Pixie Hollow, right after Queen Clarion's reveal of the talent artifacts…
In a timeline without Naruto in it, Tinker Bell wouldn't have had an audience with the Queen so early in her life (at least, not for a routine thing like talent testing). However, the new fairy's presence seemed to intrigue the ruler fairy so much that she decided to take a closer look for herself without looking too interested in the newcomers (Naruto was capable of flight without losing pixie dust in the process – the average fairy still needed regular trips to stock up on gold pixie dust…). As Clarion watched the two fairies walk past the artifacts trying to see if any of them exhibited a reaction to them, she was treated to an amusing spectacle.
With Naruto…
'Okay…I am getting a little side tracked here. Once I help Tinker Bell get her talent checked out, I should talk to the queen there and see if there's any way I can use to return back to England. I am sure Ella and Grimhilde could fix my current fairy problem…maybe my chakra reacted to the gods' energy in a strange way?' Naruto mused as both he and Tinker Bell checked the artifacts out. There were many little doohickeys out for them to check –Tink went straight for the flashy stuff like a light orb, a lightning bolt in a glass jar, a ball of flame (you get the idea). While she was doing that though, she failed to notice that one particular item, the Tinker hammer, was so attuned to her that the tool was literally pulled off of its pedestal and began flying towards her.
Not wanting to see his new friend get her head bashed in with a hammer so soon (she was literally born a few hours ago), Naruto quickly caught the hammer right before it could make contact with her head, her golden locks waving about from the gust of wind produced by his speedy save.
"Whoa there Tink – looks like your talent found you instead. Come to think of it…your first name literally is Tinker so I guess I should have seen that one coming…" Naruto said as Tink looked at the hammer doubtfully.
"You mean this dinky hammer is my talent? I don't know about this…it looks pretty drab and do I look like a gal who'd spend her time in a dusty and dirty blacksmith smock?" She said as Naruto shrugged his shoulders at her.
"The tool was practically magnetized to you – I think it's safe to say that this is your talent. Besides being a craftsman is cool! You get to make all the cool stuff other people use and you get to know how everything works!" He said, watching Tink reluctantly take the hammer before watching him try and find his talent.
Unfortunately for Naruto though, this would take him the better part of ten minutes (an age in fairy time) and even then, he only got faint reactions from the forest and wind fairy artifacts. Left more than a little befuddled, the two of them looked to the Queen for any advice.
"Right…so I don't think any of these things are reacting to me. Maybe I should explain that I wasn't originally a fairy and maybe that's why this stuff isn't working for me?" Naruto said as Queen Clarion hummed contemplatively before bending over to look at him.
"What you were in a past life is of no relevance to this test. While most of us don't have past lives, reincarnation isn't a foreign concept to us. Try to focus on your core – try to find your magic and perhaps your true calling will be revealed." She said as Tinker Bell moved closer to Naruto, gently holding his arm before giving him her own encouragement.
"Yeah! If you could make Tinkering sound awesome to someone who didn't care about it a few minutes ago, then you definitely have a gift for something alright! Try to think of something happy – what do you want to do in this new life?" She said as Naruto sighed, scratching his head in confusion before moving a few steps back, away from the artifacts to the other fairies' befuddlement.
'I can't really think of anything beyond finding my way back to Wonderland…I don't think that's really a talent so maybe I'll just flare my chakra. Maybe that'll work…' Naruto thought as he began channeling chakra, his golden glow suddenly turning a deep cerulean that had the Queen gasping in surprise.
'Is he a winter fairy?! No, this isn't ice magic…he is producing blue pixie dust energy!' She thought in shock as she thought that only the Blue harvest moon was the only source of it.
"Wow! Naruto – you look so cool right now! What are you doing anyway?" Tinker Bell asked as she noticed all the artifacts start pulsing with stronger lights and energy (although none of them reacted to Naruto regardless of his powered up state).
Upon noticing this discrepancy, Naruto then stopped actively using his chakra, his aura turning gold once more. Once he did that however, Clarion glided over to him before crouching before him (Tinker Bell also followed suit, noticing out of the corner of her eye that a great deal of bystanders had been attracted to the pulse of blue light, their cores resonating with the primal energy being exuded).
"So what was all that about? I used my chakra – that's the name of my magic if you were wondering but none of the tools seemed to be reacting to me anyway…" Naruto said as Clarion put a hand on his chest as if trying to feel for some trace of his energy. She could feel the weight of his power but just like before, couldn't put a name to its affinity (of course, to someone like Tinker Bell, it just looked like the queen just wanted to cop a feel of the new fairy's chiseled chest…).
'Hmpf! What does that old broad think she's doing, feeling up Naruto's chest like that? We're fairy buddies- I should the one groping that chest damnit!' Tink thought as she fumed slightly (yeah, our resident Tinker fairy had quickly developed an infatuation with her new mysterious hunk of a friend – while not love just yet, she had certainly laid a claim on him already…).
"You, my dear, are a very special fairy indeed. Do you see the great Pixie Hollow tree behind us? That tree is our only source of gold Pixie Dust, the primary catalyst of our powers and what allows us to fly. Newborn fairies need a supply of this dust to fly for the first time like your friend here but you were able to achieve this without coming here. Judging from your display a few seconds ago, I believe that you may be the first Blue Moon fairy in history!" Queen Clarion said, gesturing grandly to the Pixie Hollow tree as she spoke.
"Blue Moon fairy? Sorry your Majesty but you've lost me there –and Tink too by the looks of it. Maybe you should explain yourself a bit more?" Naruto said as the two young fairies smirked amusedly at the Queen's embarrassed blush at her gaffe.
