Sharingan Evolution: Proficiency's Path

Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Successful Capture

Several minutes later, deep within a forest.

A low shout suddenly echoed through the air. "Wind Release: Great Sickle Weasel Technique!"

A fierce windstorm swept through, uprooting the surrounding trees. Sharp vacuum blades flew in every direction, carving deep trenches into the ground. Within the eye of the storm, a figure flickered rapidly, dodging the blades coming from all sides.

This figure was none other than Seimei.

Earlier, in a moment of recklessness, he had fallen into Safeng's trap and was now caught within the enemy's ninjutsu. He could only look for an opportunity to escape.

But before Seimei could make much headway, Safeng's familiar voice rang out once more: "I've trapped you. Do you think I'll let you leave so easily? Fire Release: Explosive Fire Technique! Burn him to ashes!"

"What? Fire Release!?" Seimei's expression changed drastically. He immediately activated his Sharingan, pushing himself to escape.

However, no matter how fast he moved, he couldn't outrun the rapidly spreading flames.

Fire feeds wind, and wind intensifies fire. The combination of Safeng's Wind Release: Great Sickle Weasel Technique and Fire Release: Explosive Fire Technique unleashed destructive power far beyond what either could achieve alone. Clearly, this was one of Safeng's trump cards.

And it was working.

"No—!" Seimei roared in frustration as the flames engulfed him.

Outside the range of the ninjutsu, Safeng leaned on his three-star fan, panting heavily. His eyes remained fixed on the flames consuming Seimei. "Did it work?" he muttered to himself.

"Did it work? Heh..."

Before Safeng could catch his breath, Seimei's cold laughter echoed through the air, accompanied by the sharp whistle of a sword cutting through the wind.

An overwhelming sense of danger flooded Safeng's mind. Instinctively, he dodged to the side.

Thud!

The sound of a blade piercing flesh rang out.

Seimei's short sword had stabbed through Safeng's left arm.

In an instant, Seimei channeled Fire Release chakra into his blade and flicked it upward, severing half of Safeng's arm. The air filled with the acrid stench of burning flesh, causing Seimei to wrinkle his nose in disgust.

Safeng, clutching his mangled arm, retreated quickly. He only stopped after staggering back several meters. Through gritted teeth, he asked, "That was a Shadow Clone? When did you replace yourself?"

Clearly, Safeng was asking when Seimei had swapped his real body with a clone.

But Seimei wasn't interested in chatting. In a flash, he appeared in front of Safeng once again.

With half his arm missing, Safeng's combat abilities were severely diminished. Unable to form hand signs, he could only rely on taijutsu and the rudimentary wind-based chakra techniques of his three-star fan.

Unfortunately for him, none of it worked against Seimei.

In less than two minutes, Seimei found an opening to use his Genjutsu: Sharingan for the first time, successfully controlling Safeng.

After that, everything was easy. Seimei knocked Safeng unconscious and used his Chakra Absorption Technique to drain the remaining chakra from Safeng's body.

Next, Seimei performed his Healing Technique, tending to the wound on Safeng's severed arm. Though the area had already been cauterized by the heat and no longer bled, Seimei expended chakra to ensure Safeng wouldn't die from the injury.

Once he finished all that, Seimei formed hand signs and created another Shadow Clone.

He had certainly paid a price today, repeatedly using Shadow Clone Technique, which drained a considerable amount of chakra. However, it was all worth it. Safeng would replenish his losses easily once he was sent to the cave and used as a chakra battery.

From what Seimei observed with his Sharingan, Safeng, when at full capacity, had at least 8,000 points of chakra. With a conversion rate of 60%, that would yield nearly 5,000 points for Seimei.

The mere thought of such an influx of chakra made Seimei's heart race with excitement.

Forcing himself to calm down, Seimei turned to his clone. "You head off now and make sure he's delivered safely."

The clone nodded without a word, lifting the unconscious Safeng onto its shoulder and departing swiftly.

Meanwhile, Seimei began erasing any traces of their battle, ensuring no one would detect Safeng's disappearance. After cleaning up, Seimei didn't linger. He immediately set off toward the battlefield.

If possible, he hoped to capture a few more Sand shinobi.

To him, there could never be too many "chakra batteries." If he could also capture that puppeteer, even better.

With that in mind, Seimei quickened his pace.

However, when he returned to the battlefield, the only thing left was the corpse of a Konoha ninja. Everyone else had vanished.

Seimei glanced at the corpse. It was the same subordinate who had earlier destroyed his own hearing system.

Apparently, he hadn't survived in the end.

As Seimei examined the body, a faint rustling sound came from a nearby thicket. He immediately stood up and called out, "Who's there?"

"It's me, Captain!" a weak voice replied.

The bushes rustled again, and out stepped Jōichi Kamijō, his face pale.

Jōichi clutched his abdomen, blood seeping through his fingers. It was clear he had suffered a serious wound.

Seimei's Sharingan flared slightly as he scanned Jōichi, confirming he wasn't an enemy in disguise. Only then did Seimei step forward and ask, "How are you? What happened to the enemy?"

"Ugh... they retreated a few minutes ago. I don't know why," Jōichi answered between painful coughs.

"They retreated?"

Seimei pondered this for a moment. "Do you know which direction they went?"

Jōichi pointed toward the northwest.

"Sector E12?" Seimei asked with a frown.

"Most likely," Jōichi nodded weakly.

Seimei fell silent, lost in thought.

After a moment, Jōichi spoke again. "Captain, what about Safeng?"

Seimei's expression darkened as he responded with an irritated tone, "Don't ask. He got away."

Jōichi didn't question him further.

After all, he never expected Seimei to kill a jonin. Forcing an opponent of that caliber to flee was already beyond his expectations.

As for doing any more, that was unthinkable.

On the other hand, while Seimei's face remained neutral, he subtly observed Jōichi's reaction. If Jōichi had shown any suspicion, Seimei might have considered silencing him.

Though Seimei wasn't one to kill without reason, he wasn't above eliminating someone if they posed a threat to his core interests.

Fortunately, Jōichi seemed to accept the explanation without question.

After confirming that Jōichi's injuries weren't life-threatening, Seimei saw no need to waste chakra healing him.

Instead, he issued a command. "Stay here and report what happened to HQ. I'm heading toward Sector E12 to investigate."

"Understood, Captain," Jōichi replied crisply.

"Take care of yourself," Seimei added before disappearing into the dense forest, heading after the retreating Sand ninja.

After Seimei left, Jōichi raised his bloodstained hands and performed the Summoning Technique, calling forth a parrot to deliver his report.
