Chapter 19: Gamabunta vs. The One-Tail Shukaku
As the massive toad loomed on the battlefield, Jiraiya chuckled, looking at the towering figure below. "Gamabunta, it seems your meeting with Naruto was meant to be."
"Hmph! Don't get cocky, Jiraiya. I haven't fully accepted this brat yet. Not even close!" Gamabunta grumbled, his tone proud and dismissive.
"Hahaha! But you're my summoning toad now, right?" Naruto, perched on Gamabunta's back, laughed with excitement, his face lighting up with pure joy.
Having such a powerful ally made him feel invincible.
"Kid, I didn't agree to anything," Gamabunta huffed. "But if you agree to become my underling, I might just take you in."
"What? Why do I have to be your underling?!" Naruto protested, his face scrunched in frustration.
"If you say no, then don't bother trying to summon me again."
"Ugh, fine! Whatever you say," Naruto sighed in defeat, shrugging his shoulders.
"That's more like it," Gamabunta replied smugly.
"Listen up, kid. If you're ever in trouble, call me. As your boss, I'll show up and sort things out. Got it?"
With that, a loud poof echoed as Gamabunta dispelled the summoning and returned to Mount Myōboku. The ground beneath Naruto vanished, and he began to fall.
Jiraiya quickly grabbed Naruto midair and landed gracefully on the ground.
The entire ninja world was in awe as they stared at the massive toad on the screen.
They knew about the legendary summoning beasts of Mount Myōboku, but only one man was known to summon them—Jiraiya, one of the legendary Sannin.
"Gamabunta... that's Jiraiya's summoning beast," whispered Tsunade, startled as she watched from a gambling den, her face paling with shock.
Even Orochimaru, with his ever-cunning smile, seemed surprised. His eyes lingered on Sasuke, however, ignoring Naruto entirely.
"Sasuke-kun..." Orochimaru's interest lay firmly in the Uchiha and the curse mark that continued to grow stronger.
"That's Gamabunta? The legendary toad? He's enormous!"
"His size alone rivals that of a tailed beast. I'm starting to believe Naruto might actually stand a chance against Gaara and Shukaku."
"Wait, didn't Naruto run out of chakra? How could he summon something this big? Can someone explain?"
"Don't ask. Just remember—this is Naruto we're talking about. The Nine-Tails' jinchūriki. Logic doesn't apply."
"Is the Nine-Tails really that powerful?"
"Of course! It took the Fourth Hokage's life to seal it. You tell me if it's strong!"
On the battlefield, after an intense argument, Gamabunta glared at Shukaku with his wide toad eyes. He hefted his giant sword and snorted. "Hold on tight! I'm going in!"
With a powerful leap, Gamabunta soared through the air, landing right in front of Shukaku in a matter of seconds.
Naruto clung tightly to Gamabunta's back, eventually crawling up to his head to avoid falling off.
Before Shukaku could react, Gamabunta swung his massive sword, slashing at Shukaku's arm.
Although the blade struck true, Shukaku's defense as a tailed beast was incredible. Gamabunta grunted, struggling as the resistance caused his sword to tremble.
With a final push, Gamabunta managed to sever Shukaku's arm. The massive limb disintegrated into sand and merged back into the earth. However, the force of the attack sent Gamabunta's sword flying out of his hands.
Boom!
The impact of the falling blade sent tremors through the mountains, shattering rocks and leaving massive craters. Sasuke and the others, hiding in the forest, covered their ears to shield themselves from the deafening noise.
"How is this possible? Naruto's fighting on this level?"
"That's the same Naruto we used to call a loser?"
Even Ino, who had always underestimated Naruto, was speechless. She could hardly believe the boy she knew was standing against a tailed beast.
"This is the same Naruto we always made fun of?"
The sheer scale of the battle left everyone in shock. Mountains were scarred with craters, and forests were obliterated by the collateral damage.
This wasn't a ninja's fight—it was a clash of monsters.
In the hospital, Lee, despite his injuries, was brimming with energy. He shouted out the window, "Go, Naruto-kun! You can do it!"
Kiba yelled just as loudly. "Yeah, Naruto! Beat that tanuki! Show them Konoha genin aren't pushovers!"
Even Hinata whispered, "Y-You can do it, Naruto-kun..." her cheeks flushed with emotion.
Sasuke clenched his fists, his pride wounded as he watched Naruto display strength beyond his own. "That idiot... how did he get this strong?"
Meanwhile, Konoha villagers whispered among themselves.
"Is that fox going to turn on us?"
"Will he seek revenge on the village?"
"You're overthinking it. We have the Hokage."
Others, however, were more critical.
"How could a child be treated like that? This is what Konoha's become? Shameful."
"If I were Naruto, I'd have left Konoha already. Why stay where you're hated?"
"Naruto! Come to Kumogakure! We'll treat you right. Killer B-sama can even help you control the Nine-Tails!"
"Or come to Kirigakure. You'd be made Mizukage in no time!"
In a dark corner of the village, Danzo smirked. "Hiruzen, I've told you before—the Nine-Tails jinchūriki should be under my control. Only I can unlock its full potential."
"Your softness will ruin us all," he muttered ominously.
As Naruto watched the messages flood the sky, his eyes welled up. For so long, he had been hated and isolated. Now, for the first time, he felt truly acknowledged.
"Uzumaki Naruto..." Gaara muttered as he stared at the screen and the words of hate and encouragement alike.
He couldn't help but compare himself to Naruto—their lonely, painful lives were so similar.
But their paths had diverged completely.
On the battlefield, Gaara finally fell into his slumber, activating the full power of the One-Tail.
Shukaku's presence was overwhelming. Even Gamabunta struggled to hold his ground, narrowly dodging attacks.
"Wind Style: Air Bullet!"
"Water Style: Liquid Bullet!"
Shukaku fired a massive air blast from his swollen belly, while Gamabunta countered with an enormous water bullet.
The clash of their techniques destroyed everything around them, as if a violent storm had torn through the land. Entire forests disappeared, and mountains were scarred beyond recognition.
"This... is a battle between monsters," someone murmured, their voice trembling.
The sheer scale of destruction left the ninja world breathless.
They remembered something crucial: Naruto was only 12 years old.
"A twelve-year-old genin? This?!"
