RWBY : Remnant Hulk

Chapter 12: Double Trouble

Jaune sat on his bed, staring at the ceiling. Suspended for two weeks. No training outside. No socializing. Nothing. He clenched his fists in frustration, his mind restless. The weight of his actions lingered over him like a dark cloud.

A knock at the door snapped him from his thoughts. It was Bruce.

Jaune open the door for Bruce to come inside.

"Alright, kid," Bruce said, stepping inside. "You've got two weeks to sit here and mope or two weeks to get stronger. Your choice."

Jaune sat up. "How? I can't even leave the dorm."

Bruce smirked and pulled out a set of weighted wristbands, calf bands, and a vest. "These will help."

Jaune took a wristband and immediately dropped it, cracking the floor. 100 kilograms. His eyes widened. "How much do these weigh?"

"100 kilos each for the bands. The vest is 500 kilos." Bruce simply answering it like it is normal.

Jaune gawked. "That's—! That's insane!"

Bruce crossed his arms. "After what happened with Cardin, your biggest weakness is lack of aura control. You need to slow down, feel every movement, and learn restraint. These weights will force you to be aware of every motion. But I'd course you're not lifting them with your brute strength. You're going to use your Aura. Besides, your skinny and scrawny."

Jaune hesitated before strapping on the gear. The moment he tried to move, he nearly collapsed. Even lifting his arm required effort. He gritted his teeth, focusing his Aura to lighten the burden, but his control was shaky, causing the weights to shift unpredictably.

"Great," Jaune muttered, struggling to stand. "Now what?"

Bruce held up a glass of water. "Hold this and try to drink it."

Jaune reached out, only for the glass to shatter in his grip. He winced. "Oh..."

Bruce sighed and pulled out another glass. "Good thing I brought spares. We're gonna be at this for a while."

For the rest of the day, Jaune tried—and failed—to hold a glass without breaking it. His frustration grew, veins popping on his forehead as he bit his lip in irritation. By sunset, shattered glass littered the floor.

The door opened, and Pyrrha, Ren, and Nora stepped in. "Hey, Jaune, we—" Pyrrha stopped mid-sentence, taking in the disaster before her.

Ren blinked. "...Should we ask?"

Bruce turned to them with a smirk. "Don't worry, this is just training. Want some candy?"

Nora eagerly took a handful, while Pyrrha and Ren accepted theirs with a chuckle. Then, they turned to Jaune, who looked seconds away from exploding.

"Uh... hi... Jaune...?" Nora tried, waving hesitantly.

Jaune twitched, his entire body trembling. His rage was so intense, no one dared to speak further.

Bruce clapped his hands. "Alright, time for me to clean up. Jaune, you keep the weights on."

Jaune's eyes widened. "Wait, you mean I can't take them off?"

Bruce shook his head. "Nope. You'll wear them for two weeks straight. Even in your sleep. Remember, this is for your own good."

Jaune was devastated. Nora snickered but was swiftly silenced by a light smack from Pyrrha.

Meanwhile, at Team RWBY's dorm, Bruce noticed someone missing. "Where's Yang?"

Ruby sighed. "She skipped class again. Probably with her friends."

Bruce was silent for a moment before turning to Blake and Weiss. "Call her"

Weiss and Blake exchanged glances before dialing Yang's Scroll. It rang. And rang. No answer.

Weiss huffed. "Of course she's ignoring us."

Blake sighed. "Then we'll have to find her."

Bruce nodded. "Good. Bring her back."

Both girls stared at him. "Excuse me?" Weiss huffed. "Why us?"

"Because you two dislike each other, and teamwork builds character," Bruce said nonchalantly. "Now go."

Blake groaned. "You've got to be kidding me."

Ruby perked up. "I can go too—"

Bruce shook his head. "Nope. You need rest. Let them handle it."

Weiss crossed her arms. "Fine. But where do we even start?"

Blake thought for a moment before her ears twitched. "Junior's Club. Yang probably went there to party."

Weiss blinked. "Junior's what now?"

"You'll see," Blake muttered before leading the way.

When they arrived at the club, a bulky guard blocked their path. "ID?"

"We just need to find someone," Blake said, trying to step past him.

The guard didn't budge. "Identify yourselves."

Weiss sighed and pulled out 2,000 Lien, slipping it into his hand. "We were never here."

The guard pocketed the money and stepped aside. Blake gawked at her. "You bribed him?!"

Weiss shrugged. "Forget about it. Let's go."

Inside, the club was packed with people dancing and drinking. Music blared as neon lights flashed. Then, they spotted Yang—golden hair shining under the lights, laughing with her friends.

"There she is," Blake pointed.

Without hesitation, they grabbed Yang by the arms and dragged her out.

"What the hell?!" Yang snapped, pulling away. "You couldn't have warned me first?!"

Weiss fumed. "Instead of studying, you're partying? Do you even care about your future?!"

Yang rolled her eyes. "Oh, please, like you're my mom or something!"

The two started bickering intensely. Blake sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

Then, suddenly—a hand gripped Yang's wrist, stopping her mid-motion.

Bruce.

The tension instantly shifted.

"Enough," Bruce said firmly. "This isn't worth fighting over."

Yang huffed and pulled away. "Whatever. I'm out of here."

Bruce's voice was calm yet serious. "Keep this up, and you'll regret it."

Yang scoffed. "Yeah, yeah. I don't need a lecture."

Without another word, she walked off, disappearing into the night.

Blake frowned. "What now? Shouldn't we go after her?"

Bruce shook his head. "She needs to figure this out herself. You two, head back."

Weiss and Blake exchanged glances before nodding and making their way back to the dorm.

When they returned, Ruby immediately asked, "Where's Yang?"

Blake sighed. "Just... go to sleep, Ruby."

Weiss grumbled, "Your sister's a pain in the butt."

Ruby's face fell. She waited for Yang. And when Yang finally came home, she simply collapsed into bed without a word.

Ruby watched from her bunk, sadness in her silver eyes.

She missed her sister.
