his eyes and repeated, "I'll ask again…"]
[Thud!]
[The Kusanagi sword shot forward, piercing through the stone throne and impaling Itachi once again. A flicker of pain crossed Itachi's face.]
[But when Sasuke looked closely, his own form transformed into a white snake and vanished.]
["You idiot," Sasuke's voice echoed. "This is what I really wanted to say before you died."]
"Genjutsu? So everything we've seen so far... was all an illusion?"
"When did it start? How did we not notice a thing?"
"Uchiha and their Sharingan... seriously overpowered. This is so confusing!"
"Wait, what if this is another genjutsu?"
"Wow, Sasuke-kun is amazing!"
In Konoha, Sasuke's fangirls erupted into cheers. Watching him outmaneuver and outthink Itachi only added to their admiration.
"He's not just good-looking—he's so powerful too! Truly a genius!"
"Using genjutsu at this level… That kid is impressive," Ōnoki, the Third Tsuchikage, remarked, his eyes narrowing as he focused on Itachi.
To him, the Itachi impaled by Sasuke wasn't real—not a clone, either, but another layer of genjutsu.
Executing such flawless illusions, even while being observed by countless shinobi across the world, was a testament to Itachi's mastery.
"A true genius of genjutsu," Ōnoki declared with grudging respect.
"Grandpa, what are you talking about?" Kurotsuchi asked, confused. "Wasn't Itachi stabbed? It looked real to me."
"Don't just look at the surface. That Uchiha... he deceived everyone's eyes without a single sound or sign," Ōnoki explained.
"So you're saying... it was all an illusion?"
Ninjas who specialized in genjutsu and even Kage-level shinobi across the nations watched the scene with a mix of awe and frustration.
As expected of Uchiha Itachi, a prodigy among prodigies.
[Sasuke stared at Itachi, his thoughts drifting back to that night—the night of their separation and hatred.]
["If you unlock the Mangekyō, then you'll be the third…"]
["That would give you a purpose to live..."]
[Sasuke's jaw tightened as he remembered those words. His voice was cold as he demanded, "The third person… the one with the Sharingan... who is it?"]
[Itachi's expression remained blank. "Why do you want to know?"]
["Tell me now, or you'll feel the pain in your chest for eternity!" Sasuke growled, his tone icy. "Who... is that person?"]
[After a pause, Itachi spoke, recounting the events of that fateful night—the Uchiha massacre, and the accomplice who had helped him.]
["It was... Uchiha Madara."]
The shinobi world erupted in shock. Eyes wide, people stared at the projection, unable to believe what they had just heard.
"Madara?! Uchiha Madara?! Are they serious?!"
"No way... Uchiha Madara's been dead for decades! This has to be a joke!"
"If Itachi's making up excuses, he should've come up with something more believable!"
Hiruzen Sarutobi: "Let me clarify. As far as I know, Uchiha Madara cannot be alive."
Ōnoki: "Hah, says you! Who knows what you Konoha folks are hiding?"
Fourth Raikage: "You want to start a war, old man?!"
The revelation sent shockwaves through the world.
Uchiha Madara—the man who had once terrorized the shinobi world alongside the legendary Hashirama Senju—was possibly alive?
The implications were staggering. Madara's mere name was enough to strike fear into the hearts of nations. His strength was so great that only the "God of Shinobi," Hashirama, could stop him.
"Uchiha Madara? The ancestor of the Uchiha Clan?" Sasuke muttered.
He had heard tales of Madara from his parents. He felt a faint sense of awe at the name but that's all.
