Chapter 6: Notorious Nostrils
Within the New world creatures of many sizes fight for the ability to stand at the food chain, yet none are more unique than the hunters that have braved the high seas to get here. Unlike their much larger competitors, these hunters have used tools to turn other wyverns into power to carve out their own territory, known to many as Astera.
This stronghold wrought forth many individuals, from the rookies just making a name for themselves to living legends, such as The Commander, one of the very first to ever venture within the New world 45 years ago.
Nearby, The Commander gathers with the other fleet master, to plan their next moves.
"Alright! Listen up! our mission here was to gather as much info on the New World and now are best opportunity is around the corner. I'll let our Chief Ecologist fill us in on the details."
The Chief Ecologist walks up to the large table containing a large map that contains areas they have explored so far: the ancient forest and Wildspire waste. He is a short creature with pointed ears and round glasses, covered in a robe that goes down past his stubby legs.
"Yes, from the data we have gathered over the past 4 decades, along with any special sightings from other hunters, The other scholars and I have been able to roughly sketch out a path the elder dragons usually take." As he describes his findings, he places a wooden figurine on the map near shores of the New world.
"The figure you see now represents an elder dragon that usually passes through the area. It appears to be a living volcano in terms of both size and power." The Chief Ecologist than proceeds to explain how the large creature makes its way straight through the forest and into the Wildspire, and finally passing the Great ravine, a large chasm that has been left uncharted ever since the Third fleets lack of communication.
"Thank you, I'll take over from here." The Commander then turns to face the other Fleet masters. "Within 5 years, these goals need to be accomplished. First, we will map out as much of the New World as we can, leave no stone unturned. Then, we will clear a specified area of any obstacles to commence are operation: to subdue the Elder dragon recently termed as Zorah Magdaros."
"What!"
"Mew Gotta be kitten me!" (a/n: for those that don't know, this is the Meowscular chef... he uses these puns. A LOT)
"Don't ya think that's a tad bit overboard?"
Facing the chorus of disbelief from his compatriots, The Commander Remains unmoved, stating "I know this is a lot to take in, but if we don't take such a risk, then we will never fully understand what makes these things tick, and if not us then who will?"
Before the other Fleet masters can say more, The Commander changes topics. " All right, now that the main problem has been addressed, let's go over the reports. Do we have enough material for the smithy?"
A tanned man with an eyepatch steps forward replying to The Commander, "Aye we got more than enough ta gear up an entire fortress!"
"Good. What about supplies?"
"Enough to last about three years, we'll have to order more for this big plan of yours" A woman holding a notepad states, furiously scribbling down info for what is stockpiled.
The Chief Ecologist, having finished, packing his materials reports to The Commander "There has also been a few anomalies reported by some hunters."
"Oh go on then."
" Within the Wildspire waste, a Jyuratodos and Barroth have been seen to more frequently clash for territory, a Rathalos missing a tail has been spotted within the skies but no hunter claims to have done it, and just recently, A researcher within the ancient forest has spotted a rather...peculiar anjanath."
"A peculiar anjanath? what do you mean?" curious, the de facto leader of the hunters urges the lynian for more details. "Well, for starters, this specific creature is slightly bigger than its counter parts. It has also been spotted possessing serious firepower, quite literally disintegrating a Tobi-Kadachi with one breath. However, as the researcher continued to track it, it showed behaviors abnormal to regular anjanaths, such as fishing within the lakes of the forrest and what doing strange movements in a specific area of the forrest."
As the Chief Ecologist continued with the report, the Fleet masters nearby had a more grim look begin to appear on their faces.
The Commander, now beginning to create a profile for Evans, declares " Alright from now on the 1st fleet will handle monitoring this anjanath. Pass the order to not engage and try to observe without being spotted. With that said, that is all for now."
" May the sapphire star guide your way!"