"Oh! Terribly sorry there dear, I was getting too ahead of myself. *Ahem* Well, the fact of the matter is that all pixie dust arises from the blue variant. Blue pixie dust is the result of using a Moonstone to transmute the light of the Blue Harvest Moon, which graces the land, Neverland every eight years or so. It is this dust which revitalizes this hollow so it may remain the eternal refuge of us fairies, as a source of berver-ending gold Pixie Dust. As you can imagine, this way of life hinges on the tree and the moon- while the former is not so essential as any maple tree infused with dust can be transformed, the latter is indispensable." The queen said, taking a deep breath after her long spiel.
"So you're saying that my energy is the same as the moon you speak of? Is that why you call me a Blue Moon fairy?" Naruto said as Tink had figurative smoke rising off her head from the information dump (She wasn't dumb…honest! Learning about the intricacies of dust was just too much for one lecture though!).
"Indeed. You seem to produce the same blue light and are capable of turning it into the energy produced by golden pixie dust. Of course, the tradeoff I can see here is that you don't have any dust coming off of you nor can you really use any without overcharging yourself. With you, us fairies have another option other than the Moon for dust! How glorious!" Queen Clarion said, happily floating in the air, her wings giving a pleasant hum as she hovered in the air.
The next few hours were a whirlwind of activity for Tink and Naruto as they now had to find a home for themselves (Naruto thought that they'd have to find two homes but Tink insisted on sharing one big one instead, citing that fairies born together should stick together). The Queen also tried to have Naruto stay with her in her home but he politely declined, telling her that he'd be more comfortable out of the public eye (that and he didn't want to potentially to be involved with another royal…he wasn't sure he liked the look in her eyes).
They were introduced to two Tinker fairies, Clank and Bobble, who were assigned the duty of getting Tinker Bell (and Naruto by extension) familiar with the 'Tinker sector' of the hollow. Their guides were quickly besotted by Tinker Bell and their various fumbles trying to impress her did serve to amuse their guests until they were taken to an unoccupied house on the outskirts of the sector.
"Well here we are! Hope you guys like the house, it's almost brand spankin' new! Perks of living in the Tinker sector you see – we build everything so we get the latest stuff!" Clank said as Bobble, true to his name, bobbed his head in agreement.
Naruto and Tink then entered the house and picked their respective rooms. Naruto immediately tried to enter Sage mode in the privacy of his room, only to burst into blue energy, his form turning into an energy construct. He couldn't sense the life forces of Snow and the others so he turned the mode off. When he did so though, he noticed that his clothes changed (think of Link's clothes from the Twilight Princess).
"Well, this is a surprise…my powers never changed my clothes like this before. At least I look the part of an ordinary fairy now…" He said as he left his room, thinking about asking the Queen about how to leave Neverland.
So deep he was in his thoughts, he almost didn't notice Tinker Bell trying to get his attention. Luckily, he broke out of his musings just before she lost her temper (she looked terribly excited and smug about something – Naruto didn't know how someone could feel those emotions simultaneously but would soon realize the Tink was a strange girl).
"So? What do you think of my new dress?~" Tink said as she twirled in a circle in front of him, her current outfit showing off her killer curves and toned legs (original Tinker Bell design). Gone was her original dandelion dress, replaced by an emerald one which really accentuated her blue eyes and blond hair.
"Looking great Tink! With our current attire, shared blue eyes and blond hair, people might even mistake us for siblings!" Naruto said, only to be taken aback by Tink's impassioned refusal of the notion.
"What's wrong? We look like a matching set – I thought girls liked that stuff?"
'Silly ~ we like to match with people we'd rather not have be our siblings…' Tink thought, blushing at Naruto's new look and his opinion on her clothes.
A few days later…
Naruto, not being a Tinker fairy, spent most of his time exploring the vastness of Neverland. He didn't stray too far from the Hollow and Tink as he had to return to the Hollow every night (both Queen Clarion and Tink agreed to enforce this, each for their own reasons though…). He had some duties of course – upon the Queen's reveal that he could be used to produce Blue Pixie dust, he had to spend some time with Terrence (a dust fairy) for regular dust transmutations (it was effortless for Naruto and if he could help the fairies out then he had no problems with it). This gradually made Naruto an unofficial prince of the Hollow, only answering to the Queen – he didn't really notice this himself until Tink pointed out that the Queen seemed to have a soft spot for him and that only she really talked to him in any casual fashion(the other fairies were too star struck by his powers). He quickly learned that Neverland was a place quite similar to Wonderland, minus the obvious wackiness of the latter and upon consulting some maps he found in the Hollow, he also learned of the mainland.
Apparently, Neverland was an island hidden by a magical veil off the coast of England – this was great news to Naruto as he had no means of traversing the borders between worlds as he was now. Upon sharing this news with Tinker Bell (who also wanted to explore the world and was quite chuffed to hear that he was as well) the both of them decided to visit the Queen to ask her if they could visit the mainland.
Clarion however, was quick to dissuade them.
"Sorry Naruto and Tink, I can't permit you two to leave the Hollow to visit the mainland. Only Nature fairies are to do so to welcome Spring and Summer after all. Besides, as a tinkerer, your place is here Tink. Naruto – as a unique fairy, your well being is of primary concern – while you have nothing truly binding you to the hollow, it wouldn't be wise to risk your life on a silly jaunt." She said, trying to console the disappointed fairies before her.
Having said that, the two were dismissed from the royal dais. However, Naruto and Tink were nothing if not stubborn and silently agreed to explore the world together in secret. After all, with a tinker so talented that she could build anything and a blue pixie dust battery of a fairy, the two of them could run around the world in a single night. First they'd explore the entirety of Neverland and then the mainland would be next!
That wraps up chapter 28! In the next chapter, our two renegades will explore Neverland, meet Tiger Lily and finally find Peter on their first journey to England!
