The morning sun bathed the city in golden light, its rays filtering through the towering skyscrapers and casting long shadows across the bustling streets. For a moment, Jin-Woo simply stood and watched as normal life unfolded before him. It was a scene so ordinary, so mundane, that it felt almost surreal.
People rushed to work, coffee cups in hand, murmuring into phones or scrolling through screens. Street vendors called out, their voices blending into the symphony of the city, offering everything from hot dogs to pretzels. Children laughed as they chased each other near the entrance to Central Park, their carefree joy a stark contrast to the life Jin-Woo had known.
It was peaceful.
A life he had never truly known.
Back in his old world, peace was an illusion. Hunters fought for survival, knowing that one mistake meant death. Even before the System changed him, Jin-Woo had lived every day walking a fine line between life and oblivion. The dungeons were merciless, and the monsters within them even more so. He had seen too many comrades fall, their lives snuffed out in an instant.
Here, it was different.
This world had heroes. Laws. Hope.
And yet… it also had monsters.
He exhaled, forcing himself to relax. For now, he needed to blend in. To observe. To understand. This world was not his own, and he couldn't afford to underestimate it.

### The Café
Jin-Woo found a small café tucked between two office buildings. It was a cozy place, the kind of spot that felt like it belonged in a quieter, simpler world. The scent of roasted coffee beans filled the air, mingling with the faint aroma of freshly baked pastries. The walls were adorned with framed photographs of the city, and soft jazz music played in the background.
He chose a seat by the window, where he could watch the world move around him. It was a simple moment, one that felt almost foreign to him. In his old world, he had barely taken time for things like this. A normal life. A quiet life.
The barista, a young woman with short brown hair and a warm smile, approached him. "What can I get for you?"
Jin-Woo hesitated. He wasn't used to this—choosing something as mundane as a drink. For a moment, he felt out of place, like a predator trying to blend in with a flock of sheep.
"…Black coffee," he said finally.
She nodded, her smile never wavering. "Coming right up."
As he waited, he let his mind drift. He had a mission now. A hunt. But even hunters needed rest. Needed moments like this to ground themselves, to remember what they were fighting for.
For a moment, he was just a man in a café, watching the world pass by.

### The Interruption
But peace never lasted.
The door burst open, and a group of men in suits entered, their presence immediately shifting the atmosphere of the café. They moved with purpose, their eyes scanning the room like predators searching for prey. Jin-Woo could tell immediately—they were looking for someone.
One of them muttered into a hidden earpiece, his voice low but audible. "Yeah, he's here."
Jin-Woo sipped his coffee, his gaze cold and unreadable. Had someone already noticed him? It wouldn't surprise him. He had made no effort to hide his presence, and in a city like this, eyes were everywhere.
One of the men stepped forward, his eyes locking onto Jin-Woo. He was tall, with a broad frame and a face that gave nothing away. His suit was expensive, tailored to perfection, but it couldn't hide the tension in his posture.
"Shadow," he said, his voice firm but not hostile.
Jin-Woo set his cup down, the sound of porcelain against wood echoing in the now-silent café. The barista froze behind the counter, her hand gripping a half-filled coffee cup. Other customers sat tense, their eyes flickering between Jin-Woo and the newcomers.
It was the kind of silence that only came before violence.
Jin-Woo exhaled slowly. He had no interest in causing a scene. Not here. Not yet.
But if they forced his hand…

### The Offer
The man in front of him pulled out a sleek black card and placed it on the table. The card was plain except for a single embossed logo—a red, stylized "K."
Jin-Woo recognized it immediately. Kingpin.
Fisk had noticed him.
Good.
"Mr. Shadow," the man said smoothly, his tone polite but firm. "We'd like to have a word."
Jin-Woo raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable. "And if I say no?"
The man smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "That would be unfortunate."
Jin-Woo picked up the card, turning it over in his fingers. It was heavy, the kind of card that spoke of power and influence. He tapped it against the table, pretending to consider.
"You're being awfully polite for someone who just barged in uninvited," he said, his voice calm but laced with a subtle edge.
The man's smile widened slightly, though it still didn't reach his eyes. "We're reasonable people, Mr. Shadow. Mr. Fisk respects strength, and you… well, you've made quite the impression already."
Jin-Woo smirked. Of course I have.
He leaned back in his chair, his mind racing. This was an opportunity. If he wanted to dismantle Kingpin's empire, he needed to see it from the inside. To understand its weaknesses, its vulnerabilities.
"…Alright," he said finally. "Let's talk."

### The Ride
They led him to a black SUV parked outside, its tinted windows reflecting the sunlight like a mirror. The city moved around them, oblivious to the shadows at play. People walked past, laughing, hurrying, living their lives.
Jin-Woo took one last look at them before stepping inside the vehicle. The interior was luxurious, the seats made of fine leather, the air filled with the faint scent of cologne. The man who had spoken to him earlier sat across from him, his expression unreadable.
As the SUV pulled away from the curb, Jin-Woo leaned back, his gaze fixed on the city outside. He had a feeling that, sooner or later, this world's peace would shatter.
And he would be at the center of it.
---
### The Meeting
The SUV came to a stop in front of a towering skyscraper, its glass façade reflecting the sky like a massive mirror. The building was a symbol of power, its very presence commanding respect.
Jin-Woo stepped out of the vehicle, his eyes scanning the area. The street was quiet, almost unnaturally so. The men in suits flanked him, their presence a silent reminder that he was being watched.
They led him inside, through a lobby that was as opulent as it was intimidating. The floors were made of polished marble, the walls adorned with expensive art. A grand chandelier hung from the ceiling, its crystals catching the light and scattering it across the room.
They took him to an elevator, which ascended to the top floor in silence. When the doors opened, Jin-Woo found himself in a spacious office, its floor-to-ceiling windows offering a breathtaking view of the city.
At the far end of the room, seated behind a massive desk, was Wilson Fisk.
The Kingpin.
Fisk was a mountain of a man, his sheer size enough to intimidate most people. But it wasn't just his physical presence that commanded attention—it was the aura of power that surrounded him. He exuded confidence, his every movement deliberate and calculated.
"Mr. Shadow," Fisk said, his voice deep and resonant. "Welcome."
Jin-Woo stepped forward, his expression calm but unreadable. "You wanted to talk."
Fisk leaned back in his chair, his hands steepled in front of him. "Indeed. You've made quite the impression in a short amount of time. Breaking into my operations, taking down my men… You're either very brave or very foolish."
Jin-Woo smirked. "I've been called both."
Fisk chuckled, a low, rumbling sound. "I like you, Shadow. You've got guts. And I respect that. Which is why I'm offering you a deal."
Jin-Woo raised an eyebrow. "A deal?"
Fisk nodded. "Join me. Work for me. And in return, I'll give you power, wealth, anything you desire."
Jin-Woo's smirk widened. "And if I refuse?"
Fisk's expression darkened, his eyes narrowing. "Then you'll find out just how dangerous this city can be."
Jin-Woo took a step forward, his gaze locking onto Fisk's. "I've faced worse than you, Fisk. And I've survived."
The room fell silent, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife. For a moment, it seemed as though violence was inevitable.
But then Fisk laughed, the sound echoing through the room. "You've got spirit, Shadow. I'll give you that. But remember this—no one crosses me and lives to tell the tale."
Jin-Woo's smirk didn't waver. "We'll see."

### The Aftermath
As Jin-Woo left the building, the System's voice echoed in his mind.
[Quest Updated: The Hunter's Trial]
[Objective: Dismantle Kingpin's empire from within.]
Jin-Woo's lips curled into a smirk.
The game had just gotten more interesting.
