She Is Not a Witch

10: The Forest Cottage

Loranhil placed her hand on the tree trunk and closed her eyes. Instantly, her consciousness entered a magical world.

The flowing Mana in the soil, atmosphere, and rivers appeared clearly in her mind, swirling through the forest, so concentrated. The constantly gathering Mana would normally trigger various supernatural phenomena, such as light, flames, or creature evolution.

But under the influence of the Amber Red Leaf Maple’s ability, it became calm and restrained, contained within this forest without recklessly leaking out. This was probably why this giant tree hadn’t been discovered by others for so many years.

Under the influence of [Deep Crimson Reflection], the Mana was very easy to manipulate, stable, and not prone to random outbursts. This place would be greatly advantageous for beginners to practice or for alchemy and potion-making.

As her consciousness followed the Mana flow up the great tree, Loranhil sensed the root of the problem.

Perhaps due to being too stable, the continuously settling Mana had condensed inside the tree, eventually blocking the tiny tubes that transport nutrients and water. An ordinary large tree would have crystallized and died long ago in this state.

But this tree had been able to use its branches and leaves to absorb water and nutrients, barely sustaining itself for a few hundred years. However, the nutrition and water obtained this way were limited after all, and even a supernatural sequence giant tree was approaching its limit.

If Loranhil hadn’t appeared, in about 1-2 years, this tree would have truly withered and fully crystallized, becoming an amber tree.

Understanding the situation, Loranhil withdrew her hand and lay in the red sea of flowers, pondering how to solve this problem.

For a blockage, naturally, it needed to be guided and cleared.

For some reason, she suddenly thought of her classmates from the water supply and drainage engineering major back in college. The two majors were rivals during school days, but ended up crying together over drinks at graduation.

The clear blue sky, wisps of clouds drifting by, watching maple leaves falling from the tree crown, Loranhil caught a red leaf and suddenly had an idea.

She placed her palm on the tree trunk and began to use the [Harmonizing Treatment] ability.

——Harmonizing Treatment, Activate

——Basic Structure, Analyze

——Mana Analysis, Complete

——Crystal Frequency, Detect

——Vibration Synchronization, Begin

——Mana Crystals, Shatter

——Guide Flow, Clear

——Branches and Fruits, Concentrate

The huge supernatural red maple tree began to vibrate slightly, reflecting brilliant light from within its trunk. Then the Mana crystals inside continuously shattered, and this energy was constantly concentrated into the branches and leaves of the tree crown, forming numerous orange, semi-transparent fruits.

Finally, the blocked Mana crystals in the trunk were completely cleared, with the vast majority transformed and condensed into orange fruits hanging on the tree.

These fruits were crystal clear, each about the size of a fist, emitting a faint glow in the evening forest, like small hanging night lights.

The remaining Mana was absorbed by the tree itself, used to repair damage and grow new branches and leaves.

It worked, haha.

Looking at the great tree now adorned with small orange lanterns, Loranhil sensed its joyful emotions and laughed happily herself.

With the isolation and protection of [Maple Leaf Illusion], this maple forest was truly a perfect place to live.

Thinking this, Loranhil tried communicating with the great tree and received a very agreeable and happy response.

Then the tree roots at the base began to grow, forming a small house about 5 meters high with encircling brown roots.

However, being a tree, its ideas were simple, and the small house looked crooked and twisted, lacking architectural aesthetics in the girl’s view.

I’d better do it myself.

The next day, in the red maple forest.

“Zephyr!”

With the girl’s clear shout.

Sharp wind blades cut through a red maple tree, and a large branch fell. Then a few more wind blades, under Loranhil’s precise perception, cut a 2-meter thick branch into smooth, even wooden planks.

The gentle breeze originally meant to calm living beings had become a wind scythe capable of taking lives in the girl’s hands. Not only that, she even considered using it to fell trees, cut boards, peel bark, and even trim nails.

It could only be said that her innate talent boost was too powerful, or perhaps, a sharp blade edge can indeed make others calm down more quickly.

Then, following the same method, she produced some smooth wooden cylinders. These trees, nurtured in concentrated Mana, were of astonishingly good quality.

The grain was straight and the structure fine, with a golden thread and silk-like luster in the sunlight, along with a faint fragrance.

Observed through the system, it was [Red Maple Wood] (Quality 210~240, Rating: Rare Silver Grade)

If using branches from the Amber Red Leaf Maple, it would be different: [Amber Red Maple Wood] (Quality 410~460, Rating: Perfect Pearl Grade).

Then the house-building began. Although she hadn’t studied civil engineering in her past life, she had at least seen how it was done.

Laying the foundation should be the first step, right?

First, she drove several thick wooden piles into the ground, adjusting them level. Then she built the frame, and on top of that, set up wooden planks to form the floor of the house.

The outer circle was wooden pillars for load-bearing.

The floor built on the wooden piles was half a meter above the ground.

It certainly couldn’t be built directly on the ground, as rainwater would flow in and it would easily become damp.

After construction, she secured it with wooden pegs, then made the pegs grow, thus locking everything together and making it very sturdy.

Finally, a dome-shaped wooden house of over 100 square meters was built, somewhat resembling a witch’s cottage from fairy tales.

Inside, the center was a circular hall that could be used for receiving guests or as a dining room. Around it were several rooms: one with a fireplace for cooking or barbecuing, which could also be used for warmth in winter.

An adjacent room served as a bedroom for rest. Another room was made into a laboratory for future research in alchemy, potion-making, and crafting some supernatural tools. The last room was used as a storage room for food and all other items.

Between the roof above and the first-floor ceiling, a small attic was formed, which could be used to store miscellaneous items or for other purposes.

For lighting, she used the fruits of the Amber Red Leaf Maple. Like orange transparent jewels, each about the size of a fist. Even Loranhil felt it was a bit of an overkill to use them for lighting, but it was just too convenient at the moment.

[Amber Fruit] (Quality 450~480, Rating: Perfect Coral Grade): Fruits condensed by the Amber Red Leaf Maple, containing enormous energy. Due to the influence of the Amber Red Leaf Maple’s own abilities, the magic within is very gentle. It can be used as an extremely rare panacea, or in alchemy and potion-making. Its gentle nature can act as a neutralizer, allowing many materials with conflicting properties to merge. Additionally, the magic contained within emits an orange glow.

Finally, the great work was completed, taking nearly three days.

As Loranhil was about to celebrate by roasting some fish, a familiar figure appeared in the girl’s perception, about 10 kilometers away. The young man named Pullman was leaning on a crutch, looking very disheveled, limping through the mountains searching for something.
