Chapter 18: Chapter 17 - Final Decision
[Four years time skip]
The four years that followed Yuta's tragic awakening were a crucible that forged him into something neither hero nor villain. At 13, he was a boy who believed in the ideals of heroism, despite knowing UA was out of reach when his only female friend was killed due to the destruction caused by a hero and a villain.
His neighborhood, became a battleground where villains acted with impunity. When a powerful villain with a scorpion tail unleashed chaos, Yuta used his quirk in desperation to save his mom, but it wasn't enough. His mom was brutally injured and was admitted for several months before being discharge, and no hero came to help on time. The world's silence in the aftermath was deafening; the incident was barely reported and that made him took the path of an underground hero.
"I'll become my own hero!….I'll become a vigilante….I'll put a stop to those worthless people who call themselves villains and fake heroes." He muttered with a wide grin on his face and bursted into laughter making his mom downstairs to notice him laughing.
His dream was crushed by the hero system for not making amends and villains roaming about killing innocents life and got jailed instead to be sentenced to death.
The world crushed his lifetime dream.
He took his time stacking up all the hero's toys and comics his mother bought for him a while back when he was a little kid.
He tore up all the posters of his favourite hero, "Rock Lock," and other heroes on the wall of his bedroom and threw them all into an abandoned brown box.
As he carried them downstairs to ignite them on fire, hismother stopped him because she noticed the differencein her son.
"Where are you going with that?" His mom was serious.
"Nowhere mom. I'm just getting rid of the things I'm not into anymore since they take up so much space in my room." Yuta said without turning his gaze to his mom.
"And since when have you complained about not having so much space in your room to me?" She questioned him as she stood up from the couch she was on.
"Oh?" His mom was struck dumbfounded.
After the last occurrence, he started to disconnect himself from everyone, and his heart suddenly became cold. Although he didn't despise his mother, he decided that it was the wisest course of action because he didn't want to put her in risk.
He let out a sigh. "Goodbye dream." He said as he lit up the box full of hero's merch and locked his gaze at the burning box till it turned to ash.
He stood gazing at the dazzling blue sky and wondered what kind of fate awaits him in the future of him being a vigilante and when his identity will be blown undercover. 'Who gives a shit about that.' Yuta thought as he walked back into the house.
His mom watched him from the window till the end and wondered what kind of action turned her beloved son to a cold freak.
"Welcome back, Yuta." He heard his mom.
"Huh? I don't understand. What's the meaning of that?" Yuta was confused as he didn't know what his mom was up to.
"Nothing. Or is it wrong for a mother to welcome her son?" The mother said while sipping her black coffee.
"Suit yourself." Was all Yuta said and went inside the kitchen to clean his hands and took his breakfast from the refrigerator. He microwaved it and ate while thanking his mom for the food.
He finished eating and made his way back to his bedroom as he sat on top of his bed while holding his smartphone. 'I haven't reached out to Isshin since he gave me his old man's contact information.' "Maybe I should try and reach out to Isshin today." He muttered.
'Maybe I'll train a little first before reaching out to him.' He changed his pajama clothes to gym clothes. He rushed downstairs when his mom stopped him.
"So?" She said double crossing her arms.
"Mom, I haven't trained to my limit in a while, so I figured I should hit the gym today to help build my muscles since my squats and push up won't be enough." He said honestly.
"Why push yourself to this extent?" His mom was bothered if something was the cause of her son's action lately.
"Because I want to be able to protect myself and you, mom." Yuta said, "If I don't take this chance now since I'm still young then I'll find it hard to do so when I'm older." He added.
"You don't have to go that far, Yuta. They're heroes out there to protect us from the bad people so please…think about it, son." The mother begged but at the mention of 'hero,' Yuta's face turned cold.
"Then do you want me to be weak? Do you want your only child to be bullied? If I was strong back then, I swore I could've protected you when the hero didn't show up." He exclaimed.
"Is not th-" Before his mom could finish her sentence, Yuta cut her off.
"Then I'll be strong. Stronger than the number one hero…." He said nonchalantly and exited the house making his mom shrugged.
He stood for some while seeing no taxi, still exercising his patience and reminiscing about the little fight he had with his mom earlier, a taxi arrived and he entered telling the driver to stop him at the nearest train station.
They drove for 30 minutes while Yuta just kept observing the beauty and the lies behind the city.
"Here you go." The driver reminded Yuta who was lost in his thoughts.
"Oh, thanks." Yuta got out of the taxi and gave the driver his money, urging him to save his change for when they next saw each other. He spent an additional ten minutes walking to the train station, where he purchased his tickets and got on a fifteen-minute journey.
The train was packed with people going to various places, so he stood inside for the fifteen-minute ride. The door automatically opened for him when the train declared his position and he got off.
Yuta embarked on an exciting journey into the world of fitness. With a natural curiosity and a desire to improve his physical health, he decided to join a gym to get his body physically fit. This decision marked the beginning of a transformative experience that would not only enhance his physical abilities but also boost his limit using his quirk.
'Finally.' He felt some kind of relief inside his body while he made his way to the gym he saw on tv. "So big." He muttered as he stood at the front of the gymnasium, seeing young and old people going to exercise.
He became fired up and got himself registered at the gate before entering. He walked inside as his smile widened seeing so many train gears and different types of people including the ones with tails and wings attached to their body because of their quirk each of them possessed.
Upon entering the gym, Yuta was greeted by a random seasoned instructor known for his expertise and motivational coaching style. The man quickly recognized Yuta's enthusiasm and potential. He crafted a tailored workout plan that balanced strength training, cardio, and flexibility exercises, ensuring that Yuta would develop a well-rounded fitness foundation.
"Excuse me." Yuta was stopped by a random instructor who walked up to him.
"G-Good day to you sir! I'm Yuta, nice to meet you." Yuta was nervous as he spoke.
"Nice to meet you young Yuta. I'm Rurumu and I'm an adviser here at this gym." The man introduced himself.
"Really? Then that's a great help. Rurumu, I saw the advertisement of this gym on the tv so I was eager to see for myself how talented this place is." Yuta spoke.
"That's really smart of you, Yuta. Since you're here now as a newbie, I'll be your trainer so allow me to lead you all the way to the spot you'll be using." The man led the way.
They walked for a while as Rurumu was showing off all their equipment to Yuta who was pleased by their hard work. They walked all over the gymnasium and finally, they got to the spot Yuta will be using on the second floor.
"Since you're already kitted up, we should start right away." The instructor instructed.
"All set." Yuta said.
"First, you're to get your body warmed up first before the use of bodyweight." Rurumu explained to Yuta as he instructed him with 20 push ups, 20 squats and 10 sit ups.
Yuta was prepared for this before coming here as he did all exercises with ease, making the instructor surprised at how the young man was fitted.
"Bravo! I didn't expect you to complete all this exercise at ease but since you made up your mind to come here, I guess you were prepared for this." The man said as he observed the young man's body which made him notice how hard the boy's been training.
"Don't underestimate me." Yuta said.
"Then, get prepared to get past your limit in these few months you'll be under me." The man was determined to make the young boy physically fit…
